  6. Techie, Thanks for sharing your experience. Not trying to tell you how to live your life, but I think just combing the hair straight back is the least flattering method for most HT patients wear their hair. Maybe check with a good stylist. Just a gentle part from L/R or R/L folds the hair over hair and offers the fuller thicker look and might make a big difference for you. JMO.
  7. Good that you are trying to prevent at an early age. I would try Nizoral a couple times a week and laser comb (works well for me). Is hair loss slowing? Unscientific but when you wake in the AM before shower lean the top of your head over the bathroom sink, use your fingers to whisk out any loose hair. a lot of short 2" and under hairs is a bad sign. A small number of hair is normal
  8. I get the 5 mg generic round Fin and into quarters. I figure by the time you are done you end up with about 1 gram pieces. By far the best way for me to cut is just by hand using a small replacement razor blades used for scraping paint of windows from the Hardware or Home depot. That big knife is crazy; Was a popular tool for chopping all kinds of drugs back in the 70's and 80's
  9. I went on a consult to Dr Griffin in ATL and the rep mentioned that they have a lab that does a blend of meds for topical application which they prescribe to patients. From what I remember a mix of Minox and Fin and maybe some other things. Sounded like a good option for those who didn't tolerate oral Fin. I decided against using them and I do fine on the oral meds, so did not pursue it.
  10. Hello and welcome to the site. I've seen some of Dr Yates videos and he seems like a reputable Dr. , but after getting on this site I came to find that many of the folks close to the industry are not fans of the ARTIS system he uses. I've decided to use Dr Vories @ Carolina hair surgery. I like the fact that he only does FUE and others where trying to steer me to FUT. Liked the quality of work and value and got good vibes and comfort level from them. They where also one of the few places where I saw a decent number of African American patients featured, so I'm thinking they some focus there. Worth checking out. Hope this can help
  11. I agree with Jon86. No one has a crystal ball, but I started losing some hair around age 19 and had about the same amount as you @ 27. I would lay odds that your hair loss will continue at a steady rate over the coming years. Your front to mid-scalp will likely be very thin to no hair by the time you are early 40's. Not sure what your are doing now but minx will slow the loss, Fin and laser comb are best IMO. Lucky you have good options in 2016....better than in 1987
  12. I got good results with the Hairmax laser comb...just doing the infrared treatments at home 3 times a week. My scalp almost instantly felt better and improved the health of my existing hair. I doubt I grew any new hair, but kept me from losing what I had. Sounds like this might be a good option given your past history.
  13. Hi Seemer, Doesn't sound like your hair loss is aggressive. If it was me, I would use the Minox at night, Nizoral shampoo, and laser comb 2-3 times a week. You might even think about a topical DHT blocker. I swear by my laser comb, best 4-$500 I ever spent. Taking action always will make you feel better.
  14. Nice that you don't really have any redness. My skin tone is naturally kind of red, so I likely will..
  15. Hi CPA, Thanks for your updates and posts. I tries to PM you, but couldn't seem to get the function to work. I have an online consult with Dr Vories soon, I liked the fact that he has a lot of case pictures/videos online to view, specializes in FUE, seems reasonably priced, and is relatively close from ATL. Let me know your feelings and how many Doctors your consulted before the procedure? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I'm 55, so going to be one and done for me
