Hi mate. I’m having my first HT this Saturday, so haven’t yet had one, but I’ve openly told people that I am having one and the reaction is overwhelmingly positive. Realistically the only people that will know you’ve had one are the people that you tell, and friends and family aren’t going to judge.
Moderators Al - Moderator Posted December 3, 2021 Moderators Share Posted December 3, 2021 Do people judge you for getting a hair transplant? It's not anywhere near as bad as it was 20 or 30 years ago, but with most things, people are always judging and they like to feel like they are right. So if you tell people you are getting a hair transplant, assuming you have a lot of hair loss that easily makes you look like a bald guy, then most of them will tell you to go for it and it's a great idea. If it turns out well they will tell you how it's a good thing you listened to them about getting it done. If it turns out bad they will tell you that you are so stupid for trying that and you should have listened to them about not doing it. So do what you think is best for you and forget about what everyone else says. If you don't want to tell them anything then don't. It's your life. Senior Member mavigo Posted January 12, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted January 12, 2023 People can judge you for anything and everything. I stopped caring along time ago (except I do care a lot about my MPB, so I'm a hypocrite). I wouldn't tell anyone openly that I had a transplant. If they don't know, they'll just think it's natural hair. 1 FUE 2400 Grafts (2023) - Dr. Panine; Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic FUT 1400 Grafts (2019) - Dr. Steven Paul Holt; Holt Hair Restoration/Bella
Senior Member pkipling Posted January 13, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted January 13, 2023 Nope. The complete opposite, actually. Every single time it comes up in conversation, the response is always enthusiastic and inquisitive... Usually a combination of A) shocked that they had no idea, B) wanting to see photos and asking tons of questions, C) and usually bringing up how they or someone they know either also had a procedure or really wants to get one. I was so nervous when I first got my HT that people would find out, and it felt like a dark secret I was carrying around for a while... And I was so relieved to learn that all my fears were completely unfounded when I started telling friends about it and they were all soooo supportive. I'm sure there are always some judgmental people lurking around who might have a negative opinion or two, but I've yet to run into them in regards to this... And even if I did, I'm so happy/confident with my decision to do this that I can't imagine even caring for a second what anyone thought. If anything, I've become somewhat happy to talk about it when it comes up in conversation. I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA.
