Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted December 15, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted December 15, 2010 This nice fellow was in July 1 for 3100 grafts to his frontal region. I think I put a couple of his intraop pics in a thread discussing the pros and cons of leaving or dealing with that little frontal tuft. In his case, based primarily on the fact that all of his relatives lost that tuft of what was ok hair, by the time they were 40. Shown are preop, intraop, 1 week, 3 month pics (note significant shock loss around donor scar) and last week. He's got some growth occuring and will roll back in in July for a 1 year picture. His scar looks fantastic and all the shockloss recovered pretty quickly. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted December 17, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted December 17, 2010 Dr Lindsay, Thank you for posting another excellent example of your refined follicular unit transplantation. I'd say he looks great for 5 months. He must be extremely happy thus far. All the best, David - Former Forum Co-Moderator and Editorial Assistant I am not a medical professional. Senior Member Sean Posted February 9, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted February 9, 2011 great coverage for 3100 grafts and it is looking very good
Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted February 11, 2011 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 11, 2011 Thanks Sean, he does look good. Given how thin his hair was at the 2/3 month pics on the side, I was surprised at how thick his scar coverage was at 6 months. I think he had a fair amount of shock above and below the scar, which recovered nicely. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Senior Member TC17 Posted February 11, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted February 11, 2011 I think the scar is the nicest thing about this result. It's amazing how good it looks.
Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted February 16, 2011 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 16, 2011 Thanks. I agree he has a good scar. I'd point out that it looked normal at the 2/3 month followup with some shock loss on either side. And it improved as expected. Now, I feel like we do good scar work, but this guy is at least 50% responsible for his scar. He simply heals well. I wish everyone healed like this guy. But they don't. In my opinion, scar management consists of a long thinner strip and 2 layer tension free trichophytic closure. I am guessing that if I were to grade my own results, this guy is an A+. More commonly I get a B+ or A- and on occasion, I get a C...but not too often. But again, this guy has good physiology as manifested by early and dense growth and a great scar.
