  1. to retain your existing hair - minoxidil and finasteride can help. whether you want to get on those drugs should be a decision you need to make after putting in some thoughts. some of the things below might provide you some ideas to start thinking along on those lines. your normal balding will progress regardless of your HT. so you are right that after several years your transplanted hair will remain, but native hair will fall out in balding area. all people bald differently - some get to the most advanced balding and some dont get anywhere that far. while you cannot always predict that, you can "guess" by looking at your dad / uncle(s) / grandfather on your dad's side and see how far they got to. you are likely to go through that (but not necessarily). now you put that into consideration and then think about what your goals are? have a full head of hair all your life and / or what will you be happy to commit to in this regard - time / effort / money etc some people will have 3-4-5 and many more procedures, while some may only go for one.
  2. dugman, i am glad Dr Madhu will try to help you. it looks like you will have to travel (fly) to his clinic, which i think you need to make clear to him. and I would suggest you negotiate with him to reimburse your travel and accommodation costs. clearly you did not plan for this second trip and "have to" travel to fix the first HT. all the best and good luck.
  3. good work by Dr Knudsen. your scar is barely visible even with the hair raised.
  4. DNC-N, i havent heard of. but will be keen to see what thats like. i might however wait and see if people give it good feedback considering spectral dnc products havent worked much on my hair with the exception of old yellow formula.
  5. looking good so far, how is your donor at this stage?
  6. i am just wondering if there is a comprehensive list of instructions for pre and post HT surgery DOs and DONTs? things like - stop using aspirin, minoxidil x days before procedure start using minoxidil and propecia after so many days after HT i have read some conflicting information so want to clarify please.
  7. hi hariri, hope spectral dnc works well for you. let us know in a few months what you think. i used spectral dnc about 3 years ago or so (cant remember exactly when) but it was just around the time they changed their formula from yellow colour to clear. i used it for a total of 9 months roughly --- 6 old formula + 3 new formula. i used it for about 6 months before the formula was changed and had really great results, much better than minoxidil and it was a noticeable pleasant improvement. however, the changed formula (they claim they did not change the formula but only the colour, i dont know how thats possible) did not work for me. i had ordered 3 months supply of this new formula and not only did it not help me, but rather my hair went back to pre-spectral dnc stage. then i stopped buying anymore spectral dnc. i then gave spectral dnc-l a try. its creamy, smells nice but strong smell. you definitely cannot use it in daytime. your head will shine like creamy and strong smell too (like some nice flower).. i used spectral dnc-l for 6 months, but also no improvement or results considering its got a lot more stuff in it. also lot more expensive too. now i simply use minoxidil. it doesnt do any growth for me anymore but i feel its slowing down my hair loss.
  8. i am not sure if rogaine or propecia can be used by women. wait for someone who knows about it, to comment on that. in the meanwhile i would suggest including more and more of fresh fruits and veges in your diet. and most importantly hope you can be relieved of any concerns or stress.
  9. hairupthere, thanks a lot for sharing your expert advice
  10. Hi guys, I am wondering what is the best mode of treatment for a diffuse thinner? I have been on finasteride for 2 years and minoxidil for nealry 5. i have good coverage of hair on all of my thinning area but clearly it is very thin and hair loss is very clearly visible and obvious. my question is - are there many guys who are diffuse thinning and undergo HT? is this recommended approach? what would then be the best approach - cover entire area in one session since only need fewer hairs in the entire area? or approach in multiple session, front first dense packed and then crown? what i am more concerned about is shockloss of thiining hair and if that will fall due to HT? how does shock loss in recipient area take place? does it happen due to implanted hair cutting in through existing hair's blood supply or implanted hair cutting the existing hair completely? looking forward to some advice. thanks
  11. correct, there are many aussies who have gone overseas for a HT. if you arent keen to travel, i would say book a consultation with Dr Knudsen for a start and see how it goes. as i said before, i have read some really good things about him in multiple places.what i am trying to say here is that he seems honest and not one of those surgeons who runs HT factory or will push you into a HT. also his website says he has done more than 4000 HT procedures thus far. he has some good experience
  12. thanks for clarifying Dr Lindsey, i understand your explanation and appreciate your response
  13. i doubt there have been many studies done over that long period to give a definite answer. anything said otherwise by anyone would be a best guess then. if there has been a long enough study / research on this i would be keen to know as well. i will be following this to check on any updates
  14. 3000 FUE punches to get 2600 grafts? is that right? 400 grafts sounds like a big number to lose??
  15. does the watery kirkland foam version dry out as fast as well as rogaine foam? i am thinking of trying kirkland foam for being much cheaper, but if it does not dry fast then maybe i wouldnt
  16. great results. congrats, you chose a great doctor
  17. i have read some really good things about Dr Knudsen and above all high level of integrity and ethical approach. I would agree on the point of smaller FUT session. He may very well do an amazing larger session, but I am not aware
  18. It certainly should NOT be considered a fertility drug. That would be misguiding people who are researching and trying to make an informed decision. Every individual will respond differently, each person is different - personal experience shared on this forum can help people by putting them through a thought chain. There are few people out there who have experienced serious side effects from this drug and it could be a small percentage, but regardless it's not funny. NAVIN, all the best and good luck with your research and remember, research should not be limited to one forum or website or location. make sure that you make an informed decision.
  19. gladiator, i would say the answer is - its not proven. there will be people who claim it too be true and those who say its not. but neither have been proven.
  20. deepak21, where did you hear about Dr Vivek Nigam? I dont know much about him, so I cannot advise or give any opinion. have you had any feedback or any specific reason you shortlisted him? I would be keen to know. In the meanwhile, all the best and hope you get some feedback about the doctor.
  21. have a look at member gabrieljose43 on this forum. he had HT with Dr Sohi and looks good too
  22. I dont see why you shouldnt be able to use it. but if hair loss is extensive there may not be much visible results i feel
  23. Its interesting though that most of meds to fight hair loss work best in the crown area. again, i havent read anything which proves why that is the case. it would be great if someone can shed some light on this. its likely that is one of the many things that just works in a particular way but we dont know why and how.
