  1. During my surgery the surgeon often went out of the room. He made the incisions and harvested the grafts but the placing of the grafts was performed by the technicians. max
  2. Lenny, I agree with jobi that a transplantation of 400 grafts is not worth the trouble of having surgery done and waiting 6-12 months for a cosmetic change in appearance. 400 grafts may give you a feeling of the surgery but it won;t give you any real cosmetic change. Like jobi suggests, have some consultations with different surgeons and try to meet real life patients. If you do decide to go for a small surgery then I would suggest to go for FUE and not strip. max
  3. My father had a full head of hair when he was 40, 10 years later he is about a norwood 4/5 so you never know how hair loss progresses. However I think that a megasession into the front will provide Graff a good result for the next 5-10 years.
  4. PastaBoy, Starting with propecia for combatting hairloss seems a good choice. However don't forget that propecia is a lifelong commitment too. When you stop using propecia you will eventually loose the hairs that propecia helped maintain. If your main goal is to stop hairloss than using propecia alone or in combination with nizoral can be very effective. Using rogaine along with propecia can even help regrow more hair and/or help prevent further hairloss even better. But in your case since you have a decent head of hair I would suggest you to just consult your doctor about propecia. It's better to prevent further hair loss than having surgery to restore hair loss. max
  5. Hi Graff, I do believe that ethics is a part of the quality of ones work. Judging by online pictures of armani patients I can say he delivers good work. His skills as a hair transplant surgeon seem good. He is able to dense pack grafts and using state of the art methods. However a lot of Armani patient results online are results of strip patients and not FUE patients. Keep in mind that hair loss is progressive and don't use excessive donor hair. I have not that much of knowledge of Armani results and a veteran member could inform you more!! But you obviously made a wise decision to research more. max
  6. I think you made a good choice with Rahal. By the way who did perform your surgery in Turkey? Are you from Turkey originally? good healing Max
  7. Nic obviously the result counts and whether they split or not is not a big deal. I am not accusing you or anyone of lying. I made my comment based on a remark of the founder of this site (Pat), he too maid a remark about it after studying HT's performed by H&W. At the moment I can't find the particular thread.
  8. Looks really good Nic. And still 3500-5000 grafts in hand. Nice to don't have any hair problems any more You certainly have an ideal donor area with this much of a graftcount available, allthough I think that H&W do split grafts to have more grafts..
  9. Hi guys, thanks for your advice. Yes I am aware of the fact that xandrox, rogaine and regaine contain the same active ingredient namely minoxidil. Things have worked out pretty good after all, I am currently on proscar and minoxidil 2%. I don't experience a lot of hair loss at the moment, my hair loss seems to have stabilized. I use minoxidil 2% cause it is available in the Netherlands. 5% solution of minoxidil is not available in the Netherlands. I used to order it from internet, but didn't see a lot of improvement. So I think changing/stopping medication and shock loss from surgery caused the majority of shedding. max
  10. Hi Tan Gill, When you start on a hairloss regime that includes Propecia and Rogaine it is common to experience (excessive) shedding upto about 2-3 months into the regime. After this period your hair loss should stabilize and shedding should reduce to a minimum (if the medication works for you). However when you stop using hairloss medication after a usage of 5-6 months like you, hair will start falling out again. The hair that had not fallen out because the usage of Propecia will also fall out, thats why you will experience more hair loss when you stop using hairloss medication. max
  11. Leica, You have been given some great advice by the veteran hairtransplant members. I encourage you to do your own research thoroughly but it is in your best interest that you disregard for the moment Dr. Perrault and do some more research on doctors recommended on this site. Most members here have no interest in any doctor at all and we can use their experience as a guidance. Dr Ahamd, which serious Dr. would claim that he is superior to others Let the results speak for itself
  12. I would like to give you the url but I saw him in person not on the internet. I don't know him actually but he is family of a close friend. Thanks by the way
  13. Hi darkmanhyk, I think transmed is able to dense pack but I too have noticed that they have a conservative approach. I am happy with my results so far and have had a lot of compliments. I made no secret of my surgery. A lot of balding people wanted to know where I had surgery. I don't want to sound like an advocate of Transmed clinic all I can tell is that my own experience with the clinic is positive. I have more confidence with women. I had a surgery of 3200 grafts so they can do large sessions. Also for me a surgery in the US was not a real option. I believe that cosmetic surgery in Turkey is at a high level. Only you have to find the right clinic(s). There are a lot of quacks. If you are really considering a HT send them some pictures and have at least an online consult. Also if money is a consideration, they are relatively very cheap. NW5a, do you have the URL of that German board it would be nice to see some of the examples they are providing overthere. By the way last week I saw a patient of dr Heitmann. He had done 4000 grafts with FUE and it was very cheap. He too was very positive about Heitmann. Allthough I was not really impressed, maybe because he was at an advanced fase of balding. But what matters is that he is happy. Bill, Yes maybe I should create a weblog but I am lazy and also don?‚??t like being on pictures. With the increasing hair I have more confidence but still max
  14. Hi darkmanhyk, I have had surgery at the Transmed clinic. My dr. was one of the doctors of the Transmed it was not Melike. I am almost 5 months post op and pleased with the results so far. I made an appointment with the doctor. We talked about the hairtransplantation and my expectations. He measured my donor density and showed me pictures of other patients. He showed me pictures of patients with similar hair loss patterns and hair structure. This way I knew what I could expect. Also pictures of scarring in donor area were shown. I was so determined to have a HT done and convinced of their staff I didn't even bother to ask for real life patients. One of the things I liked about transmed is that I first spoke with the doctor and it was pure surgical. This way it felt informative and not pushy. Only after my consultation with the doctor I spoke with the manager regarding the costs. With the find function on the forum you can read more of my experience with Transmed. Also please feel free to ask whatever you want about this clinic I will try to inform you as good as possible.
  15. Lungs I don't think you need any HT. From the pictures I assume you have no hair loss on your crown. Maybe a few hundred grafts on your temples but not at your hairline. If Armani recommended 5000 grafts based on these pictures you should block his email and erase his phone number. If you experience excessive hair loss you should consider taking hair loss drugs. Your hair is completely normal for a 25 year old non-balding guy. If you are not happy with the way your hair looks like at the moment I think you will never be happy. max
  16. Hi guys, I requested Proscar and my doctor prescribed me Finasteride sandoz it contains 5 mg finasteride. Max
  17. Hi Seanessy, I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. I hope you mean 8000 dollars instead of 80.000!? Anyway I am assuming that you are from Europe. In the US there are far more surgeons with a proven track record of producing great results. However there are also a few surgeons from europe that are recommended on this site. I am from Europe and had surgery in Turkey, Istanbul at the Transmed clinic. I am 4 months post op now and have already had a lot of positive comments and feedback on my HT. In such a short time I have gained a lot of self confidence. This site can help you educate yourself and there a lot of guys who can give you valuable advice. I hope in this way you can make the best choice for your hairloss situation.
  18. Hey tuscansun, I have been using propecia for about 5 months now. I paid 48 euro (about 70 dollars) per month. I recently started taking finasteride 5 mg. With prescription of my doctor it's free. So I am glad I don;t have to pay 50 euro extra in the month. By using proscar u can reduce your costs by 75%. A lot of hair loss sufferers and forum members are using 5 mg Proscar tablets and dividing them into 4 pieces.
  19. Hello Footballer, welcome to this community. I see that you have done some research, however I suggest you should research some more. The place you are considering to visit (University of Pennsylvania Health System) is according to their website using micro and mini grafting technology for hair transplantation. This is not the golden standard in todays hairtransplantation industry. For more natural results you should seriously consider a HT surgeon that uses Follicular unit transplantation. Try to do some research on the surgeons recommended on this site. And do some research on hairloss drugs like rogaine and propecia. You can wait until it stops falling, but maybe it never will stop falling and you will keep getting balder. Or you can consider using hairloss drugs that may work on you and slow/ stop the hairloss. Many hair loss sufferers have had benefits of especially propecia in halting hair loss. max
  20. Hey all, I don't know whether it will be useful to fight hairloss by massaging your scalp to increase circulation of blood. It could have ofcourse some benefits. There is a website that describes an exercise for the scalp to halt hairloss. This exercise makes also use of the principle of increasing blood circulation to the scalp by means of muscle contraction in the scalp. De url of this website is (link removed) The exercise is described in words but to fully understand the exercise he recommends to purchase his demonstration CD. Do any of you guys think that such an exercise could be helpful in fighting hairloss.
  21. One and a half year ago I started with rogaine (2%) after 3 months I switched to xandrox 5% and minoxidil 5%. I used it religiously for one year (until my HT in August) but didn't see any remarkable results. My hair at the front kept receding and crown maybe stabilized.? In july of this year I also started with propecia. After 2/3 months of discontinuing on minoxidil I recently started using rogaine 2% again (since one month) and I am still on propecia. At the moment I am 3 months post op and I am experience a lot of shedding can anyone of you shed some light on this situation? Is it possible that the shedding is due to shockloss of HT? Or due to discontinuing minoxidil for 2/3 months? Or is it shedding from the rogaine 2% prior to growing back some more hairs? Or worst case: progressing of my balding in a higher speed? Maybe a combination of this all... So what should I do? continue using rogaine 2%? or should I use minoxidil 5%...
  22. If you directly contact transmed in Istanbul you will probably pay less. I payed for 2500 grafts and received 3200 grafts actually. The price I had to pay for 2500 grafts was around 2800 euro. The price varies depending on the size of the session, the price range is 1-1.5 euro per graft. From day 3-5 I had moderate swelling. I experienced no pain and no real discomforts during my healing process. My experience with transmed was a positive one. I don;t have any post op pictures.
  23. Hi Oussss, I have had a hairtransplantation 3 months ago at transmed in Istanbul. The clinic itself has a professional atmosphere and they have a capable staff in my opinion. Since it is located in Turkey the price of a hairtransplant is lower than average. At the moment I am satisfied with my hairtransplant and I didn't have any comp-lications with the surgery. But it's too early for me to evaluate the final outcome of my surgery since I am only at 3 months post op. Since the transplanted hairs are starting to come out I will start updating my progress within a few weeks. I have to say the pre op and post op care is good, the staff is friendly and you get the number of the surgeon to call any time if you have questions and complications. All this contribute to a nice experience and circumstances for a surgery but the final outcome is what counts really. The surgery and the incisions are performed by the surgeon. Putting the grafts in the incisions is performed by at least 3-4 technicians. The surgeon supervises but after he makes the incision he is not all the time in the surgery room. note: I only can give you my experience with this clinic. My advice however is do your further research.
