2,921 grafts done by Dr Gür in Istanbul, Turkey

Here’s an update on my first HT.  Just got home from Turkey, I used FUECAPILAR to book my surgery with Dr Gür.  Managed to get a round trip ticket for $660 and opened a United card for a $250 statement credit so the flight ended up only costing $410.

Overall the experience was way better than expected.  I went with the package where Gür does the extractions and openings himself so it was €1.25/graft.  The clinic and accommodations were great, shout out to Jose at FUECAP for the quick responses and very detailed instructions and details.

Personally the surgery seemed long (about 8 hours total) and anesthesia wore off a few times but they gave me more as soon as I said something.  I had a total of 2,921 grafts implanted which was on the high end of what they quoted (2,500-2,800).  I think he said they split some doubles to make more singles for the hairline.

I was worried about my donor area but he said it was average and I had a total of 6k grafts available.  I’m having some swelling three days post op but apparently that’s normal and varies from person to person.  I’ll keep updating my progress.

Couldn’t have done this without this site and all of you guys!

Thanks for sharing your review, Dr. Gür is part of FUEcapilar right? I’ve heard good things. I’ll be following your results closely.

Personally I believe this is the best "budget" clinic in all of Turkey. Their results are consistent and Dr. Gur & Dr. Turan perform the procedures with techs.

Yes he is part of FUEcapilar.  Apparently they just inked a deal this week so that FUECapilar will be booking and handling all of Gür procedures.  They do an amazing job of communication and answering questions.  I will keep you all updated on how it’s going.

7 day update:

Scabs are almost entirely gone after my wash last night.  Think it’s looking really good, my only concern is my right temple doesn’t look as natural and as blended as my left side.  Looks like quite a few doubles and triples were used.

From what I've gathered, Dr. Gur is affiliated with FUECapilar and that they send him referral clients looking specifically for expertise in FUE procedures (Dr. Turan is a DHI expert) but all the work is done at Dr. Gur's own private clinic with his own staff.

Are u sure that Dr gur performs his surgeries in his own clinic? So he doesn't not belong to fuecapilar? But they have some kind of connection together ?

I think that will look good, up there it is much more important the first rows is single grafts, it is not so important for the whole part to be singles like in the lower temple region which is usally very fine singles and some finer doubles.

A problem would have occured if Dr Gur did like my Dr did on me and go into all your existing hair in the temple to make it stronger.

That's correct.  Dr. Gur has his own established private hair transplant clinic and also receives referrals from FUECapilar for clients looking for his expertise with FUE procedures.

So it’ll be exactly two months since the procedure tomorrow.  Not a whole lot going on.  Seeing new sprouts every couple days or so.  Lots of ingrown hairs which I take as a good sign.  Just playing the waiting game.  Thinking about trimming up my hair so I’ll post some pictures of the donor area once I do that.  Recipient area is still numb.
