Regular Member eddiemunster Posted August 10, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 Federer is neither a genius nor is he the best in the world (he's currently 3rd). Rahal, on the other hand, may be both. He's in the top 2, in my opinion.
Senior Member Michael5577 Posted August 10, 2011 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 Federer has won 16 grand slams (on all surfaces), more than any other player in the history of tennis. We might have a different definition of "genius".
Regular Member eddiemunster Posted August 10, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 clearly. I interpret the word as referring to exceptional intellect, much less athletic ability. to each his own...
Senior Member mattj Posted August 10, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 Although this is a compliment, I can't vote 'yes' as I think Federer might be on the decline. Didn't he loose to a fairly low-ranked player at Wimbeldon this year? (I don't follow the tennis really). I am a patient and representative of Dr Rahal. Senior Member Michael5577 Posted August 10, 2011 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 The word "genius" has always had a much broader application and was never confined to strictly intellectual pursuits (Federer is a genius in the same sense that Beethoven or van Gogh were a geniuses, all can understand that). Athletic ability and skill at that level is certainly worthy of such accolades.

Senior Member Michael5577 Posted August 10, 2011 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 For the record, I'm a Norwood VI (I think) and what Dr. Rahal has been able to do with just 5200 grafts is miraculous. I still need to cover the crown area, however, but the repulsive bold look has been killed and buried.
Senior Member HARIRI Posted August 10, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 Yes indeed, The federer in HT... RAHAL comes FIRST and BISANGA comes 2nd (Nadal of HT) and RON SHAPIRO comes 3rd (Sampras of HT). lol. Regular Member eddiemunster Posted August 10, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 Michael, it's an interesting "off-topic", but we'll agree to disagree. Artistic creativity and originality, as possessed by composers and artists, are more akin to intellectual capacity than physical. see dictionary.com's definition of genius - "an exceptional natural capacity of intellect, especially as shown in creative and original work in science, art, music, etc.: the genius of Mozart." I don't really see the genius connection b/t federer and van gogh. In my opinion, Federer's dominance is due largely to his superior athletic skills, as opposed to his cognitive ability. again, to each his own. Senior Member lorenzo Posted August 10, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 This polling means very little but entertaining regardless. It understand people having their favorite but comparing a doctor is a declining tennis player. Federer is ranked number 3 which is ironically where I would rank him as well. So I voted yes since I probaly rank Dr. Rahal the third best in the world. Representative for Hasson & Wong. Senior Member lorenzo Posted August 10, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 (edited) Hariri I have 531 posts show me where I have gotten pissed off where people praise Dr. Rahal. Would it be better to say is Dr. Rahal the best hair transplant surgeons in the world? In my OPINION I feel Dr. Hasson and Dr. Wong are the best. I have always said Dr. Rahal is a great great doctor. Whoever picks him made a great choice. I agree with Matt if you feel Dr. Rahal is the best in the world you cant compare him to Federer since he is considered number 3 in the world. So I believe the intentions of this post could be misunderstood. Lorenzo, you really get pissed off when members praise Dr. Rahal. Take it easy bro. If he is the 3rd, then who are 1st and 2nd? Its wasnt me that originally said Dr. Rahal was number 3 it was the original post. Edited August 10, 2011 by lorenzo Representative for Hasson & Wong. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted August 10, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 I dig Rahal's work but I must agree with Lorenzo these kind of polls mean nothing. I mean, it's apples and oranges. You can't compare professions like that. It makes just as much sense as saying "Steve Irwin was the Bosley of crocodile hunting". Just show me results and Rahal has done plenty of that. Not to mention that some pretty stupid people are excellent athletes. Since Rahal's pursuits are intellectual in nature, i'm sure his IQ is sky high. That's what you need to get into and out of med school. And to be counted amongst the best in a given field where it's all about intellect. Perhaps being at the top of your chosen field would of been a more accurate statement. Senior Member orlhair1 Posted August 11, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 11, 2011 Can anyone really distinguish between the top several HT surgeons/clinics? I don't think so. They are all great in their own right. People may have a personal preference, but to say that this one or that one is the best is like splitting hairs(no pun intended). Senior Member Michael5577 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 11, 2011 (edited) Yes, it's like distinguishing between a Caravaggio and a Bernini. The specialist can certainly distinguish the work of Dr. Rahal from the work of Dr. Hasson. They're obviously not interchangeable. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted August 11, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 11, 2011 You're right, definitely not interchangeable... but when you get to that level it boils down to taste/aesthetics.
