Hi all, here's my HT (DHI) experience done by dr.Bruno Ferreira.

We had online consultation 5 months before surgery where he estimated 2500grafts (hairline, temples+forelock) from pics i sent him, i said i only want ~1500grafts for hairline and to fill previous HT in temples (~400-700grafts done by other doctor over 10years ago) and later when my hairline grows that i'll decide on second surgery as it will be easier to recover and blend in as hairline will be there....so he agreed!

My before:

Surgery day: i came to the clinic at 7:30am where lovely nurse welcomed me and excorted me to my private room where i dressed in patient outfit and waited for dr.Bruno. When he came in we talked a bit about procedure and other stuff making me familiar with every detail.

Than we moved to the other room to take pictures of my balding head and draw a hairline. There i described him hairline i want but gave him free hands as he is proffesional....seems i was somewhat on point with hairline as it was similar to what i expected.

Then nurse shaved my head and doctor examimed and marked donor/extraction area.....then we took pics again.

Than we moved to surgery room where he examined and measured my donor area with some magnifying camera....we've seen a lot of triples there and he said my hair is very thick and it should give me nice results/better coverage.

There were 4 lovely nurses there asking me all the time do i need anything and taking care of me better than my mother....loved those girls, they made whole process much much easier for me.

Than surgery started: they measured my blood pressure and gave me Valium (Valium is nice), local anestetic was painless, doctor has some tricks. First extraction was around 900 grafts if i remember right....when they send me my pics and file i'll share it here in details. He extracted singles for the hairline than later there were majority of dpubles and triples with also 4's and 5's.

First he made a fine hairline than moved to fill the rest. When he implanted all those first round grafts he revisited all of them and adjusted few....quite a perfectionist! I managed to follow everything as that surgical lamp over me somewhat reflected tiny parts acting as a mirror.

Than we had a lunch break, lunch was very delicious (they order it by your wish).

At lunch break i took a few pics

Than we moved to do the rest, around 700grafts more, totaling 1662 grafts....as said earlier majority of grafts were doubles and triples while singles used for hairline. I think there were also around 25-50 5's and ~50-70 4's.

After we finished i went to my room, where another light meal was waiting for me, doctor came in amd explained me in details post op procedure and medications usage and gave me bag of goodies (shampoo, aloe vera gel, pillow covers, travel pillow, saline solution, pills and some other goodies).

Then i went to my hotel room and rest for the day.

Great pics. How many grafts per square CM do you know? You mentioned in the other thread about wanting to wear a hat to the airport and what not. Did Bruno give you a specific hat in the goody bag or did you bring your own? How long after surgery is it safe to wear one?

Idk, i think he usually aims for 45-55 grafts per cm2...55 in hairline but it all depends on hair thickness, donor and skin type so it is individual.

I bring on my own baseball cap, i checked before coming to surgery that cap when wearimg won't touch recipient area.

That's why i took extra days in Porto, to heal donor area so i can wear a cap at the airport.....donor heals quickly but ypu need to be extra careful with recipient area.

In post op instructions  it says not to wear hat or scarf 3-5 days.....while helmets or anything else that would put pressure on recipient area avoid for at least 30 days.

My advice to anyone traveling for HT wpuld be to arrive a 2 days before, realx, get to known city and than surgery, after surgery you need to rest and to reduce stress so staying in a hotel/apartment for extra 5 days and exploring city is a really good decision.

In these 4 days post-op i do roam around a little exploring town (like a vampire, cos you need to avoid direct sunlight on recipient area), ordering food and resting  in my room watching movies, tv shows and reading book.

Looks very clean, Dr Bruno Ferreira is a real pro.

I dont get it how some people want to stay 5 days extra, oh my god. To each there own, everyone thinks differently. I just wanted to get home as fast as possible, did not really feel like going around outside in a foreign country by myself post op, also its a big difference to sleep in a hotel bed than your bed at home.

My ideal situation would be to arrive like 6 am, be at the clinic doing surgery at 9 am. Leave the day after the procedure when I had the first wash at the clinic at say 2 pm. Maybe I am a little bit extreme lol. I love to travel and explore the world but for this I think so differently.

Happy growing and all the best to you!

I wanted to go home the next day but there were no available flights when i was booking so i booked a 6 day vacation in Porto.....and i'm glad i did cos those first days post op i can imagine being a hassle to spend whole day at the airport and connecting flights.

But i'm quite used to travel and feel comfortable anywhere, i guess that's the person i am.

Also my donor healed quite quickly, and recipient area being also quite well as fast as next day i did roam around without problem....just avoiding recipient area being touched and exposed to sunlight.

Maybe it is in my case cos i transpanted small amount of grafts.....i can imagine going for 3000+ grafts being a much bigger hassle and recovery.

Same, I flew home international the day after my FUE. Unless you're really careless, it's pretty hard to bump your head on something. I didn't wear a hat, didn't really care that complete strangers who would never see me again might see my gnarly scalp. In reality nobody even took a second glance at me. I just wanted to get my ass home.

@Spaceguy Thanks for the thread, would love to see continued updates. I will likely be going to Ferreira to finish off my surgeries.

Will do don't worry, once my new hairline grows i'll probably do another smaller HT at dr.Bruno to fill the rest if needed

How long did it take for Ferreira to reply to your initial consultation?

The surgery looks to have gone cleanly 👍

Oh i don't remember....i think i didn't wait long after him reviewing my case, than we exchanged few more emails about details.....everything else was arranged by Alexandra (his employee), surgery date and such.

Anyway they were open to any question and replied rather quickly....maybe now he's over booked....he does whole surgery by himself (implatation and extraction) and one patient per day and every surgery over 1800-2000grafts is separated into two or more days as i manage to understand...originally my surgery needed to be 2500 grafts over 2 days but i wanted to do only hairline amd temples so it end up on single day surgery.

Also as i managed to catch by going next day for check up and donor area headwash, he doesn't do surgeries every day, some days are just for consultations.

Seems he's not running for money, rather for good reputation (knowing money will follow)!

Looks like he loaded up on multi's behind the hairline pretty nicely. Going to be a great result.

Yes :)

I hope so, he also said my hair from donor was very very thick, so coverage should be really nice....even i don't aim for 15 year old density....i'm fine with see trough (natural look if possible) and once they go grey since my hair is already 30% grey it'll be just right.....

My father is grey too and have frontal third not quite dense but since his hair is grey it looks pretty good.

Btw i'm 36 years old!

DAY 9

One thing i noticed, once crusts and scrabs are gone transplanted hair started to grow nicey (temporary growth i know)....seems scrabs are holding back for transplanted hair to grow, also scrabs and crusts once dried and become hard it inflict some minor pain and itching.

Anyway it's nice to see scrabs are gone and trasplanted hair is growimg even it's only temporary growth before shedding.20211113_181020.thumb.jpg.84f18695d5e6e72eea3f3d166814bf36.jpg

Looks great without the scabs! Wonder how red/raw it looks under natural indoor lighting?

I work in a face to face environment and was worried if my head would look really red for the first few months.

Redness is barely visible and only mere hairline if you look at it up close.

I guess it depends on skin type and tan....i am caucasian but my skin is never too pale...adriatic sea coast, plenty of sun here :)

I was among ppl yesterday and nobody noticed i had HT (haven't told anyone), they only commented why i shaved my head haha.

I hope it'll stay this way, without redness and i hope i won't shed too much, first HT of very small numbers over 10 years ago if i remeber right only 40-50% had shed off....so fingers crossed!

Anyway this pic above looks worse than in normal light and angle...at least i think so!

For me it wouldn't just be about the redness (though makeup could cover that). It would be more about having to show up to work with a completely shaved head for the first time ever, revealing my baldness underneath. I have used fibers for years.

It’s wouldn’t be completely shaved though but a buzz cut. People may comment the first few days and then they will get used to it.

I always had short haircut, recently used some fibers.....but it would be also weird to show up with shaved head so i planned this HT way before. I took 6 weeks off from work and do the HT on second day of my vacation so by the time i get back to work my hair should be as it was before HT

Looks great! Have you thought of trimming the sides and back to match the top? I think the buzz cut will suit you.

Pic anlge is weird and hair is "wet" so it looks wierd and unpropotional...but hair is almost of the same lenght on whole head...but it's still short...
