Hello everyone.

This is such a great forum with very experienced members.

I decided to register my self, present you "my hair profile" and ask for advice.

And probably some encouragement...

I am 44 and I reached a point where I will go for FUE in the next few months or I will completely forget about it.

Please take a look at my online gallery with my "hair profile" pictures.

http://1drv.ms/1rbjTEm (Clik to zoom. Full screen)

I am losing my hair for 15 years. Nothing dramatic. Slowly and gradually.

My FUE expectations, thanks to all of you, should be realistic.

My goal is to repair my hair line and my crown with appropriate placement and create an illusion of not being...

- I would like to cover my problematic areas with 30 grafts per sq/cm. (My crown and "upper" part of my head")

- Repair my hair line.

In my family, i cant say that there are bald people but I can say there is a "normal" hair thinning as expected.

Do you think this is achievable and what do you think I should do?

Is my donor area OK?

What should I aim for?

Thank You!

Mr .Crown

I think you should be aware that you will eventually lose what is on top of your head. So your should only treat as you are nw6. I would personally concentrate on the frontal half to add density and leave the back part alone. Forgot

Fortify your hairline and fool in behind it. Good luck.

Spanker,

thank you for your reply. I really appreciate your advice. :)

How long do you think I can maintain my updated look with updated hair line without the need for a second surgery?

This part confused me a bit.

My plan is to repair my crown (vertex) "back" area. In your opinion, should I leave it like it is and concentrate only on my upper areas only without fixing the vertex and hairline?

Forgot Fortify your hairline and fool in behind it. Good luck.
Will you be so kind to clarify this?

Thank You!

Hi mycrowngone.

You will eventually be bald nw6/7 in the front and crown. Its much much much worse to be bald in the front than the other way around.

Fix up the front and only the front. Its where you look at yourself in the mirror and where people see you 95% of the time. Who looks at the top and/or back of someone's head? Not unless that person is looking fr9m behind or an absolute giant looking down at the top of your head.

Whats the point of have hair on the crown and thenater losing hair in the front? Ok if you want to look like a Shoalin monk. Fix up the front first and foremost.. then if you have any grafts left over on your 2nd or 3rd HT address the mid area and crown.

In my opinion.

Regards Logan

I would agree with Spanker on this. Your situation seems to be a little tricky right now because you can probably add some concealer and grab a pretty good look. You seem to be a very good candidate for meds (although I'm not expert with that evaluation at all). I'm not sure where you reside, but I would highly recommend a consultation and evaluation with Dr. Konior. In my opinion, he is as good as they get. There is a "right" plan to managing your hair loss, however you need to understand your end game and have realistic expectations. Dr. Konior is definitely one that will give you a straight evaluation without wasting tens of thousands of dollars. Surgery is definitely an option, but you need to make sure this is the right time for you surgery. I'd hate to see you have surgery, suffer significant shock loss and never see the native hair again.

Good luck…..good news is you still have hair right now!

Sorry, I was on my phone, auto correct.

No way to know how long you could maintain your look. My suggestion is to fortify the hairline where it is now and work back, if you have the donor for it, which a doctor can tell you. If not, I would wait until it gets too bad and shave my head.

Thanks a lot everyone!

I updated my "priority" :o order and my expectations:

1. fortify my front (upper) region. (Will get much thinner in future.)

2. fortify and lower (a bit) my hairline where it is now. (Will get much thinner in future.)

3. If my donor area supports enough grafts, then work back on my crown.

Would you agree with this?

Optimising some more

Do you think that beside fortifying I can lower (a bit) my (frontal) hairline? (No2)

Thanks again!

I would want to frame my face by rebuilding the front as others have suggested to you. Be prepared that you're heading to a Norwood 7 from the looks of it. The crown does bother & of course it needs to be addressed at a later stage. It certainly bothers me when I touch it and see it in a side mirror or on a security camera on a bus.

Rogaine foam & propecia in a small doze can certainly help. It's better to take some meds than nothing.

I would be very wary of lowering your hairline at all. Given your projected high level Norwood I would concentrate on reinforcing what you already have. A decent hairline will provide a bit of lowering when it grows in.

As mentioned before you should go for a decent hairline and then whatever grafts you can spare would go back towards the crown.

My online gallery with my "hair profile" pictures.

Thanks again for your input.

This is the feedback I got so far:

-Based from the pictures above, I was mostly "diagnosed" with NW4, approaching NW-5A level.

-My "gradual" hair loss started approximately 17 years ago. (Consulted some old pictures.)

-I never used any type of medications or treatments to put my hair loss under control.

-My age is 43 and I should expect "small decline" in my hair loss progress.

-I will definitely reach NW5A level by the end of my 50`s. (If not using any meds.)

-By the end of the 60`s, no estimates are possible. (Anyway, if still no cure in 2030, I expect that FUE becomes fully automated, and done by your local hair-dresser called "Hairtronic 3000 and sons".)

Anyway "the plan" updated again:

1. Fortify my front (upper) region. (To be future-safe.)

2. Fortify (*and maybe lower a bit) my hairline. (To be future-safe.)

3. If my donor area **supports enough grafts, work back on my crown.

*lower = 0.5 ~ 1cm

** My donor area should support 4000+ grafts. This will be determent on the operation day.

***MicroFUE technology will be used.

Does this sounds realistic or not?

Thank You!

Sounds pretty realistic to me. 4000 grafts probably will need to be done in 2 days using FUE. I would not lower the hairline unless it really bothers you. Dropping it 1 cm will eat up at least 1k grafts to do it right. Once your hair grows in, and it becomes fuller, it will already feel like it dropped.

This forum is such an eye opener for me.

I made some additional “frontal hairline” close up photos and I will definitely use every advice you gave me.

Please, check them out.

(Click on photo for gallery view.)

So,

I will not lower my hairline.

Instead I will use every single graft to fortify (and rebuild) my hairline.

As Spanker said, the “lowering effect” would come out of that, automatically.

What worries me is the “frontal hair design line”. I wonder what line I should follow. (Or line-type)

Any advice?

Thanks!

I guess you don't want to hear it but if there is a chance you could feel ok with a shaved head maybe you want to hold off on surgery?

You could still just work on the Crown but here's an illustration of the difference between CROWN ONLY and FRONT ONLY in about 10 years.

I'm serious.  Just look at my face.
