What to do after hair transplant

What should one do after having surgery to help expedite hair growth and survival?

1. I saw a video of massaging the head to improve blood circulation.

2. what vitamins?

3. what about oral minox?

4. Laser cap?

Finally, my doctor wants me to take oral Dutasteride. Should I take a month or two before or once I have surgery?

Age: 40

Hairloss began at age 23.

Oral Finasteride 1mg daily since 2006, Topical Minoxidil since 2012. Hair transplant 3,400 grafts 2019. Second hair transplant 2,400 grafts in 2023.

Melvin's video is required viewing (his magnesium recommendation is great), and here are some additional items just for fun :)

  • Healthy sleep (unobstructed airway--check for snoring)
  • Oxygen levels: light cardio, alkaline diet (overall cellular health)
  • Don't impede blood flow by drinking alcohol or consuming nicotine-related products
  • Drink more water buddeh!
  • Avoiding UV radiation from the sun
  • A, C, E, D3 (D3 is best absorbed with K2-mk4 or K2-mk7)
  • Zinc
  • Biotin
  • Strong dosing of Fish oil (megadose EPA, regular dose DHA) - look for Triglyceride forms
  • Selenium
  • Magnesium (chelated "bioavailable" versions)
  • Stress-free lifestyle

So basically: a multi-vitamin (an expensive one typically is best); fish oil, healthy diet; moving around during the day; and sleeping well at night.

Vitamin A is actually not good for hair and causes hairloss so definitely don’t take it as a daily supplement.

@FinallyHT,

The best thing you can do to cultivate and expedite the growth of your hair transplant is to follow your surgeons postoperative instructions.  No miracle lotion or potion will help your hair grow faster and fuller and no hat nor cap will make your hair thicker.

Non-surgical solutions such as minoxidil, finasteride and laser therapy may help you to keep the existing hairy you have by slowing down, stopping at university effects of male pattern baldness.

You  said that your doctor suggests that you take dutasteride. Have you first tried finasteride and it didn’t work for you? I ask because most individuals try finasteride and only if it is not effective are they typically suggested to try dutasteride.  This is because dutasteride is a more potent medication that blocks both type I and type II 5-alpha reductase as opposed to finasteride which only blocks the first type.  There is also more potential for side effects while using dutasteride than finasteride.

I hope this helps

I saw a video that Dr.Bisanga recommends massages the head. Does someone have this video?
