Senior Member SV_08 Posted March 26, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted March 26, 2013 The time has come. Scheduled to have my hair transplant tomorrow with Dr. Reed in San Diego. Goal is to get around 2500-2700 grafts. Hairline, temples and front half of the scalp. Crown will not be touched. Also looking to improve on the scar from my last procedure. The original plan was to aim for 2200, but we decided to go for more if possible. This will be my 2nd HT. First one was in 2006. 800 grafts into hairline. I am 31 years old. So much research, thought, planning, anxiety goes into this. Hard to believe its time. Any last minute advice would be appreciated. Very nervous and anxious. The stress at this point is overwhelming... Original HT: Hair Restoration Social Network - Hair Loss and Transplant Photos HT2 - March, 2013. 2933 grafts. HT1 - June, 2006. 800 grafts. Senior Member gillenator Posted March 26, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted March 26, 2013 Spiral, Congrats on your upcoming procedure. Have you been doing scalp stretching exercises? I ask this because of both revising your existing strip scar and taking out an addtional 2200-2700 grafts in a single strip excision. Hope all works out for you and you achieve your goals. Let us know how everything turns out. Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic. Senior Member Spanker Posted March 26, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted March 26, 2013 I have seem some good work from Dr. Reed. I feel like you will be pretty happy, as I have seen that you stated that your last transplant was not a bad job, because it looks bad to me. You can see the corn row effect, which you will not get with Dr. Reed, and you should have a MUCH better scar. Unfortunately it looks like you went pretty aggressive for a 25 year old. I wish you luck. Be smart aboout your grafts as they are limited and you have a long time to keep balding. I hope that you are on finasteride. Senior Member 1978matt Posted March 26, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted March 26, 2013 I recall your photos from a few months ago. The doctor who did your 800 is a schmuck! No two ways about it. However, it is not the worst HT I've ever seen. I'm sure you will get a much improved appearance with Dr Reed. In my book this is a 'repair' case. 4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013 1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018 763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020 Proscar 1.25mg every 3rd day

I didn't really research much. Hell, this was before I knew this forum existed! I'm ok with it being a repair case. Just means I'm going to look a lot better when its done =) Good luck, hope it goes very well. Post again post-HT? Thank! Will do! With a present scar...revising it...while getting up to 2700 grafts??? Be careful not to push it too far..... Best of luck! Can you let me know how you mean exactly? You think 2700 is too much? Some Dr's I've consulted with wanted to go over 3k... Edited March 27, 2013 by Spirall08 HT2 - March, 2013. 2933 grafts. HT1 - June, 2006. 800 grafts. Senior Member Spanker Posted March 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted March 27, 2013 Yes, I think with your level of potential loss, your hairline was too aggressive. I worry about mine being too aggressive sometimes and I am 9 years older with a fraction of your loss, so maybe I am a worry wort. You clearly have to potential to becoming a NW6 and reducing the about of coverage by a higher hairline is the best way to increase density and assure there is enough donor in the bank. On the plus side, you had a good six year run. BTW, judging from your photos, you really really need to think about being on fin. I assume that the doctor is dropping your hairline a bit to cammo the mini's. Good luck. I hope that you keep updates on your condition coming. I dont remember a pt of your doctors ever doing that actively. I am an online representative for Dr. Raymond Konior who is an elite member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. Senior Member SV_08 Posted March 29, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 29, 2013 Went back for my Day 1 follow-up, shampooing. Doctor said everything looks good! VERY little pain. Practically no redness. No swelling yet. I've actually been out and about all day. Still on edge as these first 72 hours are critical until the grafts set in. I will start a thread with before/after pics as well as a complete review of my experience so far.... HT2 - March, 2013. 2933 grafts. HT1 - June, 2006. 800 grafts.
