Micro needling with 1.5mm

Recommended Posts

What are your guys thoughts on this process and how effective is this treatment using minoxidil and finasteride? I've seen good results on YouTube and other sites, but I figured I go ahead and have someone here with experience or knowledge tell me a little more.

I have been using a 1mm / 540 needles dermaroller (it cost around £10 from amazon) since October.

I do it once a week for 10 minutes, rolling across the entire scalp in different directions including donor area, my HT, crown etc. I don't press down too hard - just enough to feel it.

I've got lots of new growth and my hair seems a little thicker (although i did switch from oral fin and rogaine foam to a topical fin and minox combo at the same time...so can't be sure exactly what caused the regrowth).

It's definitely worth doing - it is cheap, doesn't take up much time, it doesn't hurt, and there is science and anecdotal evidence that says it works.

2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now.

Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018.

Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week.

Wrote a book for newbies called Beating Hair Loss, available on Amazon

Obviously if you look at my post in signature you will see all my documentation of what your looking for.

For the sake of this post.

I use 1.0 -1.5 on front (Dr. Pen) and a 1.5 roller on my crown.

I have stopped using Minoxidil altogether in September and replaced it with nanoxidil and have not seen any discernible differences. Plus the nanoxidil is a way easier application.

Hey Shifty,

Is it important to use the Pen for the front, versus a regular roller do you think?

Also, are there cheaper alternatives that the Dr Pen brand? They seem to be the best, but I haven't bought anything of yet.

Its just my preference. I find it easier and less painful. Same goes for crown area, the pen hurts more there  the roller doesnt.

I am sure there are cheaper alternatives via amazon. I purchased from amazon and the thing stopped working so I bought directly fro the dr pen website the 2nd one, an A7.
