  1. I very much agree! And not just celebrities but also us common folk as well. The more people talk about hair transplants, the faster the stigma will go away.
  2. So, you have gone to a few consultations already? How long have you been losing your hair? How long have you been using finasteride? The surgeons would seek to fortify the areas where native hair is present but still miniaturized. They would seek to give decent to good coverage (depending on the degree of loss, your age, and how much donor hair you have) but not too much in case you end up losing a lot more hair later on. I guess it is better to be conservative with transplants. If you have been on finasteride for at least two months then you might not be too susceptible to shock loss. Of course, if the hairs are transplanted into a totally bald area then you wouldn't need to worry about that. In any event, it really depends on what the doctors say when they look at your hair.
  3. Great pictures! Glad you are happy with the results.
  4. Maybe the people stop posting on this site? Maybe they see great results and then feel like they don't need to post? They could also just don't get around to it (I know I've fallen behind with posting pictures because I never have the camera available). How long have you been suffering from hair loss?
  5. Be careful about the strenuous activity! Wait a few weeks to be on the safe side. You don't want to mess up anything!
  6. The transplanted hair should match the surrounding hair (if done correctly) so hair dressers should not notice. What other cons are you thinking of?
  7. Are you unable to go to a doctor to get a prescription? That's the only way to be sure of what you're getting. I am unfamiliar with finitas-5 and am quite skeptical. Be careful!
  8. Indeed! This site has undoubtedly helped thousands of people.
  9. I actually went to Schwinning for my first consultation. Then I found that!
  10. Thanks for the help guys. I think I'm having a bad bit of luck since a little while after making this post I accidentally pulled some hair out! I was out during the storm and my hair froze and got stuck to my hat. When I went to take my hat off, ouch!
  11. I don't see why you couldn't bring finasteride and minoxidil with you (though I wonder how you got the former without a prescription). Can you go to your current doctor and have him write you a prescription? You can find a pharmacy that exists in both the U.S. and Canada and you can just transfer the prescription when you get there. If you are using finasteride for hair loss, I don't think insurance would cover it. It shouldn't matter though because generic finasteride is very inexpensive.
  12. I came across that while I was still deciding on whether to get a transplant. Scared me for a while!
  13. Hello everyone, I've had some really bad dandruff and itching for the last couple of months and there have been times where I was scratching so hard that hairs had come out. I just purchased some Nizoral shampoo, hoping that it will help. Does anyone know how many times a hair/group of hairs can get pulled out before it becomes traction alopecia?
  14. Have you been given pain medication? If you have run out you can ask your surgeon for more. Have you also consulted him/her about your pain?
  15. Sorry to hear this is happening to you. Shedding can occur with finasteride but if you are not having thinning that shouldn't happen. Perhaps it was a coincidence and you are actually beginning to lose your hair. You might want to contact Dr. Rassman at Balding Blog. I believe he's dealt with situations such as this.
  16. I was wondering about that. If a hair follicle is perfectly fine (and not just transplanted and still in the healing process either) what would it take to stop the follicle from growing hair? Not that I'm trying anything of course!
  17. Hey Joeyz400! Congrats on your first procedure. Sorry to hear about the pain. Did you get pills to take? Hang in there! I'm a fellow Dorin patient myself and I'm sure you will get a great result!
  18. I was contacted about four months after my procedure for a followup. Which doctor performed your surgery? It does seem odd that only the consultant would be available.
