Senior Member hairlosscpa Posted July 27, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 27, 2014 Hi All, I am 26 years old and had a HT with Dr. True back in October 2012 when I was 24. Dr. True was able to extract 1704 grafts as my donor density was considered slightly below avergae (55 cm^2). It made a decent improvement. I am considering another transplant, possibly not right away as I understand I should probably wait until I'm closer to 30 to evaluate my hairloss at a further stage. However, I still want to keep my options open and possibly consider a transplant within the next year just so I can enjoy my 20's while I am still in it. My main question: If I have had FUT already (pencil thin scar), is it advisable that I go the FUT route again or go with FUE? With FUE I would have small scars along with the linear scar in a donor area that is already below average density. What are your thoughts? I am considering Dr. Konior (FUT) or possibly True/Dorin again (FUT). Still looking into FUE surgeons if I decide to go that route. Senior Member hairlosscpa Posted July 27, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 27, 2014 To clarify, I want to focus on the hairline and mid-section. Dr. True in October 2012 said I have at least 2000 grafts left via FUT. Currently, I use Caboki and Couvre to conceal the thinning. 1st Procedure, Oct. 2012 - 1,704 grafts FUT w/Dr. True 2nd Procedure, Sept. 2015 - 2500 grafts FUE w/Dr. Vories FUE Progress - http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/180966-my-experience-w-dr-vories-2-500-grafts.html FUE 1 year result - http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/184716-1-year-results-2-500-grafts-w-dr-vories.html

Senior Member home1212 Posted July 27, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 27, 2014 you're still young and I think you got a nice result from your procedure 1.5 years ago, I would say wait a little longer to see how your MPB progresses and then decide on how to tackle it, again I say that only because you're still very young, you don't know how your hair loss will progress in your 30's or 40's, you'll have plenty of time to decide since you've got a nice looking head of hair now

I notice you gave up Fin after a year. If you could restart it - even just a couple of milligrams a week - it would potentially buy you some more time. 4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013 1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018 763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020 Proscar 1.25mg every 3rd day
Senior Member Spanker Posted July 27, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 27, 2014 I agree with both above posts. Get back on fin and wait and see how things progress. Senior Member hairlosscpa Posted July 27, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 27, 2014 Thanks for the response. The thing with Fin is that I really gave it a try. Started with 1mg right after the procedure, noticed change in mood and brain fog, switched to .5mg after 4 months, same deal. Stuck with that for 6 months and switched to .25mg. Realized a decline in my sexual health which was also noted by my fiancee. Although with all that, quality of my hair did get much better so I knew I was seeing results but the trade-off was not worth it. I really would want to get back just not sure if I want to go through that mess. Anyways, thank you for all the replies. Greatly appreciated. If anyone has any more, I'm all ears. 1st Procedure, Oct. 2012 - 1,704 grafts FUT w/Dr. True 2nd Procedure, Sept. 2015 - 2500 grafts FUE w/Dr. Vories FUE Progress - http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/180966-my-experience-w-dr-vories-2-500-grafts.html FUE 1 year result - http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/184716-1-year-results-2-500-grafts-w-dr-vories.html
Senior Member Pulpedfiction1 Posted July 27, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 27, 2014 I'm in agreement that you should wait (you are on Finasteride, correct?) Things look quite decent at the moment. You'd get a nice improvement from just making a few styling changes. You're trying to pull off the 'rock star' cut..but I'd consider brushing it down in front, which would conceal the majority of the thinning area. Once you've already had an FUT, you may as well stick with FUT for future procedures...FUT has a higher yield, and you already have the donor scar. In addition, FUT is more cost-efficient. Assuming you're on meds, my advice would be to wait another 5-10 years before a 2nd procedure.
Senior Member hairlosscpa Posted July 28, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 28, 2014 Thank you all for your replies! Pulpedfiction1- no I am not on Fin based on the side effects mentioned in my previous posts. The pics in my original post are about 7 months off Fin. 1st Procedure, Oct. 2012 - 1,704 grafts FUT w/Dr. True 2nd Procedure, Sept. 2015 - 2500 grafts FUE w/Dr. Vories FUE Progress - http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/180966-my-experience-w-dr-vories-2-500-grafts.html FUE 1 year result - http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/184716-1-year-results-2-500-grafts-w-dr-vories.html
