Wanted to share my experience with all the folks who are interested in possibly going this route one day.

My first post here, however I am active member on the other major hairloss forum,I go by the same username.

Anyways,a little about me,suffering with hairloss for about 15 years,diffuse thinner,not a candidate for a hair transplant.

Started looking into SMP about 6 months back, been on propecia for about 10 years so my current hair is holding well.

My appointment was booked for Sept 7th and 8th at Dr Fellers office in Great Neck,NY.

I normally wear my hair long on the side and on the top,and use toppik on a daily basis, after doing tons of research i decided to make this work i would have to crop my hair down to a 1 grade,to give it that natural look.

| met Spex,Dr Feller, and a few others who also got work done from Milena Lardi.

There was tons of pictures taken by Spex and Dr Feller,I am hoping one of them can chime in and add pictures to this post.

Enough of that, first procedure was Friday the 7th which took about 3 hours and the second on Saturday the 8th which took 1 hour.

Its day 5 since the last procedure, and my honest take is that I am impressed,my family and friends are impressed.

I got a haircut yesterday and my barber oof 20 years did not notice a thing.

I would probably need another session to perfect the look, for now things are good,i plan to update monthly pics so I can document any fading, color changing etc.

I did have the procedure done on most of the top of my head.

Your questions are welcomed:smile.gif

srk735,

first of all congrats for your procedure and your head definitely looks a lot better!!

spex,

Thank you for sharing the pictures they are really helpful. Based on the result , I have some questions.

1- So it looks like TP can create a 3-D illusion event with that low density. So is there a huge difference of applying the procedure to a full blown nw6 and a diffuse thinner even that low density? In my opinion, it does so I just want your opinion.

2- If so , should a full blown nw6 have a fue first then smp in order to have the best look with buzzed rather than razor shaved??

I just wanted to add the hair length in the pics was 2.5 guard, not the best length for this type of hairloss,I just got back from getting my haircut at a 1 guard and the results are astounding, will post pics later on tonight.

Very nice!

How long does the (ink?) last, and how much was your "procedure"?

Also how long (hours/days) does it take from beginning to the end?

The ink approximately will last for about 2 years, this could vary depending on a number of factors, protecting from the sun, chlorine etc etc.

A procedure like this would cost anywhere from $1600 Euros or 2K +

Impressive! Please keep us posted.

I will post some pics up shortly, the pictures do not do the look justice,I have shaved down to #.50 guard and the change is phenomenal.

That really is a nice result. Interestingly I had 2 patients come in yesterday asking about SMP and I referred them to this thread.

Its important for the facts to get out there about SMP. One of the patients essentially thought you could "tattoo on a full head of hair" based on marketing they had seen elsewhere.

SMP will not replace medicine or surgery, but rather is another tool in the armamentarium against hairloss. So far, I think its really ideal for guys like this, scar concealment (Spex is a perfect example), and I'm hopeful that it will offer improvement for both thinning crowns (when there is limited donor hair likely to be used elsewhere) and possibly women.

Like any tool, it will have its limitations, you can't saw with a hammer for example, and its exciting to be on the forefront of this new technology.

I am very curious about this procedure.. afriend of mine in london has done it and its not looking as favourable on him as I wouldve expected. though your head is looking great with it.

Do these tattoos not turn green then because my cousins have crosses on their thumbs and after all these years look quite green , jarring and unsightly ? !

Is there a special ink that can be applied then ?

raul, Milena does not use any blue or green in her pigments, therefore the work will not turn color, just fade and eventually disappear completely.

I had the chance to see this result up close and personal (I viewed it with Dr. Feller's magnifiers) and it looks 100% like real stubble.

SRK,

Thanks for sharing your experience with SMP and for providing some photos. I see that you are undergoing multiple "sessions" of SMP...I assume this is to obtain the illusion of density you want? How many sessions will you be undergoing in total? What will the total cost be for all sessions?

Since this is temporary SMP, rather than permanent, are you planning to keep up with regular procedures every 2 years or so? Given the costs may exceed 2K Euros or 3K American dollars (which I can't ascertain from the above as to whether or not that's per session or total), I assume that an SMP consumer would have to pay 3K plus every 2 years? If that's the case, it seems that the price tag for SMP in the long run will be much higher than even surgical hair restoration.

I also have a question about fading, which is open to anyone to answer. Since tattooing from temporary tattoing will eventually disappear, I assume it will fade gradually over time? If so, how long does the fading process take and will it still look natural as it begins to fade?

I look forward to learning more.

Best wishes,

Bill

Bill,

You bring up some valid points,i have currently gone through 2 sessions,

would probably need another session to get it looking like how I want it to look.

I believe the 3K US dollars would be for the start to finish price for the one procedure depending how many sessions it would take to get the look.

Paying 3K every 2 years is a bit much to be honest, however my hope is that Milena Lardi from Beauty Medical will come up with some sort of permanent solution in the next couple of years, also hoping there is more stories of success from permanent SMP clients.

Temporary SMP can fade as early as 1 year. 3 K per year over say a 30 year period...90K! A high quality rug might cost the same over an equivalent period...an NW6 HT strip 2 procedures maybe 30K over a 2 year period and done...FUE 6 K grafts maybe 45-60K....

Bottom line is the market will support temporary SMP at a REASONABLE price. People want 2 things: safe ink; and the option to go back to normal if they don't like it. Come on Docs....be reasonable. If you offer this, bottom line is a tech or specialist is doing the inking...materials cost should be reasonable...lets keep it real here. strip scars should be in the hundreds range and full head in the very LOW thousand at most. I would love to see the economic justification for anything further than this.
