Dr. Jerry Cooley
This patient is in his late 40's and wanted to mainly address recession of the hairline. He has baby fine hair. He had tried finasteride in the past but discontinued due to possible side effects. We performed FUT of 3120 grafts (6,255 hairs) as well as PRP/ACell. He is shown 10 months later. Senior Member ontop Posted June 15, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted June 15, 2015 Dr Cooley, Good result from what you had to work from and this is why i respect you as a good honest HT Doc. you show results which is very much fair to what can be done. Has this Pt any plans going forward or his he happy what he has now?
Senior Member Hairsearch21 Posted June 15, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted June 15, 2015 Very nice result (!) One question, how dense is his hair in the frontal region now? Looks like veeeery fine hair to work with. Do you think for fine hair the 50% rule of what you lose is also a good 'route' ? All the best

I find that patients who thought they had low libido at 1mg per day often do not have a problem at 0.5mg every other day. Senior Member ontop Posted June 15, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted June 15, 2015 Thanks for the comments. We performed another PRP at followup. He may try a low dose finasteride and see how he does. I find that patients who thought they had low libido at 1mg per day often do not have a problem at 0.5mg every other day. Also 0.5mg E.O.D is low dose but still can be, as effective as 1.mg daily so I read from other members. Something is better than nothing Doc. Wanted to ask you Dr cooley, I guess this Pt had PRP of day of surgery then he came back to your office some 10mths later to show his progress right? So then you both decided for a 2nd round of PRP at the 10mth mark correct? Any reason for x2 PRP within 10mths Doc? Did you not feel the first PRP droped off a little or not as effective as you wished? Just your thoughts on this Doc please.

In regard to PRP, neither he nor I thought the PRP was wearing off. There are no black and white rules as to how often PRP should be repeated. There are numerous variables here such as genetic rate of loss and use of medications. In this case, the patient wanted to do another PRP to see if additional thickening, particularly in the crown, would occur.
