Senior Member hairlossPA Posted November 23, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 23, 2020 I recently got a FUT procedure. I'm almost 3 weeks post-op and my head still feels numb above the incision line and sore in the donor area. How long did it take for other FUT patients to feel "normal" again? Senior Member deitel130 Posted November 23, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 23, 2020 @hairlossPA I'm almost same time as you. I have some soreness around my donor area but since yesterday I feel a lot better. It is not bothering me today. It feels numb if I touch around it but I recall that part from my first surgery it took a few months to return to normal. I found that the recipient site took over a year for the numbness to go. Senior Member deitel130 Posted November 23, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 23, 2020 I should add that this time around I was uncomfortable with the donor due to staples being used vs sutures. My first surgery was sutures and it was a lot less uncomfortable. But seems that it's a lot better today. Did take some over the counter anti inflammatory yesterday. Seems to have helped quite a bit. But I've also noticed that my scar from the staples looks much better than my previous scar already.

Senior Member aaron1234 Posted November 23, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 23, 2020 Not sure if this means anything, but my first procedure took the longest for the numbness and tingling to subside, like around 4-5 months. Subsequent FUT's only took a month or two. 1 Dr. G: 1,000 grafts (FUT) 2008 Dr. Paul Shapiro: 2,348 grafts (FUT) 2009 ~ 1,999 grafts (FUT) 2011 ~ 300 grafts (Scar Reduction) 2013 Dr. Konior: 771 grafts (FUT) 2015 ~ 558 grafts (FUT) 2017 ~ 1,124 grafts (FUE) 2020 My Hair Transplant Journey with Shapiro Medical Group
Regular Member naakmuka Posted November 24, 2020 Regular Member Share Posted November 24, 2020 I had some tightness in the donor area, but never had any numbness. My recipient area is kinda numb though. I'm 2.5 months post-op currently.
