  1. You need to see your doctor and get a prescription for Propecia. It comes out to be ~2 bucks a pill for the brand name; generic version is much much cheaper. The side effects of taking this medication "can" be the following; erectile dysfunction, impotence, and/or low libido.
  2. Propecia is a tablet (1 mg) taken once a day.
  3. It is best to let your surgeon know you are using Rogaine and all supplements/meds you are taking. All the best on your surgery!
  4. Sandoz (Canada pharma) has a generic Propecia. People say it works just as good as the brand name version and cost much less. I myself still the brand name version from Merck.
  5. You kept it in the fridge way too long. I only keep it in there for 1-2 minutes and shake it before and after cooling.
  6. I am not sure if this is covered or posted yet. When using Minoxidil foam; instructions say to run your hand in cold water prior or the mere heat of your hand may melt the foam before you can apply it. Instead, I decided to put the Minoxidil foam can in the fridge for 1-2 minutes to cool it (shake prior and post cooling) and it comes out like shaving cream. No more runny foam, esp near the end of the can.
  7. I get mine from Costco Canada. Propecia 1mg @ 100 units cost me 195.00 CDN (including 3.89 dispensing fee). Generic made by Sandoz Canada 1mg @ 100 units cost 127.58 CDN (including 3.89 dispensing fee). I still went with Propecia.
  8. How about using both 5% foam and liquid each day; morning and evening, respectively. Since I have short hair, I can get away with 3/4 cap full of foam to cover entire crown to temples. With liquid, 1ml is enough and this will ensure entire area is soaked with Minoxidil. I have been using this combo for a few months now and found better regrowth. I bought 6 months of 5% foam and 12 months of 5% liquid; 63.69US and 49.49US, respectively with shipping of 28.00US from Amazon. This should last me a good 2 years.
  9. We have to keep in mind that all hairs are not on the same growth cycle. As David said, after the 4th to 6th month, all the week and thin hair will have fallen off only to be replace by new, stronger, and thicker hair. Regrowing hair is like growing grass from seedlings, it will take some patience. Keep the faith!
  10. I was on the same boat too when starting Minoxidil. I hanged on there and the shedding did stop after 1.5 months for me. Hair got stronger from there on. Everyone sheds at different rate and length. I haven't gotten a second shed but it is common according to others. Hang in there guys!
  11. Yes. I stopped losing hair and fine hair started to grow back, including the temples (where has been absent for 8 months). They were fine hair, white at first and turned black. I took the next step with Propecia and the newly fine hairs are now thicker and stronger.
  12. I started using 2% Rogaine liquid at first and moved on to 5% Kirkland liquid after a few months. Rogaine comes with a spray adapter and works great but not so with 5%. Since the release of foam, my routine is 5% Kirkland foam (1.5 caps) and 5% Kirkland liquid at night with the drop applicator; apply from crown to hairline, including temples. I have been using Minoxidil for almost 2 years with 2% Nizoral (M-W-F). I have added 1mg Propecia ~4 months ago and experience good regrowth and thickening of hair. I keep my hair short (1 inch) for two purposes; less Minoxidil to apply and reduce the appearance of thinning area due to newly fine hair regrowth.
  13. I use the 5% Kirkland foam version made in Israel and it dries out in a few minutes. I apply about 1.5 caps full on the top of my head, including the temples. Run your hand in cold water for 20 seconds and pat dry before to prevent foam from liquefying faster. I still like to use the 5% liquid at night to ensure all hair follicles get a good "soak" treatment of Minoxidil.
  14. If you don't want to gradually starting losing what you have gained, I would continuous using Minoxidil twice a day.
  15. I have been taking Propecia (1mg) for about 4 months and experience good results; less shedding, thicker hair, and some regrowth. I am using the Big 3 regime. I will start considering every other day once my regrowth has peaked. I think this is best for maintenances.
