  1. Heya, I don't know about MB30 but I had mine done with Dr De Reys. Here's my journal: 5000 FUE with Dr De Reys - Hair Transplant Patient Results/updates - Hair Transplant section - Hairloss Experiences Hairloss Forum It was 7000 euros not 7000 pounds for 3000 grafts so it was a lot cheaper than a lot of other doctors and De Reys really did extract every single hair himself. As for the quality, well, I'm very happy with the result. Have a look at the photos. Will

  5. Hey all, just posted the 4 month update pics, they're in the original post. Check it out!!!
  6. That's bad news MB30. Did you get a consultation with Dr De Reys in the end?
  7. They're on his Facebook page too. I think there's more videos on the Facebook page than the youTube channel.
  8. Hey, I'm going to put up some more photos soon but I've had a ton of questions so I thought I'd answer a few of those first. The doctor prescribed me finasteride 1mg during the first op. I'd never taken any medication or shampoos before and I think it's helping but it's not making any new hairs. Dr De Reys kind of explained it to me and he said he was going to put an interview about it on his Facebook page but I haven't seen it yet. Maybe he's scared of those big drug companies :-O There's loads about finasteride and regonaine online but has anyone from the forum got any advice for me? Is it true about those side-effects? Should I start with minoxidl as well/instead? Seems to be going well with just finasteride so far... Cheers, Will
  9. This is a question that's been asked a lot and it's always a good one. I went to Dr De Reys in Europe so I can recommend him. Here's my journal: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/165487-5000-fue-dr-de-reys-3.html ...BUT(!) here's another thread on the same topic from a while back where Dr De Reys is discussed by the actual publishers of this forum as well and they know what they're talking about: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/154649-who-best-fue-doctor.html
  10. I went with De Reys. His work is great. He used to be lead surgeon at the Pro Hair clinic so he's got tons of experience. He didn't overcharge and for me the best thing was that he actually did the operation himself and didn't leave it to any junior doctors or 'technicians' who are not actually doctors themselves. You get what you pay for and you don't overpay. Here's my journal atlhough I guess you've prob seen it already. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/165487-5000-fue-dr-de-reys-3.html
  11. Dr De Reys is one of the best surgeons out there. He did a fantastic job on me. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/165487-5000-fue-dr-de-reys.html He's been around for ages because he used to be the lead surgeon at Pro Clinic. I'm going to add some updates to my journal next week. He's pretty rare - a top surgeon who doesn't overcharge. He also doesn't try and pack patients in to an assembly line and knock them out in a day. He always split my operations over two days and took his time. Top doctor.
  12. Hey Sebastian, I get what you're saying but if you research more you'll see that there are quite a few others who recommend Dr De Reys for FUE. His own clinic is new, like you say, but he's been around for a long time. A guy on here called Matt who's a senior member knows about De Reys too. De Reys is well-known because he was lead surgeon at the Pro CLinic. That's part of the reason why I chose him - I knew he had tons of experience - especially with FUE. The other reason was that I like to keep my hair short sometimes (it's nice having the option now )so I didn't want a massive scar on the back of my head. I knew FUE was the only choice for me. Like you, I also did loads of research before I chose my surgeon so I think you're doing exactly the right thing. In the end, I actually found Dr De Reys on another forum, a German-speaking one called Alopezia.de where there are loads of photos of his work from past patients - mostly Germans. Speaking German helps but there's always Google translate Also there's a bunch of his past patient videos on youtube which I looked at too. He was good at answering questions when I wrote to him and I asked him about Finasteride too. I think you're doing the right thing by informing yourself, that's exactly what I did so I know how it feels. If you look you'll find, good luck with your research! Cheers, Will
  13. Hey vpergrm, I paid 7000 euros for 3000 grafts with Dr De Reys. He charges less and does a great job - I think some of the criticism is because he's undercutting the other docs here on the forum Glad you like the photos, I'm going to add some more soon. Cheers, Will
  14. Hiya, Again, I'd echo Matt1978's advice here. I had 5000 grafts done by Dr De Reys and he's really good. You can see some photos here: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/165487-5000-fue-dr-de-reys.html

  16. Just added some two month updates. I've got to push hair back to see them now!
  17. Also, you mentioned fatigue being an issue and I think you're right there but not with this doctor. De Reys split my 3000 graft operation over two days. He took his time and gave me plenty of breaks so fatigue wasn't an issue for me or for him. While I was researching this operation I went to see other doctors who were doing these so-called 'mega-sessions' in a single day with lots of junior doctors rotating and I'm glad I didn't go for that. To be honest I think I'd feel cheated if I paid a lot of money for a doctor and someone else ended up doing the actual operation but I guess we're all different. Rod, I think some of your questions are really good and so I might update the journal with some of these answers. Is that OK for you? Cheers, Will
  18. Hi Rod, I've been keeping a journal on this site for a few months now. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/165487-5000-fue-dr-de-reys.html His wife is a trained nurse so it's not amateurish - remember, he used to be the lead surgeon at the Pro Clinic so he's transplanted literally more than a million grafts by now. While I was researching I didn't see any complaints (maybe from other docs that he's undercutting them The main thing I liked about Dr De Reys is that he extracted every single hair himself when I was there, he didn't leave it to junior doctors - or even worse - non-medical staff. I think there's a risk that some of these 'expensive' doctors just palm it off to a junior and so you end up paying a lot of money just to have a big name doctor who is 'supervising' the operation. That's not right.
  19. Sorry, i'm a bit late to this post but I went to Dr De Reys to get it done in July last year and then I went back in January this year. He did a great job. To be honest, I originally had the same thoughts as you MB30. Should I pay double to one of the doctors who are regularly recommended by other posters in the forum or go with this offer? I found out that Dr De Reys used to be the lead surgeon at Pro Clinic and so I knew he had a good reputation. I ended up doing lots of research and found photos of his past work and I liked what I saw. That's the reason I went for it in the end. The results from past patients were really good and I wanted to have that kind of result. When I was there, he made a point of transplanting every single hair and not losing any grafts so I can vouch for that. I ended up having both ops with him. Where he saves on costs is by not employing lots of extra staff or renting a mansion to do the operation in. It's a simple set-up but his clinic has all the latest equipment and since he works with his wife (who is a nurse), it's run as a family business. I preferred that because it seemed genuine to me. I think a lot of doctors here trade on their reputation and you end up paying double for what is basically the same job - if you can afford it, that's fine but I'm dead happy with the results. Loads of people have complimented me on it, in real life and on the forums. Will Here's a link to my post-op journal: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/165487-5000-fue-dr-de-reys.html
  20. Dr De Reys is really good, I had 5000 grafts done with him in two separate operations. He charges less because he doesn't employ lots of technical staff. I don't think he would go down as low as you want to, though. You might want to save a bit more.
  21. @1978Matt and Yiddo, Sorry it took so long but here are the answers to your questions. Q1. How did you find him? A1. I googled Dr De Reys to find his website. It doesn't usually appear on the top of the google list but it can be found if you scroll down. Q2. How many techs does he use? A2. I'm not sure what you mean by this so I'm going to answer this question twice.. techs - what technology does he use? He only does FUE and he does it with a 0.75mm needle (or puncher, whatever the technical term is!). To be honest, I don't know much about the technical stuff but I'd seen photos of his work from when he was lead surgeon at the Pro Clinic and I liked what I saw. techs - how many technical assistants does he have? He only worked with his wife, Gina who is a trained nurse. Dr De Reys extracted all the hairs himself and placed most of them too although Gina did some placing as well. He doesn't have any technical assistants. Q3. What was your stay like? A3. My stay was fine. The town Heist-Op-Den-Berg is a small country town with a long main street which has a couple of nice restaurants. I ate out almost every night. The hotel staff know that Dr De Reys brings his patients there so they're very helpful and used to guys turning up for an operation. They offered me breakfast in bed on the day after the operation if I wanted it - I didn't in the end and just ate in the dining room. There weren't many other guests so it wasn't an issue. My family went off to Antwerp to do some exploring while I was in the operating room. Q4. What was Dr De Reys like? A3. He's a straight-up guy who has seen it all before and can answer pretty much any question you fling at him. He can also prescribe medication if you need it. It's a family business and his wife cooks meals for the patients and you might see some of the doctor's family around. It's not a super-space station clinic with loads of staff but the main man knows his stuff and you know you're in safe hands. Like I said, he actually extracts every single hair himself. By keeping it in the family, he can afford to keep his costs down which helps my pocket too So that's it for now. I've got quite a few more questions by PM so I'm going to get them together and start adding to the thread. In fact, I've been thinking about turning this post into a blog or a website. Any ideas on that, you guys?
  22. @yiddo, You're not allowed to post links on the forum but if anyone wants to know then just drop me a private message and I'll answer if I'm around. The price is on his website.
  23. Sorry for not posting the 1 month update, I've been snowed under with work but I'll post them soon. Everything is looking great, right now! Went to the hairdresser and all he said was, my you've let your hair grow longer than you usually do before you come to see me
  24. @ KO, I've had a few people ask me about the sides and back of my head and so I dug up some photos from the day after each operation to see if I had any of the donor area. I hope you can see the sides properly with these photos. You should be able to click on the photo to make it bigger. Anyway, this is what I had. Operation 1. I have two reasonable photos of the donor area after the first operation. If you look closely, especially on the one taken from the left side, you can still see small points of blood which formed on top of the tiny holes made during the extraction. I'm afraid I didn't think about snapping the donor area at the time so these are the only two donor area photos that I've got for the first op. Operation 2 I've got more photos of the donor area for the second op though. Here you can see the points much more clearly. A week later, the points are already disappearing but still visible. So there you have it. I have to say that I think the darker skin tone helps to hide the points. At ten days they were completely invisible. Right, I hope this helps and next week I'll post the one month photos (after operation 2)!
