Regular Member aramis69 Posted December 22, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted December 22, 2012 Save your money. I have tried it over a long period without success. The FDA had approved the device's safety and NOT on it's effectiveness in combatting hair loss. My Hair Loss Website

Regular Member Gary1911A1 Posted December 23, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted December 23, 2012 You can also go to Amazon and read the reviews of people who have purchased one and find the reviews are not positive.

Dr. Glenn Charles
It is true that FDA clearence only says it causes no harm, it does not mean that it is effective. I have had patients who clearly had positive results and others who really had no visible results. I tell all patients considering laser treatment this information and let them decide if they want to take that chance. Senior Member gillenator Posted December 26, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 26, 2012 Is it possible for patients to use it on a "trial basis" before investing a large amount in purchasing one? Dr. Glenn Charles
Unfortunetly I do not see how that is possible. Once it is used the device cannot be sold. It would be great if the laser companies gave the doctors some sample units to use for this purpose. Senior Member jerzig Posted December 27, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 27, 2012 I've heard stories of laser therapy working for hair-loss related to certain medical issues, but not for MPB. Maybe those stories are false, too. http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=2579
Senior Member gillenator Posted January 2, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted January 2, 2013 It would be great if patients could even rent these devices for a trial period before they commit the larger investment. Senior Member Bobilero Posted January 3, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted January 3, 2013 From reading up on it. PEople say it can help primarly as a post transplant tool in reducing redness , preventing shockloss and helping the new grafts take by improving vascularity. I think there are some studies online that showed it helped in some of these aspects. However in terms of regrowing hair generally the consensus is its not effective. Dr. Glenn Charles
I agree that the lasers have the potential to do all of the things you mentioned above. I generally describe the effects of using the laser as more aboutimproving the quality of the hair versus increasing the quantity of hair. Senior Member gillenator Posted January 5, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted January 5, 2013 That's very interesting Dr. Charles because I have heard of similiar experiences regarding improvement to hair texture and even potential gains in caliber which IMHO is critical. I wish there were more clinical studies with laser technology to confirm any and all changes to hair growth, changes to growth cycles, and even hair shaft diameter. Thanks for sharing with us! Senior Member s2thoudriver Posted January 5, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted January 5, 2013 Hi Gillenator and Dr.Charles. These are my thoughts as well. Low level lasers are used for healing wounds and are therefore it makes sense that it helps the donor and recipient site repair more quickly and pomote healthy growth. I used a Raymax throughout my first few months after my HT and was an early grower, the redness (scar tissue) reduced quite quickly and th general health of my hair appeared good. Prior to my HT, i used it for a few months and people commented on how healthy and thick my hair was looking, though i agree, i didn't see any growth of new hair.
