Senior Member HARIRI Posted December 11, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 11, 2012 HSC caused a response in over 80% of subjects who grew 40-60% more hair. Pretty impressive. Current trials show 8% increase in hair density at 12 weeks decreasing to 6% at 24 weeks then rising to 30-40% at 48 weeks (average of all subjects) It also works in difficult to treat temples with increased density of 20-25% Hairs that were there at 1 year were still there at 2 years. The conference was told a treatment course of two lots of 50 injections 6 weeks apart would cost USD2000. They say you have about 50 injections a session. Regular Member Gary1911A1 Posted December 11, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted December 11, 2012 That sounds promising. Hope as time goes on they're able to improve on those percentages.
Regular Member capa Posted December 11, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted December 11, 2012 Will these hairs be dht resistant? İf not, I think hair transplants will remain as the only worthwhile solution to hairloss for me.
Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted December 11, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 11, 2012 Exciting news! Sounds like they are projecting results slightly better than those of Minoxidil/Propecia, but without some of the issues that stop hair loss sufferers from using these treatments (those most experts still highly recommend them). I believe Rogaine states that they have 20-30% regrowth in 80% of individuals (whereas Histogen seems to project somewhere between 20-50% in 80% of patients). Seems like it will at least serve as a nice preservation tool and a helpful adjunct to surgical procedure (whether that is traditional hair transplantation or some type of "donor doubling" procedure in the future). However, as previously stated, I would always advise individuals to remain "cautiously optimistic" toward these future treatments and always investigate effective therapies that are available now (as hair loss is a progressive condition and early prevention is almost always advantageous). Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted December 11, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 11, 2012 Will these hairs be dht resistant? İf not, I think hair transplants will remain as the only worthwhile solution to hairloss for me. Good question. I believe Histogen's Hair Stimulating Complex serves to "awaken" follicles stuck in a persistent telogen or a greatly shortened anagen-to-telogen cycling. Because the follicles are simply re-invigorated, and not implanted from a DHT-resistant site, they would likely still be susceptible to the hormone. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted December 12, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 12, 2012 What Histogen didn't tell you is that in 95% of the subjects lost their testicles in the trials. histogensideeffects.com But in all seriousness, this does sound promising. Maybe a cure isn't on the horizon, but a lot more weapons in the arsenal seem a very real possibility.
