  1. Rad sounds exhausting. At least it is now all over and the healing process begins. Looking forward to seeing some pics. Erdogan has some great results so I'm sure all the pain and discomfort will be worth it in the end even if it perhaps doesn't feel like that right now.
  2. That was my first thought. Erdogan's clinic looks like it produces great work but on the site it does say that extractions are done by the technicians under his guidance... which is fine if they are very experienced but clincs don't seem to share info on the assistants so who's to say who does it on the day and how much experience they have.
  3. Good to hear you didn't have any further nausea, I wonder if it was the Zanax? Hope you sleep better this evening, I would imagine the first night is the hardest. BTW, can I ask did you fill in the online consult with Erdogan? I completed the online form last night and I'm wondering how long before I can expect a reply (I'm so impatience).
  4. Okay thanks, thats not too bad. As you mentioned reality might be another story. I'm sure many doctors paint a bit more of a positive picture if they can . Do we know why some grafts fail?
  5. Decow, thanks for the update. Sounds like they looked after you well. I'm asuming you posted this when you got back to the hotel last night. Did you feel any more nausea once you were back at the hotel? How did you sleep?
  6. I'm just curious as to whether there is any data out there on what percentage of grafts typically take or fail (yield?). I appreciate there is no definitive answer but on average (perhaps based on long time posters/users experiences) do most grafts take assuming everything is optional (health, diet, meds perhaps?).
  7. Decow, good luck tomorrow. I'm inclined to get my HT done in Turkey and Erdogan (along with Doganay and Demisory) is one of the HT surgeons I'm considering so really keen to read how your HT experience goes and to see your results.
  8. Okay, so I had a consult this evening with Ziering Medical here in London (UK). Firstly you see the sales guy and he was very friendly but full of the usual sales banter. Then I got to meet Dr Edward Ball. He was very nice, very friendly. I instantly liked him (unlike my experience with Dr Shahmalak at the Crown Clinic back in Sept). He asked what I was looking to achieve and I explained and he drew what he thought would be a good hair line. It looked good, but I explained that I wanted to fill in the temples for a little more youthful look, so he lowered in slightly and you can see the markings in the pics below. Quite happy with what he suggested although as small part of me would go even a little lower again in the temples In terms of grafts he suggested about 1300-1400 but they wrote down 1300 on the quote but he did say that because I have very good density in the area where the HT would be that he would ideally do a 2nd surgery to get the HT closer to the same level of density. Some other interesting things from the consult, he said that (if I recall correctly) that because of my age (46) and the density of the remaining hair (or something like that) that he would be shocked if if I lost much more. This makes quite happy because I am a bit reluctant about taking meds post op and this news makes me worry a little less about the need for a 2nd treatment simply to compensate for further loss. Oddly they both (sales guy and Dr) said my crown was really good which is confusing as The Belgravia Clinic suggested I had some very light thinning in the crown. Finally, I was a little worried about my donor area, but turns out I needn't have been. He said I have above average density and another plus was that while my hair was quite thick, the hair in the donor area isn't course. Anyway, overall good consult and it did leave me considering them as an option if I was to get it done in the UK. Oh forgot to mention prices. Based on 1300 and manual FUE, I was quoted ?5850 or ?6000 if they used the 'state of the art' ARTAS robotic machine.
  9. Maybe look at Dr. Nader in Reynosa, Mexico. **outside links removed by moderator**
  10. Hi Cloudy, just found this thread and really enjoyed reading and seeing your progress. Any updates. You can't be far off your 1 year anniversary? Also very interesting to read you aren't taking any meds. I would like a HT and would really prefer not too take meds after due to some of the reported side effects. Are you still just on the Biotin? No other hair supplements?
  11. This crossed my mind too. Can you get travellers cheques and cash them locally at a bank? With regards to travelling back, I've seen quite a few recommending staying for 3 nights and some throw in 3 nights stay as part of the price. Actually, I just looked at according to his pricing page, the total price "includes 3 days accommodation at hospital, food, transportation in Antalya (not the flight ticket), after care medicines and shampoo and free PRP.". Maybe just confirm with them. Personally I plan to stay at least 3 night just in case there are any issues. If on the very remote chance there were issues and you were concerned, but to be nearby so that you can see Dr Doganay in person rather than having to try and explain over the phone... at least that's my opinion. Good luck with your HT though, please keep us posted and upload pics, etc.
  12. That's a little worrying. I'm thinking of going with Erdogan for my HT so a little troubling to read that follow-up might not be great with them. I guess its possible your email might have been caught in a spam filter? Maybe give them a quick call.
  13. Okay, some individual pictures with hair clipped back to see things more clearly. Would really appreciate if someone could comment. Any thoughts on the number of grafts? As I mentioned above Dr Shahmalak suggested 1400 grafts, but when he marked up my head I remember thinking it was quite conservative and he didn't lower the hair line at all. On IMG_8.jpg I've tried to draw in how I would perhaps like the hairline to be after a HT. Is that realistic and based on my pics? How many grafts do you think I would need to cover that kinda area? BTW, one thing I forgot to mention above was that the Belgravia clinic said I did have some minor thinning on the crown. I totally hadn't even noticed it until the said. So would that make me 3 Vertex on the Norwood scale?
  14. Hi all! I'm pretty new here but been reading lots of posts these past few days and trying to take in all the info. I'm 46 have have Norwood stage 3 (I think). Would really like to restore my hairline and temples to look more youthful. Had a couple of consults several years ago but never proceeded with them as they were too expensive. Decided to re-look at it again this year and saw Dr Shahmalak from the Crown Clinic (Manchester/London) last month and he suggested 1400 grafts but wanted GBP 7k for FUE. I pretty much instantly ruled him out as he seemed rather cold and uninterested. A bit put off I decided to look into non surgical options and went to the Belgravia Centre (as I work near there anyway) just to see what they say and they suggested a course of minoxidil 12.5%, year long treatment plan (regular check ups etc. would be ?870. I was pondering this when I discovered another HT forum and realised that getting a HT in Europe was a cheaper and probably wiser option and that is kinda of where I am now, researching HT options in Europe. Although Dr Shahmalak suggested 1400, I'm probably looking for something a little more aggressive (want more of a youthful hairline) so I'm assuming closer to 1800-2000 grafts. Having spent the past week or so scouring the forums I'm pretty certain I'm going to go with someone in Turkey. Cost is an consideration which is why I'm inclined to Turkey, but its equally important that its a good surgeon with a great track records and it seems that Turkey has two great surgeons in Dr Koray Erdogan and Dr Hakan Doganay. The more I read the more I'm inclined towards Dr. Koray Erdogan. For me restoring the hairline to a more youthful appearance is the most important factor. He seems to do hair lines well, would other agree? What are people's thoughts on Dr Hakan Doganay. I'm seen him mentioned on the list of top FUE surgeons but excluded from others on here. Is that because he use machine for extraction? Another question I have is about booking. Are these guys typically booked several months in advance? I saw in an earlier posted today that Feriduni is booked until July 2015 and that has me worried as my current plan was to perhaps do this over the Easter holidays next year. I have also attached a picture showing my hair from various angles. Not sure if you can make it out, but in the collage, pics 1, 5 and 6 are how I normally style it. Pics 2, 3 and 4 I wet it and combed it back so you can see how high the temples and hair loss is. Any feedback/comments much appreciated .. and p.s LOVE this forum!
