Hi Guys, This is my 1st post here as I just found this forum! I thought it was eaier to copy and paste a post I just made on HLH.

I thought I would let u know what I'm up to.

I needed more time to work out the best decision to make and who would be the best Doc to repair my terrible HT that has wrecked my life since it was done 10 years ago (I was age 23, 1995).

The reason I have waited so long for my repair, is that I didn't know there were leading HT doctors! I didn't have a computer!! I thought Nobel were the best people in the world and this was the best I was ever going to get icon_frown.gif I only just found out 6 months ago that there were leading hair docs... this is quite amazing for me! So I even sold my car so I can meet who I believe is the best HT doc in the world! icon_smile.gif (for me)

Well, I have now made this important and I believe to be life changing decision and I will be travelling from the UK to New York to meet Dr Feller in just over a week from now! December 4th. I originally felt that my eagerness to have my hair restored left me making a rash decision, it wasn't a bad decision by any means, as it was with another leading HT doc that I have much respect for and spoke with him on a few occasions and he was completely understanding and compassionate. This previous appointment was with Dr Coles partner, Dr Mwamba in Brussels. I would like to say thank you to Dr Mwamba for his time and understanding, but I felt I needed to research further into what other leading doctors have performed on similar patients to me and what results they had achieved.

Dr Mwamba has been a very close partner to Dr Cole and it was too early for me to see any of his own solo HT results, this is something that I really needed to see to give me some reassurance on the results I would be expecting to receive with my HT.

So, I sent lots more private messages around some Forums to ask more questions from other repair patients, and time and time again the same answer came up. One of the people I had lots of discussions with was 'SPEX' . I think we have been though similar times, I would like to thank him for his vast knoledge and answers to my questions and also to put me at ease when I have been feeling a bit axious.. so thanks mate.. icon_smile.gif

This answer for me was..... I had to go to New York and Feller Medical. It just made so much sense to travel further away than I originally planned! Dr Feller patients results are remarkable!! I have seen some apauling HT that Dr Feller has repaired to incredible standard. Another reason I made this decision is due to Dr Feller being highly experienced with Tricho closure and I have a previous scar I wish to have repaired. The results that have been posted from his TC along with the HT work from Dr Feller left me in no doubt that this was the right choice for me to make. I have been 100% confident with no doubts at all since making my booking and this is worth every penny to me, to have that much confidence in someone to repair what will be visible on the very top of your head for the rest of your life! and give me the happeniess I have lost back again.

I have had a pretty rough time, I think I have been one of the most badly effected people to suffer with hair loss... I mean.... I stopped being a happy-go-lucky guy! icon_biggrin.gif and turned into a very unhappy guy almost straight away! icon_frown.gif I lost my confidence so much that I couldn't hang out with my mates anymore, I just shut myself away for many many years and even cried about it in private!! Nobody knowing why I had changed? I just wore a cap...and still do to cover my head.. icon_frown.gif I actually shave with a razor my Nobel grafts every day, as they are totally unmanageable! The are also totally the wrong texture to the rest of my lighter fine blond hair! I dont know how this happened, but they are thick black hair...that is wispy... almost like body hair!!!!!! This is a major problem for me, so I shave them every day. Only now have I let them grow to show Dr Feller quite how bad they look when grown out! I have attached pictures for you to see below. When I shave them, it leaves pits in my skin! as the grafts are so thick.. so theres no escaping them.

Before I had my 1st HT with Nobel.. at the age of just 22 (when I had no PC to research anything) I saw an advert on TV... I'm sure I was watching the late night TV show called 'The Word' if anyone remembers it back in the 90's! But this advert showed a guy in a convertible car going along with his hair blowing in the breeze! It said it was the latest technology hair replacement by a company called HDC (hair design centre) Here is there website...

main.html

They called it Liquid skin monofilament method! It all sounded like the best solution to my sudden hair loss, so I went to see them in Hendon, London. They wouldn't let me see this latest invention when I asked as they said they were all custom made for each client. Well, what happened when I returned and handed over ??1500 was to have my head shaved and then a Wig was brought out and stuck on my head! This was quite traumatising ... all I was thinking was I shouldn't be going thru this crap. I went back home feeling extremely self conscious wearing a wig. I went to work wearing it.. and I soon lost my job as I was so unhappy and couldn't do my job properly (I had been there 6 years so I knew my job well enough). I got home and threw that cheap rug away and grew my hair back. I cant believe I paid ??1500 for it... but they used very clever advertising. Has anyone else been there?

Then the next year after that I went to Nobel.. and they butchered me!! icon_frown.gif Just so you can see... I have made a few bad decisions. I was already feeling low enough before all that happened...it pretty much messed me up.

Anyway.... sorry for such a long post... but this is the biggest thing to happen in my life in over 10 years... I have lost the last 10! So want to enjoy my future from now on icon_smile.gif so its quite a major deal for me. Here are some pics of how bad I look now with these Nobel grafts, before I travel to meet Dr Feller! I will be having 3000 -3500 strip procedure along with my repair.

This is a pic as these grafts are starting to grow..after I shaved them...

and a couple of pics how it is today... now grown out a bit more its totally uncontrollable and obviously unnatural and thick black wispy hair icon_frown.gif I still dont truly understand how putting my blond finer hair in between with make everything ok, as these Nobel grafts a so strong they will break through finer hair and always be wispy and noticeable... but I will discuss this further with the best person in the field! .... Dr Feller.

This is the difference between the Nobel grafts and my natural hair thickness in the frontal same area!! side by side! The Noble grafts are thick black and like wire compared to my blond fine hair? Its such a bad contrast... this worries me a bit this will happen again... but I have to remember... I am going to a leading doc this time.. so I know it will work out ok this time.. but you can see what I mean from this pic.

I truly believe this time its going to be what I have been wanting for such a long time.. and looking forward to it and also hearing from you guys.

I will post some post op pics on my return.... and keep u all posted on it all.

Thanks for reading my long update! and take care everyone.

BadhairUK,

Thank you for sharing your story. I viewed some of your pictures...I'm sure Dr. Feller will be able to help you as he is a world class doctor. Please keep us posted with your progress pictures and account.

Certainly we can all relate, also, with the emotional turmoil and stress of losing our hair...it really can affect how we feel about ourselves and then ultimately, how we even live our lives. I encourage you to get the repair work done as you intend, but I also encourage you to continue to live your life. Hair is great...but it's not everything icon_wink.gif.

hi everyone... I noticed my pics didnt open up for you to see them. If you want me to try and repost them again let me know and I'll have another try.

Thanks for your replies!

Bill, I will keep you all posted here with the next stage post op.. its going to be quite weird posting my own post-op pics after viewing so many other peoples, if that makes sense. It almost doesn't seem real yet that I will be having this surgery in just a few weeks from now.

Bill, I also just clicked on your library of progress pics and I can tell you, your results are awesome.. the before and after really are encouraging for me to see such good results even tho your work was with another Doc it makes no difference that these results are possible and thats great to see. Also, I can tell you.. in all the time since I started this HT journey I have never seen any pics of a patient with staples in! So just then was quite a surprise to see just how many staples are used!! wow! But it hasn't deterred me at all, so its all good! icon_smile.gif

Michael, cheers for the kind offer to chill out and have a drink. I haven't that long in NY only really enough time to concentrate on the surgery or I would like that. I would have arranged to stay in NY for the whole week, but I know I wouldn't really be able to relax. If I like it in NY as much as I think ... I will like to revisit again sometime and come back to sample the beer!! icon_smile.gif

Spex... cheers again.... I called Marcia today and paid my balance... so its all GO! icon_smile.gif

Martin... thanks.

BHUK-

Just had time to see your pics and read the story...........man, you've been through the mill (hair mill, that is!). Glad to hear you're landing in the hands of Dr. Feller. I really like what I've seen from him.

I'm very curious to hear his assessment of your graft hairs from the Nobel affair?? I can't remember seeing anything like it before. It's like they took someone elses hair and transplanted it, isn't it?

Feller's top notch so I'm sure he'll tell it like it is. Let everyone know how things go for you. As I'm typing this, I noticed you're only two days away from the procedure.........I'll bet you're psyched! icon_razz.gif

removed 20+ old grafts and 90% of old big scar as well as harvesting 3100+

Hi Guys! Thanks for the support and being interested in my repair. Well I only just got back this afternoon so a bit tired....well I am pretty knackered as it goes... as havent slept since last friday or eaten much..as I am suffering from a really bad throat and its swollen up a bit and not feeling too good as the last few days its not easing up. The plane was delayed in a big way getting there...10 hrs after departure because of delays and bad weather in the skys and then the taxi driver (yellow cab) stitched me up for $100 to go 14 miles! He tod me he had to charge me double as in was in Queens!

But the bit u wanna hear is how did the surgery go!!? I am really impressed with Dr Feller just as I expected..and all his team were very nice too. They made me feel completely welcome straight away and nothing too formal which is really cool! icon_smile.gif

Anyway... Dr Feller took one look at my old Noble grafts and said if he was me he would have sued them as they are so bad!!! They were just so fecking nasty! icon_frown.gif and the most shocking thing was that after he examed my old strip scar.... he was shocked at such a large scar! As he counted LESS than 200 grafts that they got out of it, the strip scar was approx 1500 graft scar and they just threw the rest in the bin!! (over 1000 grafts binned maybe more!) That really does sum them up at Nobel!! and does upset me to think that happed.

Then he checked my laxity where the new donor hair was coming from... and he was very pleased with it.. he said its much better than normal and also I have a small head with a large amount of donor!! ALL this was music to my ears (even if I do have a small head!! lol) and softend the blow of the intial bad news about what the hair butchers had done to me! icon_frown.gif I still cant believe people like that can sleep at night! But Dr Feller said it was all repairable and not to worry ..and started the process of it all.... I wont go into too much info... as you've all heard it before from so many other patients.... so heres my before and after pics.. please let me know what u guys think... I think its going to look pretty good in 6 - 12 months... icon_smile.gif

So here u go... after 10 years since my 1st Nobel surgery... I arrived at Dr Fellers for my repair! He managed to take 3160 grafts from my strip and placed them more packed at the front with single grafts.. and also in the temples..

Before pics..

Post Op (surgery day was 4th Dec).. these were taken 6th dec..(today) 3160 grafts...and removela of a lot of the multi Nobel grafts! icon_smile.gif That was so good to see him take the 3 multi graft out of there!!

Dr Feller has also repaired the poor old Nobel work by removing 20+ old multi grafts and 90% of old big scar as well as harvesting 3160 grafts.

Congratulations BadhairUK. Despite having to subject yourself to the waiting period, we've all been through it, you must be stoked. Immediately after the sugery, when you looked in the mirror, I'll bet you had a smile almost as wide as your donor site-LOL. Your life is going to do a 180 if it hasn't already. I wish you a speedy, comfortable and happy recovery.
