Senior Member Dr. James DeYarman Posted August 16, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted August 16, 2013 This 55 year old man had 3150 grafts transplanted 8 months ago. The patient does not take finasteride or rogaine. He did not elect to have PRP or Acell with his transplant. The patient is very pleased with the results. Regular Member evil Posted August 18, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted August 18, 2013 A definite improvement doc. Can you provide a photo with the grafts immediately after the HT + do you have 4/6 months photos, if not no problem.
Senior Member Nick153452 Posted August 18, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted August 18, 2013 I'm not overly thrilled with this result. There is for sure an improvement, but it looks to me as though there was a fairly low yield. Senior Member Spanker Posted August 18, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted August 18, 2013 Very natural, but not a drastic change, also, its difficult to appreciate the difference with a wet pre-op combed back verses a dry post op combed forward. It appears that the pt elected for a total coverage approach versus building up the frontal 3rd, but its hard to tell without immediate post op. Actually at first I thought it was combed back in the pre op photo too but the more I looked at it I think it's combed forward in all the pictures. I think for what looks like a possible N 5/6 you couldn't expect much more from 3150 grafts. He'd need at least 6000 grafts to get the appearance of more hair than scalp up there. Obviously a patient wouldn't hope for a complete coverage with good density at this level of hair loss with only 3150 grafts. That we can all agree on. However, I've seen better results with similar grafts. Look closer. See where the curves are in the preop hair. Its combed back. Senior Member Mercury Posted August 20, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted August 20, 2013 I agree: why is his hair combed back in preop photos and why is it combed forward in the post op photos. This happens a lot.
