  1. after pics look good. Is he wearing concealer in the before pics? Strange hairless pattern…….can't really tell from the donor, but seems as though he would be a really good candidate for FUE. Seems as though we don't have the entire story to this…..regardless, the after pics look good.
  2. Personally, I can't speak to Dr. Meshkin as I don't know much about him at all. I have had two consultations with both Dr. Ron Shapiro as well as Dr. Paul Shapiro. I would recommend both. Dr. Ron Shapiro seemed to have a little better "bedside manner", but I may have caught Dr. Paul on a busier day. They both seemed fantastic…top notch. Personally, I went with Dr. Konior out of Chicago. Just do your research, take your time and make an informed decision. I have met with and spoken with numerous doctors in my pursuit of a hair transplant. Although I'm sure there on numerous good options, I am partial to the three I referenced for several reason (hands on involvement in the process, consistent results, commitment to the best result possible, experience, communication)….all are fantastic.

  4. Your plan seems very reasonable and appropriate for your age (young). I would definitely recommend temporary SMP as you don't know what the next 10 years will do with further hair loss as well as scientific advances in the hair replacement field. Good luck…….
  5. Agree, it looks good. I'm assuming in 2005, the previous HT was some sort of strip. Could you please provide pics of the SMP into the scar? Thanks...
  6. Lighting isn't great, but as is typical it seems you had a lot of thickening from month five to six. It looks really, really good.
  7. I think I'm correct in Saying Shapiro Medical Group sold there machine…….and I don't think it was from wear and tear. My guess is they weren't happy with results. H&W may purchased SMG's machine. Regardless, I think I'd still rely on the skill of a great surgeon.
  8. You've addressed the concealers….sounds silly, but Joan Rivers has a good concealer as well. Just google it. Personally, an 1 1/2 inch scar isn't that big a deal. However, if it's truly bothering you….I'd check with a doctor about having an FUE surgery into the scar. Not sure where you are, but Konior is in Chicago. Even at $10/graft or so (I just pulled that number out of thin air, don't know what he or any other top shelf doctor would charge on a small surgery), you can't be talking a lot of money to move a few grafts into the scar. I would thik the most you would have would be 25 or so. Anyways, just a permanent solution you might consider so you don't have to deal with concealers the rest of your life.
  9. Personally, your hair looks great to me…..with that being said, Dr. Konior (Chicago) is very close to Ohio and is as good as they come. He's very much a realist and will take you through your options. I'd highly recommend you see him in person. One issue to address is future loss and the possibility of shock loss after surgery. Dr. Konior has a fantastic patient rep (Spanker) on this site as well and he is a great resource. Good luck.
  10. A really good write up. Appreciate the detail and time you put into educating this forum on your experience. I have a couple of questions: 1) I assume this is permanent SMP, not temporary…correct? 2) This seemed like a very involved process and I compliment you and your doctors for the attention to detail…..can you comment on the cost of a process like this (it doesn't have to be your situation specifically….just your educated opinion)?
  11. If you have a lot of flexibility, you might inquire about filling a spot for a last minute cancellation. I talked with a few of the top doctors and they stated there were steep discounts available if able to schedule and confirm on a weeks notice. Just something to consider....good luck.
  12. Dr. Konior does perform FUE. There have been a few of his results posted on here…and in typical Konior fashion, the results have been great. I had FUT surgery with him at the end of May (I'm a full blown NW 5 with no hairline). Konior and his staff are fantastic…..really words can't describe how impressed I was with the entire process. I would highly recommend you contact him for a consultation.
  13. Just my opinion, but I think your hair looks good. It's a little tough to tell as you haven't groomed your hair in the "after" pics, but it is a very respectable look. I'd like to see your hair cut shorter and I think I could give a better observation. I know nothing about your surgery or post care, but it seems as though you're being a little rough on your doctor at this point. You haven't had any communication with him, no questions, no discussion about results……….I'd give him a chance to evaluate your results and provide a recommendation before attempting to bad mouth him on this forum when it appears as though he hasn't done anything to deserve your attack. He hasn't ignored calls, hasn't lied or misrepresented anything………all I'm saving is that I'd give the guy a chance to evaluate your results and you have a conversation with him regarding your expectations. Good luck in your evaluation and I hope it works out. And your hair looks good.
  14. I've analyzed it as best I can and I think it's just hard to tell. I don't see a noticeable difference. If it is affecting you, maybe try a little concealer in the crown. I think a very small amount might give you the appearance that you're looking for. It looks great. Feel free to post another picture in a week and we can give you another opinion.
  15. I apologize for my ignorance up front. Where are the studies? I'd like to read them. And I guess my criteria would be: 1. First and foremost…who funded the study? 2. Who conducted the study? 3. How big was the sample group? 4. What physicians were involved? 5. Sounds silly, but how were the percentages presented? I've read books on how you can make percentages work to show your case. I guess at the end of the day, it all has to be broken down. It would be great if an independent, non for profit group would evaluate and breakdown studies that come from the pharmaceutical field. Maybe it's done….I just haven't researched and/or paid enough attention to it. However, I'm now beginning to do some research on the topic. More so because I'm a NW 5 with high sides. It seems as though I've stabilized the past eight (8) years or so (I just turned 45). But I just had my surgery with Dr. Konior and I'm not really a candidate for additional surgeries (maybe some touch up work with FUE). So…complete stabilization is important for me……as are the sides associated with the drugs.
