Hello,

I’ve just finished day 1 of what will be a three day hair transplant at HLC Ankara.   I’m from Georgia in the US so this was quite a leap of faith for me hopefully get my hair back after many years of progressive hair loss.  Im 42 years old now and started to note some recession at temple in early 20s.  Things were pretty mild until my mid 30s when the hair loss really accelerated.  I’ll post of pics of before and then also from day 1. I’ll wait to share my review of the clinic until the process is finished, but so far I’ve been very happy.

For what it’s worth, my head is apparently very large, which means it takes a lot of grafts to cover, but also have a large donor area with approximately 10k available.  Also learning donor area is mostly multiple hair follicles (see photo).

More to come…

Whoa that's some serious density!

Have you considered taking tadalafil (cialis) for a few months? Even microdosing, the improved blood flow would be a good idea. At minimum, ask the doctors about it.

Hi, I've done much research on this clinic. They seem to be great at hairlines which is what I want to be done first; a friend of mine had his last year there and had a great result; I Was curious who performed your surgery; I researched the doctors and found out that one of them Dr. Elif I think was previously a heart surgeon and worked for the Turkish health ministry as a consultant which is impressive credentials.

Cengiz has been primary doctor doing work so far.  He is also allowing a younger doctor to work as well, under his supervision….wasn’t able to catch the name.

I have two days to go so we’ll see if others become involved as well.

I haven’t considered Cialis, but will look into it.  Started finasteride a week before surgery.  Kicking myself for not starting years ago, but what’s done is done I suppose!

BTW, I checked out your thread on your HLC experience.  I hope to get the results you achieved.  I see many similarities in our cases.

The big difference between cialis and viagra is the half life. Cialis is 36 hours and viagra is like 4 hours, I think. So taking cialis (a vasodilator) once a day may improve the blood flow in your scalp. With the density they are implanting, you want to improve your graft survival. Blood flow will be tricky.

Here's an interesting case of high-density where he took viagra and cialis.

Yes, I think there are similarities in our cases. There is a small possibility that I go for a third transplant to close my temples a little more, maybe. If so, I'll go back to HLC. Good luck!

Update on 2nd day.  Went through two rounds of extractions and implants.  Total of 2100+ grafts completed today…almost 4000 total.  About 1200 more to go tomorrow!

Thought I’d update with some photos of the completed surgery and now 8 days later.  Not sure anyone is following the thread, but will continue to update anyway.

Sorry for the lack of updates.  The pictures below were in the 5-6 month range.  I am EXTREMELY happy with the results….life changing!  Ask questions if you have them.  Would be happy to answer!

Those multi grafts really coming through.

how does it feel compared to native hairs thus far?

I have much more density than I was expecting!  Maybe the multi-grafts get the credit, or perhaps I just had low expectations.  Either way, super happy!

I’m glad you mentioned the native hair comparison.  My hair had ALWAYS been straight as a board.  Many of the transplanted hairs are now pretty wavy, even at the nine month mark.  Wondering if this will remain?  If so, I’d be happy as it styles much nicer and gives a more textured full appearance.

Wow . Can you tell us your age? Medication status?

can you post a pic of your donor area? How long was the average day ?

I’m 42 years old.  I’m taking finasteride daily and have been since about a month before the transplant.  My crown seems to have recovered a bit of lost hair and seems full enough for my satisfaction.  I’ll stay on finasteride long term as I don’t have any side effects.

I’ll try to get a picture of my donor area in a few days.  Traveling for work now, in a hotel, and tough to get good pics.  I will tell you that it remains thick with no evidence of surgery even with a #2 guard.  I’m amazed actually.  They say I should have 5000 grafts left even after over 5000 used in first surgery.  Based on the condition of my donor, I can believe it!

My surgery was three days.  The first two days were full as I recall and were 9-10 hrs in length.  This was split into multiple sessions as they like to minimize time between extraction and implant.

Attached are some pics so you can see a little of the waviness.  It’s the end of day and hair is a mess, but hopefully you can see.  It’s very wavy when wet after morning shower.
