  1. Agreed, I'd say the 6-10 week period is the real ugly duckling phase. The good news is you should start to see some growth in the coming weeks, although that in itself makes it a little more noticable that something is going on, but hey, its a small price to pay and I know personally by that point I kinda didn't care. I am still getting these even now. I have a stubbon crusty spot (or what was a spot) in the recipient area, but I'm worried to rub too hard to remove it in case a hair or two comes with it. If anything, I feel like recipient area is a little more scaly and spoty recently, but I think its down to the cold weather and central heating just generally drying out my skin. Been meaning to check the forum for some shampoo recommendations to perhaps help the scalp a little. What you shampooing with these days?
  2. Looking amazing Renaissance! Curious, did you notice much growth between the 4th and 5th month?
  3. Haha, thanks, I am really pleased so far. Won't be long before you'll be enjoying the hair gains too Thanks Will. Will post some proper pics on Saturday.
  4. Hey, sorry been busy moving home the past week or so been a bit tardy on the forum. A little difficult to judge about the density as I see it daily, but I think its definitely improving and the weaker patch in the front seems to have sprouted a little hair so that’s good. I'm getting lots of compliments at the moment. I saw two friends for dinner on Sunday (one hasn't seen me in 2 years and the other was early Dec when it was at its worse) and both were shocked about how great it looked and just at lunch today (in the office) one of the ladies who knows I had it done and I hadn't seen for about 2-3 weeks just came up to me and said how great it looks. I also got it cut on Saturday and I think that’s really helped too. The slightly longer fringe now covers the incoming growth and that and density to date means the new hairline is looking pretty solid already. Its still early days though, so hopefully the growth continues. Anyway, I'm 4 months to the date on Saturday so I will post a number of pictures from different angles then. Just need to figure out the best spot in my new apartment as some lighting like the bathroom, is quite harsh.
  5. Hey hamburger, looks like you have quite a few darker dots in the transplanted area. I reckon you'll see growth really kick in this month. Let the fun begin.
  6. Thanks, I think you'll really start to see things escalate in the next 3-4 weeks. I know for me I had some growth from month 2 but it was a little difficult to tell and compare to a week or so before, but then around last week Dec (10 weeks) through mid Jan, it really started to sprout, so the the fun times are coming for you!
  7. Hi Will, it is, but technically speaking Asmed recommends people don't use proper hair styling products (mousse, gel, wax, etc) for 6 months so only thing I use to style it is a little mix of aloe vera gel and sweet almond oil, both of which Asmed recommended for the scalp to relieve redness but I use as a make shift hair product. BTW, I see from another thread that you have booked in with Asmed, congrats, they are a great team and you are in safe hands!
  8. Hi nehaverma, thanks for the post, but I asked the question last April and I am now 3 1/2 months post surgery.
  9. Here you go, one with hair held back and one as it is day-to-day. As you can see definitely patchier in the centre but I have taken a few close up shots of the patchier areas and I can see one or two dots in those areas so that makes a little happier. 2nd shot is with hair down, not a brilliant pic, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like day to day. Hair on top isn't long enough yet to cover the new incoming hairline but the growth so far as already created quite a definate hair line (particaurly the temples from a distance) and its already doing a good job of re-framing my face. Had yet another person ask me if I'd done something different with my hair today.
  10. Looking awesome Richie. Do you have any picture of the actual hair line itself?
  11. Just thought I'd share a quick comparison picture. Top is from 20th Jan, bottom 11th Jan, 9 days earlier. Front is still a litte behind the temples for overall growth, i.e. It's a little patchier, but so far I'm very happy with the growth and in just the last week I have had 2-3 people comment about how good my hair was looking or asking if it's done something different with it. Just hoping all this good growth continues and the odd little weak patch in the front catches up.
  12. Hey, I'd say those are definitely hairs based on my experience and it was the temples where I really saw it start too. Hair gains be coming!
  13. Renaissance, check your notes, my Asmed notes definitely says 1 month not 2.
  14. Hi Kiraly, its a little difficult to compare to because your one before pic isn't the best to really see what the hairline looked like before. 4 months is still quite early days but you should definately be seeing some growth. Do you have any pre-HT hair line pictures to better compare the progress? Also, in terms of dots, they are hairs that are about to pop through the scalp so it shouldn't mean more new hair isn't coming, but just not right now. I am about a month behind you and 2-3 weeks ago the very front was much weaker compared to the temples, but that has improved in the last few weeks. Have a look back at some of the other detailed threads and I think you'll find comments where people notice significant changes around the 5-6 month period.
  15. I'd say yes, thats when I started noticing small hairs in my temple area.
  16. Thanks hkuser, I got my hair cut on Friday and decided against the buzz cut in the end but they did take a lot of the bulk off the top (but less so towards the fringe) so the front really blends in much better IMHO. Here are some pics. Sorry for the weird angles on some, difficult to take the pictures myself.
  17. Lol, or well as you know from the HT (where it's shaved almost to the bone), it'll grown back within a week or so. My hair has always grown quickly so I like it quite short on the side and back and I think I can get away with 1.5 grade. I had my hair cut last night so I'll post some pictures on my thread later.
  18. Looks shorter than grade 3? Is guard and grade the same? I have mine shaved to grade 1.5 which is possibly a little shorter than I should go as I think you can see it a little if your looking for something.. but I keep in mind, as should you, that 99% wouldn't think anyone of it and ever if they did they probably wouldn't even think of a HT as it's still a very uncommon procedure.
  19. Thanks Ernie  Yeah, its changing quite fast. I'm not overly stressing as I know its very early days, but the pessimist in me can't help but worry a little. As for the buzz cut, I am really in two minds. As you can see below (picture taken today at the office), front doesn't quite cover it yet. Its almost there so I am tempted to keep it longer so that I have some shape and of course the top is getting to the point where I'll soon be triming that too so it'll eventully catch up.
  20. Sorry I only referring to the hair on the top of my head. I have had my sides and back cut about 3, possibly 4 times already and I'm going to get it cut again this weekend. I meant I was going to perhaps get it all buzzed down to grade 3 or 4 so that the new hair growing in isn't so obvious.
  21. Yes, its been really growing since these past 2-3 weeks. Everyone is different, how long did your shed take? You'll be sprouting any time soon. Thanks ersko72, hoping to get as good a result as you! I am thinking about it but will wait anther month or so. Thanks, hopefully the momentum continues.
  22. Hard to believe its 3 months today since my surgery. Growth seems to be kicking in nicely. If I'm totally honest 5% of me is annoyed that the front is a little weaker at this stage (see first pic), but the more reasonable 95% of me recognizes I'm at the early stages of growth so a long way to go yet. Plus if I look closely at the center were its a little patchier, I can see the odd black dot of hair that's due to break through, so I have my fingers and toes crossed Pics are from this evening. I normally wear it down more to hide the growth.
  23. Thanks WillHT, fingers crossed! Yes, I waited until after 4 weeks which is the advice that Asmed clinic gives. Some suggest less but I wanted to stick to their guidelines. Although I did technically go to the gym after week 3, but only walked (literally just walked) on the treadmill, but that was mainly because I was worried about struggling to get back into the gym after a month off so figured it would help my mindset just being back in the gym.
  24. To be fair this is probably the most demoralizing time. It was around 3-4 weeks with me too and in the space of a week the shed had annihilated my new hairline. However, if you are like me, you'll soon get use to it. If anything, the whole HT has probably made me less conscious about my hair, at least at this stage in time. After walking around the hotel with a shaved head, then post surgery at the hotel, airport etc I quickly stopped caring. In the words of 'Frozen', let it go! and accept you have no control of it right now and if its any consultation, I think that the quicker the shed, the quicker you'll see the regrowth.
