  1. Hey, can anyone tell me where to find my book marked threads....I've viewed them before but it was while back and it's not immediately obvious (shouldn't it just be a clear link from the profile?)
  2. Hi, What advice have people been given regarding how long after a transplant it is ok to shave the recipient? Reading these threads it seems there is a divergence of opinion, with some saying up to 6 months (Lorenzo).
  3. I agree with Mikey1970. Sorry if my previous post was a little direct. I just think, everyone who posts in the forum surely knows what it is like to be affected, psychologically be hair loss - we wouldn't be undertaking procedures otherwise, right? But, if it reaches the stage when it effects you in ways that are too costly, such as your relationships, then it is time to address the problems in a way besides your hair. You have great density and you'll look great at your wedding, but don't let it shape you're life more than it already has to.
  4. I'm sorry things haven't gone the way you hoped, but seriously if this is also affecting your relationship with your soon-to-be wife, you need to re-evaluate things. You've tried to address your hair, and you're not happy with the results. Many people on here have told you that they think it looks good, and I do too. You've got a good hairline and good density. I hear what you're saying about the fact that you've paid a lot of money and you were never a NW 4 or 5 anyway, and therefore you'd expect better results, but listen up mate, you have to deal with things in a better way. There is more to life than you're hair. You seriously need to get over it. You've tried. It looks good. Now stop letting it consume you and pay attention to your wife.
  5. Hey guys, I'm wondering if you could help me. I read quite an old thread on here (older than a year I think), about a study done into the effects of different dosages of fin. I wish I book marked it as it was really useful. I've tried to search under a range of different combinations, but I can't for the life of me locate it. If anyone recalls it and has easy access to it, please could you post a link? It was mainly regarding the differences on 1.25mg vs 1mg, and I think the study even suggested dropping to 0.5mg had no effect on effects of the drug. Thanks guys
  6. Hey guys, If one experiences several bumps to the head on the recipient area, how damaging is this? Day after transplant on the flight home, I bumped my head both on the plane seat and the interia side of the carriage. None of the bumps were really bad, but it stung for a couple of seconds as it had just been operated less than 24 hours ago. I guess this kinda normal stuff happens all the time but it doesn't even register when we havent just had a transplant. It's hard to describe how hard the bumps were, but there really were the sort of things that normally wouldn't even be noticed. I looked at the recipient and there was no fresh blood (although it's still pretty scabby so hard to tell conclusively). Thanks for your help guys!
  7. If it is some kind of delay shock loss, it should grow back. Have you communicated with your doctor to see if he can offer a solution? Maybe a refund or (if you trust him) a corrective procedure? The inflammation is probably caused by an infection that can be cured with appropriate antibiotics, but the doctor is the best person to assess you and offer medication.
  8. To the op, you did the right thing getting on meds. This buys you time. You've obviously thought a lot about it, so I'd say go for it. If you pick a reputable doctor they can discuss the implications of your age. My understanding is that youth is a factor as the loss could continue, but you're on meds so that takes away that variable. I'm in my early 30s and my loss could also quite feasibly continue.
  9. Thanks, yeah I think a bandana is a good option actually. That's the way I go I think. Thanks for your input guys!
  10. Thanks for all your replies guys! To be honest I think a surgical hat would draw more attention to me (besides not quite sure why they are beneficial over a non-surgical hat?). So guys, a baseball hat, as long as loose, will be fine? Thanks very much.
  11. Thanks for your reply Garageland. Don't you think the removal and then putting the hat back on poses a risk to newly placed grafts?
  12. Hi guys, I have dilema regarding immediately after surgery. I've read many threads on this site about sun damage, and that the odd 5 minutes doesn't matter. But what about strong sunlight, immediately post op? Say just 5 minutes? Also, to avoid sun light and wear a hat is an obvious solution, but I've also read many threads on this site regarding hat wearing, and there doesn't seem to be a consensus regarding immediate post op hat wearing. I will be leaving the clinic the day after surgery (so less than 24 hours after surgery), walking to a car, and then from the car to the airport. Without a hat, this will give sun exposure, and strong sunlight too. But it shouldn't be for more than 5 minutes each time. Once I arrive at my destination, again, there will be sunlight exposure through a car window for about 60 minutes. Again, I've read threads on this, and that sun exposure through a car window could also be damaging as the glass still enables UVA to penatrate through. Alternatively, if I wore a hat, I would have to remove it a couple of times at passport check (I think it has to be done twice departing and once landing), so this is something that concerns me. But at least it would prevent sun damage. Could anyone tell me, on balance, which is the best option? Many thanks
  13. Aside from better photos, you need to post pre-op photos. How can anyone judge progress without them? Comparing with pre-op, you may have a fantastic result, or a very poor result. No conclusion can be drawn by anyone on this site without pre-op photos.
  14. Thanks for the information and sharing you thoughts and expertise. ;-)
  15. Hello everybody, I'd like to hear other people's thoughts, particularly from those who've had transplants, about light and hair length. I'm kinda happy with my result until: a) the hair is cut short & b) i put my head down in bright light. Under the above conditions my hair looks so thin and you can see my scalp clearly. Is this a common case of most HT or do you think it varies?
  16. Hi Gillenator. I'm way too depressed at the moment to post pictures. I'm trying to forget about it for a while. I'm just worried that nothing's going to happen. Nearly 3 months 2 weeks and nothing.
  17. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I hope to be posting good news soon.
  18. hey, So, reading this thread: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/177224-whats-general-expected-rate-hair-growth-transplants.html where it says 10% growth at 3 months is normal. I'm at that stage now but no growth. I picked up a general consensus on this forum that early growth is a sign of strong fuller growth compared to those who have growth later on...is this a fair assessment? Is 0% growth a worrying sign at three months? Also have no symptoms of growth; no small spots, no small spikes, no increase in itching.
  19. What are your stats? Microns? Hairs per graft? Well done, looks great ;-)
  20. That's because Wayne Rooney stopped taking propecia due to him and his wife wanting kids. Had he stayed on it continuously he might have a different result.
  21. I started loosing my hair in my early 20s and didn't start taking propecia until I was 29. I really wish I had started taking it when I was in my early 20s. Get on it now! Propecia hasn't encouraged any regrowth, but it has definitely stopped the loss. In five years my hair is pretty much the same as it was just before I started taking it. My brother on the other hand is now completely bald. If you take propecia, you can relax and stop thinking about your hair for a while. Propecia kind of stops the clock, so you don't need to take any further action. It's also useful if money is an issue; HT can be costly and you may not be able to afford it now.
  22. Well my doctor told me to continue to use fin to prevent transplanted hairs thinning.
