Senior Member NARMAK Posted September 27, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted September 27, 2022 I know this probably isn't a like for like example but if you look at the 10 year Finasteride study of thickening hairs and in many parts, regrowth of those patients, the changes were slow but after you analyse the pictures, it was dramatic looking from the base to 10 year. Luckily hair from the donor area probably is matured by 12-18 months in terms of thickening so you don't have to wait as long, but the fact medication can help individuals have that long term benefit is why i think we all sometimes when we talk about hair transplants especially when taking medication need to re-evaluate timescales. I wouldn't be surprised if in the past, hair transplant timescales were probably much more aligned to 18 months but it's only since the modern social media Internet age people have started pushing 12 months as a complete make or break alongside the advances in FUE etc. Follow my first Hair Transplant Journey! Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted September 28, 2022 Administrators Share Posted September 28, 2022 It starts to grow around the 3rd to 4th month, but you will notice a difference by 6 months. You're usually around 50% at 6 months. I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic. My comments are not medical advice. Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted September 28, 2022 Valued Contributor Share Posted September 28, 2022 I'm at six months post op and I can still see hairs coming through that are about 1cm long. The hair in general is still thickening up. It's a 12 month process for so many reasons. All the best. Rahal Hair Transplant
Adier, Well first, the transplanted hair has to shed which typically occurs between 4 to 6 weeks after the date of the procedure. Then, new hair typically begins to grow between three and five months. Hair typically grows in thin, fine and colorless. Over the next 9 to 15 months, the hairs will thicken, darken and mature. Since every hair grows in at different rates, it’s difficult to tell you exactly when all of your hair will thicken. It all happens at different times. But 6 to 8 months is a good average.
