6 & ½ Months in. A Brief Timeline

Not gonna lie for 6 month and a half it's not good, if you told me last picture was 4 months after the HT I would have believed you

But we see improvement between the 2 last pics and maybe african american hair grows slower (don't know about this one)

I also saw cases where the 6 month result was nowhere near the end result, so you should keep faith if you picked a good surgeon

Afro hair does grow slightly slower and because of the tight curl it may look like a slower growth but I'm more worried about the gaps and varying density to be honest.

have you showed these images to the Dr at the clinic? this doesn’t look great at all for 6 and a half months man 😞

I've contacted them and they said it should thicken over the coming months but can come into clinic for a review which I have booked for next week.

Typical Turkish hairmill result, grafts clearly spaced far apart and non growers due to damage

which clinic was it?

The good thing I suppose is you have curly hairs and can get some density with fibers/comb over

Excel96,

Peopoe grow at different rates so it’s possible that you are just a slow grower. At the end of the day, it’s still early so I wouldn’t be too concerned about growth at this point. In my opinion, give it another 6 to 12 months before evaluating the result and then go from there. If you have concerns at that point then I recommend discussing them with your surgeon.

I hope this helps.

I would expect more growth at 6 months, but it is still too early to judge. It takes 12 months for a reason. There’s a significant chance things improve a lot in the next 6 months. Stay patient.

Okay, thank you for the reassurance

It's still a bit early, so don't panic just yet! It definitely doesn't look like a botched procedure, and there is improvement between 5 1/2 and 6 1/2 months - so that's a good sign.

The area doesn't looked very densely packed, but hopefully once the hair grows in, your hair type will add to the illusion of density and make it look thicker than it would otherwise. The way your donor area looks at the longer length is very reassuring in that regard, so just stay patient and let's hope for the best! :)

Wow I thought you were going to say asliturcan lol. Well hope for the best. Afro hair I hear is hard to extract.

When you go for the second procedure choose docs that specialist in Afro hair and won’t damage your grafts.

It's understandable that you're concerned given how things are looking at this point.  Nothing that you, anyone on this site, or even the clinic says or thinks is going to make the slightest bit of difference.  You're best off trying to put it in the back of your mind for 2-3 months until it's pretty clear how things will turn out.

That's a fair point, might have to put the mirrors away in the house.

Doc in question does specialise in afro hair but I guess with the curl pattern you never know how it's gonna curl for sure once implanted

You could just be a really slow grower, it's not unheard of. Ignore people jumping on the "damaged grafts" train, they are speculating 100%, also you have a change in density between month 5/6 so it indicates things are still on their way

I hope so, I'm meeting with the clinic Saturday, will confirm whether it's looking okay and will discuss the option of booking a 2nd transplant for more density

It's coming along nicely.

I'm at 4 months now and feeling a little nervous about my lack of growth, but at least there is SOMETHING HAPPENING.

Be patient and trust in the process. That's what I'm telling myself too 😅

At 4 months, you've only had a month's worth of potential growth, so "something happening" is actually pretty good! Stay patient. :)
