Just an FYI,

I did send am email to Dr. Madhu the other day in order to learn more about his clinic, but haven't heard anything back yet. Hopefully I'll be able to collect some information about him and see more examples of his work to see if he meets our standards for recommendation.

Ayaz,

If you've only had surgery 15 days ago, then you haven't seen the yet. Most if not all the transplanted hair typically sheds between 2-4 weeks and will start to grow between 3-5 months. It takes up to a year to mature.

I encourage you to create a free hair loss weblog in order to document your progress with photos.

Jeevan,

To maximize the number of replies, I'd recommend creating a new thread. You may be a hair transplant candidate, but should consider consulting with a qualified surgeon who can assess your situation. I will say though that based on your level of loss, it's highly important to develop very realistic expectations. You will not be able to restore a full head of hair.

Best wishes,

Bill

Guys, one thing I would like to tell you that Dr. Madhu gives good density on the scalp. You must go to his clinic and see the results, he has many pictures of his patients. He almost transplants 40 grafts per square centimeter, which is good. His contact number is 9000411511. Doctor has taken my pre and postop photographs, I will try to show you guys. I suggest you to meet him once after taking appointment.

And, guys who had HT, please tell me that is it normal that we lose grafts in 10 to 15 days and when can I see the new hair growth, please tell me. I am on finasteride and minoxidil 5%. Thank you.

After many doubts, questions, e-mail's and telephone call's with Shahid (Dr Humayun's Mohmand's co coordinator) I finally decided to have my Ht done with Dr Humayun Mohmand in Islamabad Pakistan.

My arrival in to Islamabad International Airport, Pakistan was at 8.30pm on 25.1.09 where outside I was met by a driver sent by Dr Humayun's clinic to take me to my hotel located about 5 minutes drive from there clinic and a very central location in Islamabad with close by shops and restaurants. Next morning I was up early had a very light breakfast and was called into the clinic by 10am where a consultation was carried out by Mr Shahid and Dr Humayun Mohmand himself. The Dr is a very confident man and full of whit and a very pleasant chap. The doctor explained the whole procedure in length and what he wanted to achieve from my surgery, he noted I already had 3 very bad scares from the passed surgeries and said he was confident that he will be able to loose some of the old scar's and tidy up the mess that was made previously. He at that time estimated 1800-2200 graft max but the final count at end of surgery was 2475 grafts.

I was then told to fill in a questionnaire about any past medical conditions and on going medications, allergies etc and then the usual waiver form was signed.

Once all that was done some blood test were carried out which I had to wait about 2 hours for the results before the full all clear was given. (Have no idea why they did blood test but must be some good reason?)I think Shahid explained at the time but I was in so much of a rush to get started I probably did not listen to what he was saying. After giving sample of blood they told me to come back in 2 hours and they shall then go ahead with the surgery if the test were ok!

Touch wood all was clear and the green light was given by Doc to go ahead!

I was asked to come into the theatre and sit on a chair where Dr Humayun walked in and started his work, my hair was taped up and they started to mark lines on my head where the new hairline will be and also the donor area was marked out. I was shown the new hairline and once all was agreed they gave me some pills to take.

Then my worst moment (I hate injections) a series of injections were given to numb the head in different places and then I was asked to move onto the operating couch where Dr Humayun started to cut the donor area, all I could hear was the noise of him cutting something but could not feel him cutting away at my head. I must say that the donor area strip was removed within minutes and the Dr Humayun started to stitch up the donor area as I could feel the slight jerks as the did the knots at the ends. This must sound very painful but trust me it was not as bad as I assumed and he had a very calm and gentle hand where I did not feel anything.

After this I was asked to turn around and sleep on my back and then soon Dr Humayun started to make insertions for the recipient hair to go in which took about 20-30 minutes and he was talking to me all the way through this about what he is doing etc to ease my anxiety as I would of coarse want to know what is going on. The surgery I had done in London the knocked me out completely during the surgery so I had no idea what happened as I woke up 1 hour after it was over, so this was like my first time I was experiencing all of this and wanted information as I am sure anyone would. Anyways the insertions were complete and the doctor said that the technicians would now take over but he kept coming in the room to keep an eye on what's going on. Around 6pm the Doctor came in checked up on me again and asked if I would like any drinks or food and ordered up some pizza from Pizza Hut which was so nice of him but I did not get to eat it as the surgery over ran till 9.30pm.

The surgery finished at 9.30pm and the doctor was there all the way till the end, Shahid and doctor Humayun came in checked everything was ok made some comments to technicians which they did and the final completion was done, a quick clean up and I was the asked to come outside in the waiting recovery area. I had a bandage around my donor area and was then presented with a folder containing the do's and don't list given all the pain killers, sleeping pills etc that I would require for next few days and told how to sleep at night, how to wash hair etc etc the normal list but explained in much detail over 20-30 minutes.

All that was over and Dr Humayun again entered the room and said he was very happy with the outcome and he will see me again at 9am in the clinic as I was flying out at 1pm from Islamabad.

As it was late Shahid was kind enough to drop me to the hotel in his personal car and as I missed my dinner and was not in condition to go out to eat he stopped and got me that Pizza I wanted and even paid for it! That was so nice of him,

Back at the hotel it had been a long day so I had my dinner made a few phone calls back home to say it was all over and I am ok and back in the hotel I went to sleep, night was a bit uncomfortable as I had to sleep almost sitting up as I could not rest my head with the bandage on it.

Morning was a quick body wash and back to the clinic where Dr Humayun was waiting for me to arrive, offered if I would like any breakfast etc and then again into the room for check up, he removed the bandage and check the donor area and receipt area and told assistance to do a gentle clean up as I was travelling and did not want to look like a zombie! Doctor told me that I may suffer from some swelling to the forehead and I should keep some ice pack on it and he actually gave me one to take in the car on way to airport. He checked if I had taken the pills and ordered some more pain killer as back up in case of any problems on my travel back home to London, he did not want to take any risk! That all done the Doctor gave me the all clear and said he was happy for me to travel and there were no complications during the surgery or now.

Next couple of days after surgery all was fine except sleeping in a weird position was not comfortable, that was my only draw back. 48hrs later I washed my hair as told to no with problems, I had NO swelling at all to any part of the head and no fallen out grafts. I was out and about after reaching home doing normal duties 4-5 days after the operation as I just did not want to rush things and relaxed at home and took things easy. On day 10 after operation I visited my local doctor here in London and he got his nurse to remove the stitches on the donor area and she did a great painless job, the doctor then came in to check the stitches for infections and also commented that it was a very clean job and the scar was hardly visible and there was no infection. On 10th day I also started to wash my full head and started to remove some of the loose scabs and still till today day 20 after operation I am washing my hair with Johnson Baby shampoo with extreme care trying to be extra safe.

Day 20 today only about 5% scabs remain but working loose slowly, no infections at all and no problems at all. It is to early to say what the end result will be but I am so far happy with my new hair line and I hope that in 1 years time I shall be happy with the end result. All I can say about my experience of having surgery done with Dr Humayun is that it was a great experience, I was in communication with Shahid from London since September 2008 via email, he answered all my questions, organised my hotel, driver etc and made my trip to Pakistan very comfortable and Dr Humayun Mohmand's team believe in true customer service and hospitality. I would highly recommend his practice to anyone thinking of having a hair transplant and it was worth travelling all that way to Pakistan to have one of the worlds best Hair Transplant Surgeon's operate on me.

Please note I have not been paid to write this or been asked by anyone at Dr Humayun's surgery to write this either, it is just that after reading this forum for the past 4 years and reading some truly bad horror stories about other people's experience's with other doctors, and after the difficulty I had making the choice of selecting a doctor the right for the job, I felt it only right to write this after I was so satisfied with Dr Humayun Mohmand and is wonderful team and I really had big doubt's about doing HT in Pakistan but now am so happy I made the right choice!!

I just hope this help's someone!

Hi,

I'm Naren, M/29yrs, recently joined in this forum.

First of all I would like to thank each & everyone who are contributing in this forum with their valuable suggestions, experience. Thanks a lot....

I'm slowly loosing my hair from past 6-7 yrs, but still somehow I'm managing to cover my baldness. Now I'm worried about that, from past 2 yrs, I loosing so much of my hair in front side and middle of the scalp.

1 yr back I met Dr. Ashok Reddy, Hyderbad and he suggested to go for HT (Quoted 35k that time) and prescribed "Finax/Day" and Nizrol shampoo. I used it for 3 months and stopped. Observed not much growth with that and even lost more hair/more dandruff with Nizrol <I'm not sure whether it has happened with this medicine or not>.

Then..recently (07/Jun/08) I met Dr. Puli Ravindra Reddy, Hyderabd and he also suggested to go for HT (Quoted 40k), but the problem is appointment dates for Surgery.

He I'm worried about that, my marriage got fixed in this yr end, I would like go for HT around mid of August month.

My question is, How many months it will take to re-growth completely and looks normally after HT operation? <I can rate my case 2-2.5 out of 5 of baldness>. Based on that I will plan for my marriage dates:-).

Could anyone please suggest me?

And please suggest one preferable doctor in Hyderabad. I heard recently one more HT specialist Dr.Kavuri Madhu, Hyderabad also opened a new clinic near Jubilee hills (Police station) with latest technology.

But I don't have much data about him, can anyone please provide more data about him also?

Anantha,

How were your results with Dr. Madhu? Specifically, I would like to know the following:

1. What was the recovery time before scars had healed and the procedure was not noticeable?

2. How did your hair line turn out?

3. How many sessions and grafts?

4. What other doctors did you research before you decided on Dr. Madhu, and why did you decide on this doctor?

5. How long did the procedure take?

It seems like everybody is anxious to see some pictures of the before, immediately after and a couple weeks after and so forth. Anantha, if you have any pictures of the process it would help out a lot of people on this forum in deciding which doctor to pursue. Thanks in advance.

Guys, I am new to this forum..registered today and spent about 3 hours reading the threads. I am going to Hyderabad next week and seriously thinking about getting HT done. Spoke with Dr Madhus, Dr. Ashoks, Dr Ravindras on the phone. Wondering which one people recommend here. I am hearing good and bad about all the three of them. I have heard abt Ravindra a lot before. But, this forums talks about Madhu more than him. Hence the dilemma. I have dense hair on the sides and back and top view and crown area are thinning. Went and met with MHR in US and they suggested 2000 hairs and quoted 10K.

Is it mandatory that we have to cut the hair to size 1 before the surgery. I am visiting India to attend a function and would decide the HT date based on that. Dont want to look fully cut with incision at the function. How many days of followup is recommended after HT is done so I can plan my stays accordingly? Appreciate the answers.

Thank you

Kakay, dont be in so hurry, first make sure that your completely satisfied with the doctor or not, meet personally with most of his patients and check the results.

Your single wrong step may spoil your head, before you go for HT by him completely do the research on him.

I Request to all the guyz who had your HT done by Dr.Pathuri Madhu please give your opinions and upload your latest pics which may help so many people to decide HT by him or not.
