Sufferer-

Welcome to the forum, buddy! South Africa huh? Lekker! I got back from an 18 day trip to ZA last year, and fell in love with your country.

There are a lot of great physicians who are recommended on here, and who perform terrific hair restorations with minimal loss patients such as yourself. A lot of the surgeons perform excellent dense-packing, and outstanding results.

Have you started to make a list of physicians you're interested in? That's usually a good starting point. Also, do you plan to have an FUSS or an FUE procedure. You said you have had 2 transplants before.....how many grafts were used in total, and where did you have the work done.

I think your hair looks great, but you came to the right place if you're looking to find a surgeon who will achieve the results you desire.

Welcome again, and please keep us posted with whatever it is you decide to do!

Best,

Mike

@ agenteye.

yeah south africa's great very friendly people, where are you from?

i'm not sure of the exact yield i'd say 2000 grafts in total... i had it done in johannesburg sandton (a clinic called 'hair options')... well i've got nothing good to say about them it wasn't to my satisfaction.

i'm reluctant to go for another strip procedure, but if i have to i will. so far i'm interested in dr sanusi umar's work (due to his extensive amounts of videos on youtube). however i'd like to meet patients in person... pictures dont do justice... i agree my hair doesn't look too bad in pics... but in person i'm unhappy and a few people have noticed something 'funny'.

it's also making relationships a hell by causing intimacy issues (i dont want her fiddling with my hairline... i'm embarrassed bout the procedure i wanted it to go unoticable, i'm only 23 at the moment).

my dermatologist also said there are some good surgeons in india that'll not be as expensive as the states. however i'm not willing to compromise quality for price... like i said i want to do my research properly and meet the patients.

thanks for the response agenteye.

Pleasure, buddy! I have a lot of good mates in Jo'burg....and I stayed in Sandton for the short time I spent in South Africa. However, Cape Town is what I fell in love with! Haha, I'm sure that's the case with loads of visitors. I even went as far as figuring out how I could move there!! =)

I am from the Western United States (Nevada/California border), but traveled to Eastern Canada for my procedure.

If I were you, I would make a short list of about 5 or so surgeons whose work you like....and you can slowly eliminate from your list from there. Since this will be your 3rd procedure, it will be important to do it properly......as you don't want to waste any grafts from your donor. I certainly wouldn't rule out strip either just because you weren't thrilled with the results before; however because of your minimal hair loss, you would certainly be an excellent candidate for FUE. I'm guessing you could achieve the look you are trying to with a relatively small amount of grafts (2000-3000).

A lot of patients seem to be pleased with Dr. Umar's work....but again, it never hurts to research multiple possibilities. You seem to be an educated consumer...so I'm sure you'll do your proper research before diving in.

This forum is an excellent source for advice, support, and information! You are in a great place here, so if you ever need anything along the way....don't hesitate to ask. We are all on here for the same reasons, and it is definitely like having another family!! =)

Keep us posted when you make up your mind.

Best,

Mike

I'm not completely sold on Dr. Umar, and he would never be my first choice as far as FUE is concerned (he does exclusively FUE procedures) He is more of a specialist in last option patients who have nowhere else to go because they have exhausted their donor supply. That being said, if you are sold on FUE, Turkey has the best surgeons for the price. Dr. Doganay is the only one officially recommended on this site (2euros/graft), although Dr. Demisroy has quite a large following of fans and is 1 euro/graft. Dr. Erdogan has some INCREDIBLE results that have just been posted on the "Result posted by clinics" section on this forum. They are recent and I would definately check them out if I were you. I believe he charges 2.5 euros/graft. If you want the best of the best and money isn't an option, Dr. Lorenzo does the best FUE in the world at 7.5 Euros/graft in the UK and Spain (I'm actually not entirely sure he still does work in Spain). There are of course Dr Bisanga and Dr. Mwamba in Belgium, but I usually toss them off my list because. although they are great, they are more expensive than the Turkish doctors named and results aren't any better. In fact, those Turkish doctors are exclusively FUE, so they know what they're doing.

Don't consider North America if you're going FUE. Dr. Rahal would be the only one I would really consider for FUE. North America has wonderful FUSS doctors. Dr. Feller in New York, Dr. Kornior (my personal favorite) in Chicago, Shapiro brothers in Minnesota, Dr Hasson and Dr Wong and Rahal in Canada. They will give you state of the art results with FUSS.

Of course, there are other doctors, but those are pretty much the only ones I consider. I maybe subjective.

@agenteye and spanker,

why do your results look so perfect? it's as if you never had a transplant done (this could be the ultimate compliment.... but i'm very untrusting at this stage)... do you mind emailing more pics if you have? before the surgeries and immediate post operative?
