Eyebrow transplant

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am a female who is interested in learning more about eyebrow transplants. I have been having a hard time finding individuals who have done this and would appreciate if anyone would be willing to share their experience with this.

Also, does anyone have any recommended surgeons for this speciality?

I live in UK but happy to travel anywhere in Europe.

I have had a look at the patient reviews as well but there aren't too many reviees for eyebrow transplant.

Thanks.

If you do it with a good surgeon, the results will be satisfactory.

I'm sure others will give you good suggestions as to clinics, but any of the topic HT clinics that offer eyebrow work will probably be a fine choice.  One thing to consider is that you will need to trim your eyebrows for the rest of your life, as the hair that is transplanted will grow faster, and longer than your natural eyebrow hair.  So expect to be treating it just as you'd treat your scalp hair.  That probably means cutting it with scissors every 2-3 weeks (I'm making this number up, no idea how long between trims you'd have to go).

Check out my journey here:

It's an extremely specialised area. Now on average, women have thicker hair so that can be an obstacle and second is that you more than likely are taking scalp hair which will even if they get the slowest and thinnest hair, you will need to likely trim down and maintain much more regularly.

I hope you don't mind, but would you post some pictures even if it's cropped of just the eyebrows to show what you're trying to achieve.

There could be the possibility of alternative treatments that may benefit you rather than going for a hair transplant.

You have to make sure you go to someone who has experience doing eyebrows because the grafts have to be placed at specific, extreme angles for it to look right. It's not easy to get it right.

It would be a pain to trim every 2 to 3 weeks which for me works against having the eyebrow transplant. Does the growth then slow down after a certain number of years or will i have to keep on trimming?

Yes, are there any recommendations for someone who has experience doing eyebrows?

Eyebrow transplants aren't something we see frequently on here, but I'm sure you can do an "eyebrow" search in the forum and see if any reputable European surgeons have posted results.

I'm also adding a short video of Dr. Mohebi giving some insight about eyebrow transplants. The video is 7 years old at this point, but it provides some quick tips about what a successful eyebrow transplant entails - and the specific challenges that come with it that make it imperative to choose a surgeon who has experience doing it. It could also give you a starting point as to some questions to bring up with any surgeons you have a consultation with.

I'm also posting a link to a recent thread of one of Dr. Mohebi's eyebrow transplant patients so you can get an idea of what a successful result looks like. Hope that helps!

I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My views/opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.

Check out my hair loss website for photos

If you need an eyebrow transplant, you firstly need to understand that the hair is never going to be a perfect match to the original hair that's there which like for example with myself or most people grows to a certain length and then never really beyond.

The most reliable hair to transplant elsewhere is from the scalp, so even if as the person above you had mentioned you take the absolutely thinnest and slowest growing hair, it's still from the scalp. They grow longer than any eyebrow hair.

So that's the first and probably moat important difference you have to accept and that means that you will have to use a scissor or similar to groom their length to a much more "normal" eyebrow length you decide on.

The 2nd expectation to be realistic on is how extreme the angles need to be for eyebrows may not be as perfectly recreated because no hair transplant can match nature. It's an imitation and as flattering as that may be, it's not perfect.

I would strongly urge yourself to research the eyebrow transplant in depth AND i would urge you to start looking at alternate options.

Some people have been able to use Minoxodil applied very locally to the area of the eyebrows alongside some Microneedling with derma roller/derma pen to grow hairs into the areas. This is possibly another route to explore with research.

Then there's also other options i think women tend to use and individuals affected by alopecia to look as if they have eyebrows such as a semi permanent tattoo etc.

Rahul who has a similar history to me with failed precious hair transplants and being repaired with beard hair by Eugenix had an eyebrow transplant earlier this year. The one thing to remember it that you will have to trim the eyebrows as the new hair will continue to grow.

@Melvin- Moderator - any insight on this subject? My gf is interested. I’d imagine there is a huge opportunity here for the space in general. Basically every millennial girl I know massacred their eyebrows in high school by plucking them to death as that was the style then, and now they all wish they had the thickness back. Are there too dr’s in this space?

Im on the hunt for a decently priced eyebrow transplant surgeon myself, I had a brief exchange with some California doctors who want $8-$14k which is just stupid. Would be great to find someone reasonable
