  1. Interesting subject, I will not massage my scar even gently unless instructed to do so by my surgeon. However, my daughter had a mole removed from between her eyes about 4 years ago by a plastic surgeon. When he took the sutures out, he stated to gently massage it everyday as it would promote healing and leave less of a scar??? I wonder
  2. Of pre op and post op pictures for affair assessment? Certain backgrounds? Flash or no flash? Hair styled or wet? Just wondering !
  3. Mattj I will gladly fly back to Ottawa in 6 months to a year for a HD video. That trip I can treat as a vacation!
  4. Takingtheplunge My main goal with the crown is to soften my existing minigrafts. Which I think should be pretty easy because I don't think they are terrible. Then obviously I'd like to pack as much in the rest of my scalp as possible!
  5. I finally got my website up and running!! This is what I look like before 4000plus grafts with Dr Rahal in January of next year...Tell me what you guys think! I think we are thinking anywhere from 1000-1500 grafts to soften then crown and then 2500 for the rest of the front of the scalp. If we can get 5000, then we are..tell me what ytou guys think!

  9. I am having trouble uploading photos to my new blog...I need step by step instructions on going back and editing to add photos..I was adding them and then it just went blank? I guess Im stupid!
  10. I started losing my hair at 19...i paniked and had a hair transplant with minigrafts..500 approx, to make a long story short I am 37 now and I have a transplant scheduled with Dr Rahal on January 19, 2012...I am looking to get 4000 plus grafts to soften my existing grafts and add some density...I feel I have chosen the best surgeon available and I am so excited, not to sound to gay, but I am! I hope one year from now things will be a lot different. My wife is supportive and she is behind me, which helps a lot.. any way, I am gonna add some photos from January,2011. I will post pre op pictures and many post pictures throughout the whole process.. also, I just recently, 6 months ago, got back on finasteride and rogaine..I hope I will see some added benefit from that before my surgery!!
  11. It's been a long process. Now I'm just gonna enjoy the next 6 months waiting!! Then the surgery and another 6 months of waiting. It'll be fun waiting though
  12. After 6 months of online and in person consults, I have decided to go with Dr Rahal! It's still a ways away in Jan 19,2012, but I want all my vacation and I'm driving up from the south. I know there are a lot of excellent surgeons on here, as I've spoken with many of them, but in the end it's hard to argue with the results Dr Rahal puts out on a daily basis. I would love to hear from some Rahal patients and any who might have stayed at the Foxboro(I think that's right) while recovering from their surgery. I will be spending at least 5 nights in Canada, mainly because I want to get as much help during that crucial first week! Anyways, I'm excited. It's a long ways off, but maybe by July 19,2012( 6 months after surgery) I'll have a good summer hair cut!
  13. Also, maybe make the app user friendly for real time updates during surgery. I just think this would be a cool deal. I'm always on the HTN on my smart phone, but I have to go through safari. A app would be great!
  14. How about a smart phone app? Just make it a little easier to navigate with your smart phone..also, I know a lot of people do thier updates with Iphone picture, just may make it a little easier... What do you guys thinks?
  15. Give fin a try first. I think medically speaking Dutasterude HAS to be better, however you may not need it!
  16. Where do you get minoxidil at higher strength than in rogaine? Also, has anyone had success with it?
  17. I had surgery at 19. I don't regret the surgery, however I do regret the fact that the surgeon I chose did not properly inform me on current and or future hair loss. That was 1993. I am now 37 years old and I will be having surgery with Dr Gabel in February. Trust me when I say this!!! " I thank GOD that I have enough donor hair and that my hair loss is relatively slow for it starting so young!! " if I were you, and I was you, I would wait till I'm at least 30!! Get on meds and stay on meds... I'm excited about my surgery and I know you will be too. It's hard being as young as you are, but your not alone and going bald at 18 DOES NOT mean you are doomed to be a Norwood 5,6, or 7. But I think you do need to wait a bit. That's my two cents!
  18. Matt What constitutes a shed then? Is it seeing a ton of hair come out? Like hair that's clogging drains?
  19. I've been taking the big 3 for 5 months now, rogaine, finasteride, and nizoral. Up until the last week I've never noticed the so called shed. I really don't know what even classifies a shed? But what I have noticed the last week is that when I apply the rogaine foam I'm noticing some hairs in my hand after I rub it in. Is this considered shedding? And after 5 months is this normal? It's not a lot, but it is definitely some hairs on my fingers when I'm done applying the rogaine foam.
  20. Heres what I would do if I were you. I would drive to one of the recommend doctors on this site that works in Florida. Your profile says that's where you live. I would establish a relationship with this doctor, have him or her take some photos, and I would imagine they would give you a prescription for proscar. Also, this will give you the added benefit of being able to go back in a year and take more pictures to see your progress.
  21. How long after surgery do I need to wait to know that I am in the clear for shock loss? Two weeks, three, ??? Just wondering?
  22. I'm going to Dr Gabel in February of next year for surgery, well I live a very long way from Portland Oregon. I know Dr Gabel uses internal sutures to take the tension off the outside closure. My question is, if I have staples for the outside closure, can my wife just take them out at 10 days post op, or whenever Dr Gabel says? I cant imagine it being that difficult?
  23. Dr Konior, your meticulous work is unbelievable. I'll bet this patient had a long day of surgery with you taking time to design that hairline. I'll bet he's extremely excited!
