  1. Thanks @gillenator If I may check my understanding if what you say - does this mean a stubble hair that doesn’t grow is no cause for concern and the graft is still alive so a new hair will eventually grow? I’m concerned as I have many of them, about 1mm in length while the rest of my hair is 1cm in length.
  2. Hi everybody, So I’ve been searching this forum and there are a number of previous topics on the issue of small stubbly hairs that don’t grow or shed. In some of the previous threads, these have been described by forum members as ‘dead’ hairs. I’m unsure what this means. Are the hairs ‘dead’ in that the grafts died, presumably during the surgery, and the hairs will never recover? As a worst case scenario, essentially the grafts are lost. Or are the hairs dead but the grafts aren’t, and in time new hairs will grow? I’m asking this as I have many very small (like stubble on your face the day after shaving) hairs in my transplant area. I’m around the 1 month post-op period. If the worst case is the correct interpretation - these grafts are lost and hairs will never recover, does anyone know why this is? thanks very much everyone.
  3. Hey guys, At 3 weeks post op, is everything ok? Two things are concerning me: 1. out of the shower this morning on autopilot, the first time since I had the transplant (21 days post op), I put the towel right in my hairline. I couldn’t believe it. I checked, no hairs in the towel, no bleeding - everything seems ok. Still, it is anxiety inducing for sure. 2. the past few days (so say anything from 16+ days post op) I’ve been very lightly scratching my recipient. Each time I’ve done it, I’ve ran to the mirror (or if I’ve been out in public I’ve checked myself in my phone) to check everything is ok and it appears so. But again, it stays on my mind, I’ve I ruined all the sacrifice I’ve already made? Thanks and hopeful in anticipation of your responses - but please try to be honest and not let your kindness offer false reassurance! 🙂
  4. @Rahal Hair Transplant @TheGreatPretender @gaz9318054 thanks for your time and responses
  5. Hey guys, so what day post op can you safety feel you’re out of the danger zone? Every day something small seems to happen to me that worries me. Say for example, today, my girlfriend put her arms around me and kind of ‘cusped’ my scalp, if you know what I mean. This resulted in my scalp ‘tingling’ for a few minutes. I’m 21 days post op. Can I stop worrying about these incidental touches and just chill the hell out, or do I still need to be careful? p.s. happy Christmas!
  6. I’m at a similar stage. From what I’ve learned from the guys on this forum, if there’s no fresh blood everything is all good. Plus, I’m guess some light brushing of your scalp against a soft pillow isn’t going to cause any harm. It’s the bangs you gotta worry about!
  7. (Apologies for my anxiety!) @jjalay thanks for responding and your time. I guess I’m wondering though if there is a halfway house. Say, not dislodging the graft, but the trauma still killing it. So symptomless (in terms of immediacy) but still the long term negative outcome (i.e. the graft doesn’t grow).
  8. Thanks guys! Can I ask a general question following on from this? If I (or anyone else) damages some grafts, will we see a symptom of this damage? Eg blood or a dislodged graft sitting on your scalp? Or conversely, is it possible to have a damaged graft with no physical manifestations of that damage? (Say for example, a graft is killed but stays within the scalp and the skin around it does not bleed).
  9. Hey everyone, I'm 11 days post-op, healing going well...except I just banged my head on the luggage compartment in the train on the way home. I'd describe it as a 'light' bang - no pain or ringing sensation. Also, no blood. At 11 days post-op, most of the scabs are gone, but there are a few remaining. The bang did nothing to effect them, and all the scabs are still in place as was before the bang. Still, I can't help freaking out. Could I have caused some damage? Is it possible to cause damage, maybe harm or 'kill' the grafts, without a visible sign like fresh blood? Please help me understand guys! Thanks
  10. My question was more around will this have an impact on graft survival, rather than is this causing pain.
  11. Hey fellas, I'm 1 day post op, and had a call with a family member and got some bad news (won't go into the details....), which have additionally also caused some arguments between myself and someone else whom I care about. After I took a call, I could feel my scalp twitching....hurting almost. Pinching feelings in the recipient. I checked the mirror - no fresh blood, everything seemed exactly as it had done prior to this bad news. Do you think there's a chance this kind of emotional state, so close after a procedure can cause problems to the grafts? Of course, there's a chance I'm just being paranoid and slight discomfort is to be expected, but it's just that I noticed it after a bad/heated conversation I had to have. Any help would be really appreciated. (Also, as a catch-all, am I correct in thinking if any damage had been done you'd see the graphs 'pop' on your scalp so to speak and consequently there'd be blood - and if this hasn't happened they're still in place and a raised heart rate due to stress can't cause any problems?)
  12. You’ve got a hairline like Clarke Kent! Congrats man - you must be over the moon.
  13. @Digs49 you're welcome 😉 I meant, in your write-up you said you stopped fin for a few days before and a few days after (but then resumed). Just wondering what the need for this pause on fin was for? I get the need to pause oral min (or topical for that matter lol). But why pause fin?
  14. What a result! Congratulations man, you must be so happy. Obviously chose well - seems like a great doc. What was the rational on stopping fin pre and post op?
  15. Hi everyone, If someone gets a beard hair (donor) to scalp (recipient) hair transplant and there is folliculitis in the beard, does this folliculitis get transplanted in the scalp? I've read folliculitis is bacteria in the hair itself so it makes sense the scalp would have folliculitis after transplant. Can anyone shed their thoughts or experiences on this? Thank you in advance 😉
  16. And also, on finasteride, should you carry on taking it as normal throughout the days pre-surgery and post-surgery, or is it important to stop that too?
  17. So what’s the best thing to do then? Stop it before the transplant or keep taking it?
