Hi all,

Thought I’d share my experience of having 3507 grafts done via FUE method at a clinic not much spoken about around these forums.

Obviously I’m still waiting for the results, but so far I’m very happy with the experience from their constant communication through WhatsApp, easy booking process, brutal honesty about my situation and their own capabilities, and the doctor’s knowledge and passion for her field.

The process all began at 7am yesterday morning and finished around 4.30pm. I was changed into a robe and slippers, had to my hair washed, original photos were then taken from all different angles. After this I finally met Dr. Patty who was a delight and spoke good English. She assessed my hair and recommended that I do not lower the hairline any further as through the rule of thirds the distance between my eyebrows and bottom of hairline was already shorter than the distances between eyebrows and bottom of nose and bottom of nose and chin so she thought it would look strange. This also meant we had more grafts to increase density on my all-around diffused thinning and reinforce the current thinning hairline I already had. She then drew on the hairline and had assistants double check that it looked alright. More photos were then taken and it was time for surgery to begin.

In the surgery room, there was Dr. Patty and several other assistants. They were all pretty quiet and respectful throughout the whole process. The surgery ended up taking longer than expected as there were some issues with laying face down for the extracting. It was so painful that they had to move me to my side for parts of it, which apparently made the graft extracting process longer. The implantation stage also took longer than expected at around 3.5 hours as apparently I had tough skin in my head and grafts kept popping out. In the end, the dedicated team kept working, apologising for how long it was taking, and got the job done. I also liked how they kept giving me more anaesthesia (and massaging my feet while injecting it) to keep me as comfortable as possible. The chicken stir fry was a nice lunch too!

I have a follow up appointment today for a hair wash, LLT and bandage removal which I’m looking forward to.

I’ll add some photos and you can judge the work for yourself.

A few questions:

Does it look like clean work?

Does 3507 grafts seem about right?

Could I have gone any lower with the hairline for maximal aesthetic appearance?

I’ll add a photo of the donor area when I have the bandage removed later.

Yeh it looks clean and yeh 3.5k grafts would be required considering ur coverage...this hairline suits you in my opinion ...and its good to be on a conservative side as it is ur 1st surgery and by conservative approach u can fill the remaining scalp with the grafts saved by nt lowering hairline too much and even if ur hair loss is progressive you would have saved enough grafts for the 2nd surgery

And aftr 2 years if thr is no progress in ur hair loss thn u cn go for a 2nd procedure to lower your hairline if u feel the need for that.. Can we see ur pre op pics if u dnt mind? 😊

Will do. Fingers crossed I do get the results I’m after.

Any other opinions? seems to be crickets around here when it comes to anyone not on the forum list lol.

Are you on medication ? If not thn u can consider oral minoxidil and finasteride after consulting ur doctor as tht wud help u immensely with the growth and preserving ur grafts...

Are u an Australian ? Thn get ready for a cricket match between aus vs ind ..

You mean it looks like there’s more thin areas in the middle that need to be transplanted into?

Keep in mind we only had 3500 grafts to work with in the session so had to distribute these in the most important areas first. A second surgery is a possibility down the line but I’m hoping with my curly hair, growing it longer will still give the illusion of solid density as it is.

6 Month Update. I’ve taken a few photos in different lighting. I was a pretty early grower, but hopefully more growth to come, especially around the mid/crown as I feel like it’s still lacking a bit. Thoughts?

Any views on how it’s going guys?

Looks right on track.

Mid and crown grow slower compare to front.

Still half way to go, plenty of growth and maturity on your way

Thanks. I do hope the mid and crown grows in more to prevent a second transplant.

Thanks Gatsby! That’s reassuring to hear.

I was under the impression that majority of results would be known by 6 months with only small improvements in maturity and density of current hairs. Do more transplanted hairs actually start coming through after this point?

Work looks clean man. Can you please elaborate on the cost part?  cost per graft? hotels? food? any other expenses?

It cost 127,000 Thai baht. I can’t remember the exact cost per graft but it was very cheap for a doctor who only does one surgery a day and is very hand on. The clinic is fairly new so I’m sure prices will rise pretty quickly once they get their reputation going. I stayed around the corner in a cheap hotel in Bangkok for around $30 AUD/night.

Looks night and day from where you started dude! Thats a lot of space to cover w/ only 3500 grafts, so you will prob need a 2nd procedure to get the illusion you're looking for.

Congrats!

Yeah I didn’t realise how much area I had to cover until I saw the photos from above my head. Before that I actually thought my balding was minimum and had just begun. How wrong I was!

I’m hoping to avoid a second surgery with the growth that’s still to come plus hair fibres. It’s looking alright from the front and sides, just a bit thin/fluffy still.

Please update without toppik. Your results look great on their own btw, but toppik enhanced pics obscure the work we would like to see :)

Ditto, let's see without Toppik, please. I will never be able to use toppik due to my hair color being red which is impossible to match imo, so I can't personally identify the use of it. However, your results look amazing thus far, and I am super excited for you. Clean work and looking like a clean outcome.
