  1. Hi Just HT, I have fair skin also, took about 4-5 months for most of the red/pink to leave completely. Sucks I know, just need to be patient and ride it out.
  2. looking good at 5 months Voxman. I like the idea of keeping the hairline conservative also.
  3. I think it took about 2 weeks for the scabs to heal and maybe a week for most of the pain. My donor area itched had pimples for at least 2 months though. Partial doses of the pain meds and Advil will help the itching. Good luck on your recovery,
  4. Thank -you Pavan, Yes I had a lot of swelling also, it just lasts a few days. The worst thing for me in the first two weeks was itching. I took partial doses of the pain meds and that help me get through it and still be able to work. Good luck and keep us posted on the progress!
  5. Attached pictures of up close hairline and one month prior to the HT. For those interested.
  6. I have to say, most of my goals and expectations have been met. Still see some short and fine hairs that need to grow and mature so can only get better.
  7. looks like a very nice outcome for this case....Nice work Dr Vories
  8. I slept the night in a hotel then drove home about 5 hours the next day, no problem, I could have taken a 5 hr flight just as easy. Best to where one of the blue surgical caps, very loose fitting. I had them give me a few before I left. I would wear these for 10 days. most docs say sponge head shampoo 2-3 days post op. no workout / heavy activity 10 days. I would say 30 days or so for sun, that head is going to red enough. Good luck.
  9. PH, Looking good esp for 4 months. Seems like you have a very good yield. Some of my strange growing hairs areas seem to be falling in line and becoming more manageable. Nice things to come I think.
  10. I don't the ink there are any perfect indicators of what the future progression would be. Most likely will have the slow progression of current hair loss. I would do combination minox, a topical DHT blocker and laser comb therapy for 6 months and see how your scalp feels. Comb your hair out over the sink in the am and see what kind of shedding you have. Hopefully this will stabilize your loss and you can check into a HT.
  11. I think I cycled off creatine right after my HT, mostly because it suggested not to work out for 10 days. I never really thought about it. I have been taking creatine and working out as usual since my HT and don't see any issue or reason to stop. I don't think creatine can increase DHT anyway.
  12. Shanson, Yes it was your post I was looking at, much thanks for info and support. Good to hear that your hair stated to blend, Dr Vories just replied that it will start to blend at about 1 year. Must be very rare, I'm not super anal about my looks, but don't want like I'm wearing a coon skin hat either.
  13. Hey OT, good observation I think you are right, net loss at the moment with Native hair. The mid scalp area no grafts where done is the same. I would say maybe 65-75% native hair has come back where grafts where planted. What do you think?
  14. 5 month update: I'm happy with my decision and progress at this point, can see improvement from prior month, And feel like I can leave the house without a cap. Seems like the left temple is lagging the right, not too concerned as I see more small hairs popping through. The transplanted hair is growing in considerably darker than any of my native hair. Do any of you experts know if they will eventually change/blend ? I did some searching and only saw one other case like this in the forum and the guy got no answers.
  15. I think he just needs to man-up, throw on a helmet and play American Football. The balding crown will have little effect
  16. I can't answer for everyone, I'm sure some may have esteem issues. Personally I hate the HT marketing angle of "restored confidence". Confidence or esteem only comes from constantly doing esteem-able acts. We are what we consistently do. For me it was also working on my faith to overcome fears as a younger man. Confidence must come from within. So if our confidence and esteem are wrapped up in our hair, job, house, money, spouse, family etc and we lose these things what happens? We lose self worth? I'm 56 married, plenty of friends and established in business. It would have been a lot easier for me to do nothing about hair loss, but I do take a lot of pride in my appearance, work to stay in shape etc, so I went for what I wanted which was a little bit of hair....nothing easy about this whole HT process though. People do a lot of things to improve and maintain their appearance, so whatever. If I need to pin it on a character defect I would call it "vanity" for me. Guess I will own it.
  17. Oliver, Yes the laser comb made my hair thicker. I always has thin fine hair blonde/ lt brown hair, but when I did my HT, the doctor told me my hair was medium texture and he used a .85 punch for extraction when he typically uses .80 for majority of patients. Personally if I had to choose minox vs laser comb, I would use the comb, but I still do both. Minox is cheap and takes 20 seconds to rub on your head at night after you brush your teeth so why not, it cant hurt. I don't want to contradict your doc. Other than that just common sense stuff, multi vitamin and hair supplement, good diet and keep physically fit/ heathy. Don't let work, life or women stress you out
  18. Hi Oliver, Yes I started using the original laser comb about 8 years ago when it fist got FDA approval. Unfortunately I had already been losing my hair for about 28 years at that point, you are in a much better position and smart to be looking at solutions at a young age. It is not a miracle cure and want grow a bunch of new hair on your head, but for me it helped with miniturization in the hair and I feel it stopped any further hair loss. I started in Fin a few years later just be in the safe side as I had no sides, but I think I could likely go off and have no further hair loss. A few years back the cord in the comb broke and I didn't use it for about 3 weeks, my scalp started feeling itchy and uncomfortable even though I was still using minox. Felt much better instantly when I started using the comb again. I'm not a rep for any company, just sharing my experience...I paid about $500.00 form mine back n the day and I think you can get the basic model for under $200 now. Nothing really grows new hair on your head except a HT, so I'm not sure why the laser comb gets no love. Laser therapy applications are used extensively by dermatologists. Link to Bernstien site with technical information about how it works. Laser Therapy for Hair Loss (LLLT) | Bernstein Medical Hope this can help
  19. I would keep with the fin/ maybe get on some biotin type supplements. Hairmax Laser comb is perfect for your case to improve hair health and thickness
  20. 4 month update: looks like things are progressing thankfully.
