Hi I'm new here and I'm considering a hair transplant with one of these surgeons Dr Raghu reddy or Dr Shamhalak. Has anyone used either these to and would recommend either of them? Also from the pic provided does anyone have any idea how many grafts and cost I might be looking at? Apologies for my lack of knowledge this has only become a recent issue for me and the more I look the bigger the issue gets :(

Can't comment on those doctors, but are you looking at just doing your crown? If so, you're looking at around 1000-2000 grafts depending on how aggressive you want to get. You don't want to pack the crown too densely as just maintainig a general illusion of coverage helps save donor grafts for the future. The hairline area is different.

The best thing for you to do now though is research hair treatments and find out what you can do to prevent future loss. You will lose a lot more hair in the coming years. Trust me. Happens to everyone. If you do a HT but don't prepare for the future, you'll be chasing your tail. Specifically you want to look into Finasteride, Minoxidil, and Nizoral... in that order. Ideally you want to take all three. They're proven to work, particularly Fin.

Also, if you get on Fin and/or Minoxidil for 6 months, you may actually regrow a bunch of hair and need an even smaller HT procedure.

Thanks for your reply Rootz,

The crown is certainly the worst area but I'm thinning at the front also so would ideally like to do something with this area too. I use minoxidil at the minute but I am weary of finestride/propecia because of any unwanted side effects that I have read about. Maybe I'll have to consider trying it.

Welcome Nelee!

Dr. Raghu Reddy performs FUE exclusively and is recommended by our community. I am unfamiliar with Dr Shamhalak.

I agree with Rootz. Talk to a physician about finasteride and consider adding Rogaine to your regimen.

Best of luck!

I take it your from the uk?? If so reddy has shown some good results on here, but I think he is quite expensive, I'd get a consult from him but also dr Lorenzo in manchester( farjo clinic) as I think he's a similar cost to reddy and is considered one of if not the best fue specialist in the world!!!!

Avoid the other dr if I were you!

Your results look great there Sean :)

Hi David, yes I'm going to look into finesteride but like I said concerned about the sides, have you guys had good results with it? Am I correct in thinking fin is propecia?

Here is info on Dr Shahmalak Hair Transplant Clinic: Hair Surgery in Manchester & London - Crown Clinic

Hi hairshopeing, yes I'm from Manchester UK. Have heard of farjo/Lorenzo. They sound really expensive although there work does seem top notch. Just not sure I could afford it there. I know I really need to go for a consultation to see how many grafts and the costs I can expect as the cost could be a game changer and finesteride the only option.

Thanks guys

Is Nizoral better than T-Gel? I've been using T-Gel.. what's the difference?

Paulygon is a former patient of Dr. Parsa Mohebi

My regimen includes:

HT #1 2710 grafts at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration in Los Angeles in 2012

Rogaine foam 2x daily, since 2012 (stopped ~10/2015)

Finasteride 1.25mg daily, since 2012 (stopped ~12/2015)

HT #2 3238 grafts at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration in Los Angeles in Jun. 2016

Started Rogaine and Propecia in July. 2016 after being off of them for about a year.
