Gavriel
Hi Everyone - I underwent FUE (~3000 grafts) about 2 weeks ago. As everyone, regardless of all the videos and messages read, I’m a little concerned about potentially losing grafts. For me even from day 8, scabs didnt really start falling off but were super dry (I had to wash my hair with the shampoo provided on day 7 in the evening). Afterwards, I unfortunately sometimes started picking on the scabs which resulted in some of them falling off and most of them contained hair attached to them. There was no blood or bleeding present at all, I havent seen any blood after the first night of surgery. My question is really if I could have dislodged grafts by “artificially” picking on the scabs instead of waiting for them to fall off by themselves? I read that probably not as there was no blood, still, seems everyone who asked had some form of an “accident” while I was actually picking on the scabs that were still attached to my scalp... attaching some pics. Senior Member Britanium Posted November 15, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 15, 2020 I don’t see any graft loss when zooming in, just hairs with scabs. I know it’s tough but it’s not good to pick at the scabs. Just follow your clinics after care instructions. The grafts are securely anchored by day 8 though. Gavriel
Is there a way to actually see if its a graft loss or not? I only read that blood is present if a graft is lost... but to me some of my hair endings contain white bulb-like structures, which I’m hoping are not grafts. Senior Member Britanium Posted November 15, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 15, 2020 Yes you get a very noticeable blood trickle when you lose a graft. I cannot see any graft loss in the pics you have shown. Please show a pic of your head if possible?
Senior Member aaron1234 Posted November 15, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 15, 2020 Yup, @JohnAC71 is right. I lost a graft about 6 days post-op and it was so obvious with the blood trickling down my head. Even at 8 days post-op, try to avoid picking the scabs but none of those pictures look out of the ordinary. Instead of picking why not dab on lotion/aloe gel? This will keep things moist and you'll shed some scabs that way without the risk. 1 Dr. G: 1,000 grafts (FUT) 2008 Dr. Paul Shapiro: 2,348 grafts (FUT) 2009 ~ 1,999 grafts (FUT) 2011 ~ 300 grafts (Scar Reduction) 2013 Dr. Konior: 771 grafts (FUT) 2015 ~ 558 grafts (FUT) 2017 ~ 1,124 grafts (FUE) 2020 My Hair Transplant Journey with Shapiro Medical Group
Gavriel
@JohnAC71 @aaron1234 thanks guys. There was definitely no blood trickle or “flowing” blood present at all. Attaching two pics from day 8.
Senior Member aaron1234 Posted November 15, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 15, 2020 Everything looks normal and fine! Senior Member hairlossPA Posted November 15, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 15, 2020 (edited) you really need to start scrubbing those scabs off in the shower when they are soft and damp. do not scratch or scrub when your head is dry. the scabs aren’t just going to “fall off” Edited November 15, 2020 by hairlossPA

Knew it was normal but no matter how many times you tell yourself there's that irrational bit of you that thinks - what if its not!
