Although this is a compliment, I can't vote 'yes' as I think Federer might be on the decline. Didn't he loose to a fairly low-ranked player at Wimbeldon this year? :D

(I don't follow the tennis really).

I am a patient and representative of Dr Rahal.

The word "genius" has always had a much broader application and was never confined to strictly intellectual pursuits (Federer is a genius in the same sense that Beethoven or van Gogh were a geniuses, all can understand that). Athletic ability and skill at that level is certainly worthy of such accolades.

Michael, it's an interesting "off-topic", but we'll agree to disagree. Artistic creativity and originality, as possessed by composers and artists, are more akin to intellectual capacity than physical. see dictionary.com's definition of genius - "an exceptional natural capacity of intellect, especially as shown in creative and original work in science, art, music, etc.: the genius of Mozart."

I don't really see the genius connection b/t federer and van gogh. In my opinion, Federer's dominance is due largely to his superior athletic skills, as opposed to his cognitive ability. again, to each his own.

This polling means very little but entertaining regardless. It understand people having their favorite but comparing a doctor is a declining tennis player. Federer is ranked number 3 which is ironically where I would rank him as well. So I voted yes since I probaly rank Dr. Rahal the third best in the world.

Hariri I have 531 posts show me where I have gotten pissed off where people praise Dr. Rahal. Would it be better to say is Dr. Rahal the best hair transplant surgeons in the world? In my OPINION I feel Dr. Hasson and Dr. Wong are the best.

I have always said Dr. Rahal is a great great doctor. Whoever picks him made a great choice. I agree with Matt if you feel Dr. Rahal is the best in the world you cant compare him to Federer since he is considered number 3 in the world. So I believe the intentions of this post could be misunderstood.

Its wasnt me that originally said Dr. Rahal was number 3 it was the original post.

I dig Rahal's work but I must agree with Lorenzo these kind of polls mean nothing. I mean, it's apples and oranges. You can't compare professions like that. It makes just as much sense as saying "Steve Irwin was the Bosley of crocodile hunting".

Just show me results and Rahal has done plenty of that.

haha well i have to say

excellence in sports is more about physical genetics/drive and the understanding of a game

and sport games are not extremely complicated in the greater scheme of things

as such genius <> world class athlete

although one could be both if they won the genetic lottery x 2

As such being the best at your sport hardly makes you a genius because average intelligence is all you really need for sports. Not to mention that some pretty stupid people are excellent athletes.

Since Rahal's pursuits are intellectual in nature, i'm sure his IQ is sky high. That's what you need to get into and out of med school. And to be counted amongst the best in a given field where it's all about intellect.

Perhaps being at the top of your chosen field would of been a more accurate statement. Semantics, i know 8)

Can anyone really distinguish between the top several HT surgeons/clinics? I don't think so. They are all great in their own right. People may have a personal preference, but to say that this one or that one is the best is like splitting hairs(no pun intended).

Surgery - Dr. Ron Shapiro FUT 6/14/11 - 3048 grafts

Surgery - Dr. Ron Shapiro FUE 1/28/13 & 1/29/13 - 1513 grafts

Yes, it's like distinguishing between a Caravaggio and a Bernini. The specialist can certainly distinguish the work of Dr. Rahal from the work of Dr. Hasson. They're obviously not interchangeable.

You're right, definitely not interchangeable... but when you get to that level it boils down to taste/aesthetics.
