Ridl
I received a hair transplant 3 days ago and noticed that the new hairline appears quite uneven (higher on the left than the right). Is this normal? Am I being overly critical or is it cause for concern?

Ridl
With Dr Pak in LA. Is this amount of asymmetry usual? It shouldn’t be cause for concern with the final result?
Senior Member Britanium Posted February 12, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted February 12, 2021 (edited) I have to admit that it does seem more asymmetrical than we usually see. Definitely worth asking for a explanation from the clinic. Did it match what they drew on as the agreed new hairline ? Ridl
I’d say the left side (in the photo) is inline with the drawn hairline and right side looks a little lower/more aggressive than expected. Not sure what you mean by photos from the ht
Senior Member Britanium Posted February 12, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted February 12, 2021 Most clinics take pics when they draw your hairline and others throughout the day when you had your hair transplant. Be interesting to see these If they took them.
Senior Member Future Hair Doc Posted February 12, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted February 12, 2021 (edited) Sorry to say, but definitely asymmetric and easy to spot. Senior Member gillenator Posted February 12, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted February 12, 2021 Honestly, you really have to wait to see the final result because you may end up being pleasantly surprised. Any natural hair line is going to be somewhat asymmetrical, some more than others as the pic of Jake G shows. DrTBarghouthi
Asymmetry is not necessarily a bad thing. I think in your specific case, this is simply a swelling effect. The fluids injected in the scalp would not all get absorbed uniformly and it gives a more pronounced asymmetry. Dr. Pak is an experienced surgeon and i think you should give it sometime for everything to settle down. Dr. Taleb Barghouthi approved and recommended on the Hair Transplant Network. Senior Member pkipling Posted February 13, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted February 13, 2021 Echoing the others to reassure you not to get too far ahead of yourself in terms of worrying about the outcome. Yes, the asymmetry is noticeable, but not only could that be exacerbated from swelling, it also may not even end up looking bad at all. I would still ask the clinic for an explanation just to get their input. Who knows, the surgeon may have a perfectly logical explanation based on your specific case/procedure as to why it's looking like that. Senior Member ciaus Posted February 13, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted February 13, 2021 Can you post pictures that show your corner hairlines, something like in this diagram from the side, or diagonally facing from the overhead? Its important to compare where the sides of your hair come up and meet your hairline too. You may be losing more hair on one side of your head than the other. So maybe these are the most natural hairline closure angles he could do without transplanting hair down into your temple side areas too. Also agree with others about naturalness of asymmetry and your hairline looks fine to me just being limited to seeing it from your pics looking straight forward.
