    Depends on your type of hair, (curly, thin, thick etc) and what type of additional loss you have experienced and will experience. After my second HT, when I was dissatisfied, the docs started to inform me because my hair was thin and light(ish) that I would have see through hair, and extra grafts would not make a bigger difference.. you need to let go of the idea of having a dense thick hair.. and go for something cosmetically you can be happy with. HT can only do so much

    I'm not to sure about your grafts, or what your expectations were. The grafts and this HT 'seem' like its a 2000 HT and decent one Your hair is thick and dark, so could do your hair up nicely if you choose too, and I think you could achieve a good look.

    "illusion of coverage". Coverage is coverage. The illusion is the density Very good point to make, and you are 100% correct. The illusion of density which will be clear when you step out of the shower. Or that your pictures will need the right lighting so that your hair looks full However, the illusion of coverage still holds merit, and accurately describes a HT. My coverage works when I comb my hair the right way so the hairs all cover each other. I also use a excellent barber that gives me that coverage look. With the right blend of concealers my coverage and density look amazing (providing its not sunny or strong lighting) I also have illusion of coverage problems with short hair. My hairline has coverage, but up close but my density is sparse illusion of coverage and illusion of density go hand in hand. That's how I see it.

    Right, I'll update my profile with additional info, but I don't want to high jack this thread In a glance way back when, my long term goals, were, FUT, FUT, FUE I wanted Rahal for the hairline, Lindsey for a small strip scar, and then to FUE with Shapiro. (at the time Rahal was not doing FUE)

    I love H&W. At the start of my 'journey' I was too focused on the hairline, and not the big picture. being a NW5A, if I could go back, I would have just gone with them, and never looked twice.

    " I guess some of it is Psychological. " Oh no question your condition is more psychological. Before you go have a HT. You need to talk to a professional head doctor. You are money in the bank for any clinic. It would be all but impossible to for you to have a bad result.

    and the answer is.. maybe it will maybe it will not. You roll the dice and take your chance. Some might fall out or none. Some might fall out and come back, and some might fall out and not come back. Now there not ALL going to fall out, but my own personal experience, I had what I feel a high number of native hair that left and didn't come back. I think with a 2 HT the choice in a clinic is more important then the first one. edited, so its clear that I had shock loss native (haha) hair

    "I am thinking of undergoing a HT and am a Norwood 6." I agree with Matt1978, a NW6 would need 7,500 to 10,000+ grafts 5k of grafts in the front third with a good clinic would give a good illusion of coverage. Which I think you would be satisfied with the results.

    Great advice 1978matt. OP, your going to be a NW5A. If your typical NW5A, and the meds don't work, you probably will see another big recession after 30 sometime. Hopefully the meds work, and we never see you again. If you do go HT, you want to be extra super careful about your hairline. This is where a doctor will want to place all your grafts to create a strong hairline and just leave your crown alone (makes better sales pictures). BUT! a recession type of hairline is manly. Look at jude law's, recession/hair line. Like 1978mat stated, as a NW5A, you will chase this forever if you got HT. Though I feel you could have a 'satisfactory' result if you plan it all out long term. Off hand I would think Hansom and Wong would be your best bet as your life time doctor for a NW5A. HT now, and another HT in 4 years or so, and then another HT in 2 or 3 years after that, all strip of course, then fue the scar. BYW, I am not a doctor, I only have picture of a doctor as my icon so you will trust and believe everything I say like I'm spouting off form the Bible

    Maybe in a perfect world, but price is a factor, and saying it shouldn't matter is not being realistic

    Your kind of a dick arn't ya? If you are a NW 3 or 4, and you have a HT, fine your probably good. If you are prone to go beyond that, a HT will last you about 5 years, and you will need another. Anyone getting a HT should understand that your $10k is not the end. In 5 years, you will need another. That if you are a NW 5 and want to look like a poster child for a clinic, you will spend about 30k when its all said and done, and you STILL will be masking your hairloss. And that's if everything goes your way.. maybe the grafts just don't take one surgery. Or maybe despite going with a top doc, you have big scar for unknown reasons. No amount of money, or sugenon will make your hair go back to its former youthful glory. It's not physically possible. I am no way anti HT, I just believe in the best possible education and presenting the most honest and real expectations, so someone can make the bestest possible choice for them. To many people say I wish I never had a HT, and with a board like this out there to educate, that should never ever happen

    That is why I was asking. In my multiple hours of being a internet doctor, have not come across it. Curious if its a valid therapy, hype or a warm fuzzy

    Anyone hear about a clinic using "laser" therapy to speed up healing after a HT??

    This patient had his HT in 2011, and 5500 grafts at the very least he should have mop on his head. How do we lets this happen to a forum member here, and 3 TIMES!! What is stressing is you have David, Taking the plunge saying "great job" "looks good" every step of the way .

As a guy who is looking at a 3rd, this has me worried on my doctor selection I just think for 5500 grafts the results should be more focused. Was it the doctor, the person, hair type.
