Regular Member geoffrecession Posted October 25, 2011 Regular Member Posted October 25, 2011 For a long time now I have been washing my hair everyday. I suffer from a receding hairline (Norwood 2). I switch between Nizoral and Nioxin. Will washing my hair everyday speed up the hair loss? How often should i wash my hair? Could I condition my hair alone? It has just been on my mind lately. I am finding lot of hair in my hand after shampooing. It is becoming a concern. Looking forward to your responses. Thanks
Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted October 25, 2011 Senior Member Posted October 25, 2011 geoffrecession, Shampooing twice daily will not cause or exacerbate hair loss. Just be gentle when massaging your hair. There is no harm in conditioning your hair without washing it if you don't feel the need to shampoo. Many people choose to shampoo once per day or less. I have always shampooed twice daily. David - Former Forum Co-Moderator and Editorial Assistant I am not a medical professional. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted October 26, 2011 Senior Member Posted October 26, 2011 I have always shampooed twice daily. Is this to wash out concealer at night? That's basically what I have to do. Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted October 26, 2011 Senior Member Posted October 26, 2011 I use a variety of shampoos. I normally use a thickening shampoo in the morning. Currently I'm using Vive for Men. In the evening I use something milder and safe for color treated hair. I don't use concealers but I often use some type of styling products in my hair and I don't like to go to bed with them still in my hair. Senior Member MyNameIsRich Posted December 28, 2011 Senior Member Posted December 28, 2011 I shampoo once a day, when I wake up but sometimes skip it if I know I'm not doing anything at all that day, not having to leave the house. I know a lot of people say its bad to shampoo daily, but I don't see the problem, at least when it comes to hairloss issues. Click to check my hair blog.
Regular Member JohnKnee Posted July 15, 2012 Regular Member Posted July 15, 2012 For people who wash their hair once a day and use Minoxidil, do you apply the 2nd application without washing? I find more hair on my pillow if I don't wash prior to applying night time application. I use hair paste after morning showering.
Senior Member haircut Posted July 16, 2012 Senior Member Posted July 16, 2012 Follow the instructions on the Minoxidil bottle. There is no need for a second washing.
