  1. Aaahh, the surgeon who quoted me $9.50 a graft for FUT strip procedure of 2,500 grafts. I have nothing but respect for the good doctor, but man oh man. "The fee for your Follicular Unit Transplantation procedure is $23,750 ($9.50/graft). A 30% deposit ($7,125) is required to schedule surgery. The deposit is applied to the surgical fee and is refundable up to three weeks (21 days) prior to your procedure. If your schedule is very flexible a courtesy rate may be available. Please contact Barbara Werner at 212-826-2400 to discuss payment and financing options. The Bernstein Medical – Center for Hair Restoration is a surgical facility accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). We ask our patients to have the following laboratory tests prior to surgery: HIV-1 Elisa, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen and Antibody, Hepatitis C Antibody and CBC. Our supplies and instruments are either disposable or sterilized to prevent the transmission of communicable diseases. Our office employs comprehensive infection control measures for rigorous adherence to all Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) standards."
  2. Not that I am aware of. I am assuming you clean the bed sheets the next day as well?
  3. Thank you very much Dr Feller & Dr Bloxham. Very very informative video once again, and seems to make a lot of sense. No doubt now we are experiencing a little quiet before the storm when all the haters are going to start chiming in. I can't wait for someone to comment on the way you were initially holding that plastic strip though - but I will defer the 1st thought that popped into my head. Bad hair day there Dr. Feller?
  4. In fact, if I ever have a son, I will encourage him to get in Fin and start using Rogaine as soon as the dr allows, regardless of whether he still has a thick head of hair.
  5. Buddy - I know you don't want to, but the best thing you can do now is get on Fin and start applying Rogain everyday. Don't stop either. You can definitely have a HT later on, but a HT alone won't help you if you are headed towards a high NW. Trust me on this, you will live to regret not getting on Fin and Rogaine while you still have the hair you have. If someone had given me this same advice when I was 17, then that would have been the best piece of advice someone has ever given me.
  6. Very nice gesture Dr. Feller. Lucky break there London, you saved yourself a couple of thousand dollars. I guess a blind chicken can find its corn every once in a while - haha I would love to be a fly in the wall during that first in-person consultation tween London and Dr. Feller, gotta be somewhat awkward. Kinda like the Seinfeld episode where Kramer ditched his old barber for a new one, and then tried to come back - haha Happy for you mate!
  7. I highly recommend Erdogan if you are going with a Turkish surgeon.
  8. London. I see your point. Having read both posts, I am not disputing the contradictory statements. However, in your case your 1st procedure was approx 1,250 grafts, which isn't a lot at all. In Shapoo's post, he mentions that his 1st procedure was in exess of 4,000 grafts. Therefore I can see why the good Dr. told Shampoo to wait at least 8 months. Depending on how you read the post it can be interpreted that Dr was specifically recommending that in this particular instance Shampoo wait at least 8 months, or that he was making a blanket statement that applies to all. If it's the later, then your point is valid. However, I suspect the good Dr. meant the former as he was answering a direct question. In your instance with less than 2,000 grafts, it also makes sense why the Dr. recommended a shorter period of 6 months. Bottom line though is I really don't think this has anything to do with the Dr's credibility, I really don't - even if your point is valid.
  9. Oh, and my deepest apologies for not explaining why I apparently HATE Rahal and other FUT surgeons. I thought the answer was obvious. I guess not, so let me break it down for you. The reason I hate them is because I am a top secret agent for Erdogan, so by default I hate any surgeon that is not him. Good enough for you detective? Any other questions detective?
  10. That's frustrating. I bet you a bag has never fallen onto your head before on an airplane, and the first time it does is when you are 2 days post HT. That must be incredibly annoying - sorry
  11. Classic Feller bashing http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/179706-strip-vs-fue-vs-mfue-dr-alan-feller-great-neck-ny-post2433205.html#post2433205
  12. Here is another prime example of Feller bashing by me http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/179706-strip-vs-fue-vs-mfue-dr-alan-feller-great-neck-ny-post2433475.html#post2433475
  13. Feller basher huh??? Consistently bases Feller??? Stop it buddy, you are embarrassing yourself http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/179743-just-had-mega-session-fue-im-freaking-out-post2433843.html#post2433843
  14. Sorry mate, I definitely wasn't going after you - my post is aimed at the person who was originally going after the Dr. with 6 months vs 8 months. Sorry, you're at was just the last in the trail. All good
  15. yes you got me there - I'm a top secret online rep for Erdogan - not only that, but I know who killed Kennedy. Oh, and now that the secret is out, will anyone from Erdogans office please PM me as I would like to collect my money now from that payroll. I accept cash or a wire transfer.
  16. Wow REALLY, we are debating 2 freakin months - really???? I would guess that he said 6 months in one post because he transplanting grafts in a previously untouched area maybe, whilst the facts & circumstances may have been different for the other patient. Bottom line - WHO FREAKIN cares.
  17. Don't worry too much buddy. The good news is that Dr Dorin is a highly regarded and solid surgeon. You don't see Many only complaints of him, and he is definitely one of the best in New York. I made a similar error to you when I selected my surgeon as I wanted to be close to his surgery for the after care. That ended up being unnecessary. I only got a limited amount of grafts, and now have to plan for a. 2nd to get additional density. It's not a train smash, but it's annoying and hurts the wallet. I believe Dorin charges $5.5/6 a graft and it doesn't decrease after the first couple of thousand grafts. The top surgeons like Hasson charge $5 a graft for the 1st 2,000 grafts, and then it decreases to $3 a graft. If you travel to Feriduni in Belgium, it's even cheaper. Bottom line is that Dorin is way to expensive, and doesn't cater towards the mega-sessions. I don't take any exception to him taking a conservative approach and preferring multiple sessions to larger single megassessions. (There are many pros to this approach). I just find it inexcusable that a top surgeon like Dorin under-delivered so much in his instance. How is it even possible for him not to recommend you perform scalp laxity exercises before the procedure. If he did, and u did the exercises, there is no doubt he could have gotten the 3,000 grafts. You have every reason to be angry and upset. Did Dorin refund you for the 300 grafts he couldn't get? Unfortunately, for me, all the surgeons I consulted with estimated my total grafts at around 6,000 which is average. However, you luckily have a lot more to work with, so I think you should be able to get sufficient coverage over your lifetime. As I said, not a massive train smash, and you now have a year to do a lot more research for your 2nd procedure. If you are worried about financial burden, then perhaps consider going with someone in Turkey or Belgium. Feriduni is one of the best, although he has a 9 month waiting list, so try get on that list now. If you prefer to stay in the U.S. Consider Ron Shapiro, Rahal, Hasson, or Konior. I really apologize for not seeing your 1st posts otherwise I would have advised you to expand your consultations.
  18. Just read your other thread "I went in for a consultation with Dr. True (NYC) recently and, after a careful look at my head, he told me that I'm actually a NW5V with probably around 7000 - 8000 total donors. He suggested we shoot for 3000 grafts and try to cover the vertex as well." With such a high donor supply, I think it is completely unacceptable that Dr Dorin, a coalition & recommended surgeon, could not have gotten the 3,000 grafts. If you had weak scalp laxity then he should have recommended a couple of months of performing scalp laxititivity exercises. Based on the timing of your posts, doesn't look like he even had much of a waitlist. I'm very sorry I missed your initial thread, because I would have highly recommended you consider traveling for your procedure, and would have recommended Konior, Shapiro, Rahal, or Hasson. All of those can get 3,000 + grafts in one single session with ease. I know Dr. Dorin is a solid surgeon, and I was impressed with some of his results, but he is not one of the top HT surgeons and this should show why there is a difference between the top surgeons and the tier 2 ones.
  19. Owch, that's very unlucky that you bumped your head like that. Hope it's not a lot of grafts. Just curious if Dr Dorin had pre-laxity exercises in the pre-op instructions? I suspect if that was omitted then that's the reason he may not have been able to get the 3,000 grafts. Not knocking True & Dorin, but 3,000 grafts isn't too difficult to get in this day and age and unless you had really bad scalp laxity (which I assume Dr Dorin would had evaluated in your in-person consultation), it should be unacceptable that Dr Dorin couldn't get the number of grafts he estimated and charged you for. One of the few cons i noted for this clinic when I consuted with them was that they don't do larger megassessions and require you to come back for multiple sessions to meet your expectations. Honestly, if I were you I would be slightly pissed at the low graft count. If you were going for 5,000 grafts and they only got 4,700 - then no harm no foul, but when we are dealing with 3,000 grafts for a virgin FUT, then I think it's pure sloppiness.
  20. Pricing is driven by the market my friend, surgeons will price their services according to what patients are willing to pay. U.S. Surgeons are just charging what enough patients are willing to pay. The real question should be why U.S. Patients are willing to pay these high fees when they can get the same/higher quality FUE in Europe and Turkey and still make a significant saving after you factor in the costs of travel.
  21. I told my boss I was involved in an accident and had lalterations on the head requiring stitches (mostly truth) - therefore needed to wear a cap for a couple of weeks to hide the mess. Of course I had a lot of co-workers concerned if I was okay and whether I got tested for concussion and would just drop dead ect ect - to which my boss responded - oh don't worry about his head, he will be fine because there is nothing in there anyway.
  22. The fact that Dr Rahal abandoned it for manual FUE should tell you everything you need to know.
  23. Unfortunately you picked an unknown surgeon, but luckily it wasn't a massive procedure. I'm not sure you got enough grafts to achieve a dense enough hairline though, so I would suspect you may need to go for a 2nd procedure in a year. Moving forward, I highly suggest researching this forum like crazy. Also be open to traveling, however, you have one of the best of the best right in your backyard - Dr Konior.
