Senior Member gobble Posted September 6, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted September 6, 2012 I feel like seeds have been planted in my head and I'm anxiously waiting for them to sprout. I know the timelines for the fullness to which it should fill in, but how many weeks post surgery do you first see the little hairs starting to grow through the surface of your scalp? Senior Member Icecreamman Posted September 6, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted September 6, 2012 Maybe 3 months but more than likely 4. It really is gradual and chances are you may not even notice new hairs popping up. I think I noticed hairline taking shape more than small tiny hairs popping thru if that makes any sense. But I implore you not to stare in the mirror everyday, it's easier said than done, but it will drive you crazy...

Senior Member orangehair Posted September 6, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted September 6, 2012 gobble........its really a mixed bag, some grafts never shed there hairs but usually 2- 6 months is the window of emergence and then up to 14 months for full cosmetic development.....requires some patience:) VP Patient & Media Relations for The Hair Loss Doctors by Robert J. Dr. Glenn Charles
I generally see the beginning of hair growth after a hair transplant procedure earlier in younger patients (2-3 months) and more delayed in patients with more seniority (4-5 months). viki250
Dr. Glenn M. Charles, how you define young and senior patients?
Dr. Glenn Charles
I was trying to avoid using the term older patients. I tell patients in their 20's-30's 3-4 months, 40's-50's 4-5 months and over 60 years old 5 months or more. Senior Member newguyintown Posted September 10, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted September 10, 2012 (edited) Is it possible that the hair growth begins within 45 days of the HT? I have had a HT around 45 days back and it seems to me that there is some new hair growth (see the small hair in the attached pic). Senior Member newguyintown Posted September 10, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted September 10, 2012 Thanks for your reply Spanker. I thought as much, I can't see the hair in the crown area (even in pics) but I can feel them. I must say I was a li'l surprised, wasn't expecting anything before 4 months! Senior Member gobble Posted September 10, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted September 10, 2012 Possible that some of your grafts just didn't fall out? That is definately the case with me.
Senior Member newguyintown Posted September 10, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted September 10, 2012 Possible that some of your grafts just didn't fall out? That is definately the case with me. The size of the grafted hair was much bigger, if you zoom into the pic probably you'll see them much clearly, you'll see very minute hair and I think they are the new hair 'popping' out..
