Help stop the useless repetition. While everyone (I hope) welcomes new members and posters, and would love to help, a simple search of this forum will yield boatloads of info on most doctors.

Read first, there's volumes on this doc.

Yes, we have info. It is NOT GOOD. If you want to waste your money and potentially ruin your head/looks, by all means, go visit Dr. Sword. If not, do some research here and find a doc that is worth spending money on.

Sorry guys, I didn't find the threads until after I posted. I had originally searched for "Dr. Randall Sword" and found no results. I see there are one or two complaints and one or two that were happy. Is it possible that his practice is more up to date now. he has been around for a long time while it seems to me that some of the highly praised doctors on this forum may be newer to HT and therefor have not made the early mistakes of the pioneers. For example, he does not recommend scalp reduction for anyone.

JAF--- If you are serious about treating your hairloss, you are a short flight from Hasson and Wong, or Shapiro Medical, generally regarded as the the finest HT doc's in the world. I look around for deals as well, but this is one thing you do not want to F'up.

I will spell it out for you: Why pay Lobster money for hamburger? Forget the Sword clinic and do some research.

Some of you have said that traveling to Vancouver to Hasson/Wong would be the best bet. Can someone who has done this explain how it is accomplished. I mean do you stay there for a few days in a hotel? I would think flying right after a mega-HT would be difficult and maybe dangerous. If you do go home right away, what if something happens (bleeding, unusual pain, etc.)and you need to see the doctor. How is all this handled? I am also condidering Dr. Rassman in LA. How does he rate?

JAF55 - I'd strongly recommend spending a few nights in the location of your HT if you are a long way out. I went to Dr. Shapiro and I ended up spending three nights there after the surgery so that I could have the shampoos at the office, spend some time in the area, and ensure that everything went as planned. It also helped to ensure that I iced and used the graftcyte spray as often as I am supposed to.

You don't need to spend that much time after surgery, but I'd recommend at least 1-2 nights stay.

JAF55,

I made the Vancouver trip this past February and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I traveled one day (from Chicago, 4 hr. flight), had the HT the next day then flew home around 9am the next day after stopping by H&W for my first shampoo. I also drove 4 hrs. from the airport to my home. No big deal.

If you follow the instructions the week prior to the HT, you shouldn't have any excessive bleeding and the pain (for me) was minimal to nonexistent. They give you Tylenol 3 (which I took) and a sleeping pill for the first night. Your head feels akin to a block of wood for a short time, you just have to watch getting in and out of the car, getting into the airplane seat, anything that would cause you to bump your head (the grafts).

As M&M posted, if you have the time you can stay a few days. They covered the cost of the airfare for me(with a graft credit equaling more than I paid for the plane ticket) and the Hotel stay (2 nights). I thought the experience was a blast. If I have the funds and want more grafts in a year or so, I'll definitely do it again.

I guess you can't please everyone all the time. All I know is that Dr Sword outperformed Dr Bosley in Beverly Hills and another high priced surgeon in Newport Beach, CA for a lot less money. Perhaps you didn't follow the after surgery instructions which are CRITICAL. Dr Sword treats all of his patients personally and the entire team is outstanding. I know this from experience. I'll be back next year for probably my final transplant. I wouldn't go anywhere else even if it were free and I'm a tough critic.

Why are you bringing up a thread that is 4 years-old bashing this doctor? If you really want to prove to us that Sword is #1, just show us your pics already. Your current tactic is pointless... Also, saying he is better than Bosley isn't saying much.

RKelly,

I believe "hairthere" brings up a very valid point - if Dr. Sword's work is truly excellent, you should convey this to the community objectively through photographs. This will make your point far more efficiently. I encourage you to share some of this information with our community. Please, feel free to send me a private message if you need help creating a patient weblog or adding photographs to your social profile.

I will be happy to post pictures as my hair grows in. I will show before and after. I have recommended several friends to Dr. Sword and every one of them was pleased with the results. Be sure to checkout your favorite tranplant specialist on your state medical boards online site (most states have them) and see if there are any negative actions against them. You may be surprised.

Because the moderator hasn't taken it down yet. Bosley was good when he did the procedures but his expansion ambitions caused him many problems. Just look him up at the California medical board site.

You have a valid point and I will update as the hair grows in. I will show before and after. My direct evidence is personally seeing the professional results that Dr Sword has accomplished with my brother 5 years ago and numerous friends however they aren't interested in putting their pictures up.

Remember Dr Sword has been at the same location for over 20 years personally treating every patient. No mill over there. He must be doing something right to have been around so long.

Dr Sword performed two hair transplants on me. One in 2002 for 1,200 grafts and the other in 2003 for 1,200 grafts. He did an AWESOME job. Take it from someone who actually went to Dr. Sword to wirte a review......
