  1. Hi Kartyyy, I have used toppik for a half year. It is better if you don't have a bald spot like your case. In case of a bald spot the fibers don't have any hairs to hang on to, this will make it look less natural. I stopped using Toppik because I didn't had enough native hair anymore, so people would notice that I used toppik. The less powder on your scalp the better, since powder on your scalp makes it look unnatural. However powder on your scalp is not very harmful. I had a bottle of 50 mg or 75 mg ( I don't know for sure) for about 6 months. Two notes on Toppik: 1. Toppik is not an alternative for hair loss medication. If you are suffering from hair loss consider seeing a doctor for propecia, try to control your hair loss 2. I have noticed that using Toppik under direct sunlight make it gloom and have a sort of purple colour making it very unnatural and detectable. max
  2. Hi newbie, welcome to this site and fortunately you came to this site before having a surgery. I am not as experienced as the veteran members here but I have heard bad things about Bosley as well as MHR. With the find function you can read the experiences of patients who did have surgery at these companies. Stay away from MHR and Bosley and do research on the coalition docs recommended on this site and who have proven continuously to produce excellent results. max
  3. hi, george are you from the Netherlands? cause the transplantation site is in Dutch. I live in the Netherlands and had a hairtransplantation in Turkey. However a clinic that is claiming that they can produce new follicles out of the old follicles without losing density should have excellent results to show. This is not the case so their claims seem bullshit to me. max
  4. thanks ringo for sharing your experience with us. From the picture you sent it looks fine and your hair situation has improved. I hope you will find a coalition doc to have the results you are looking for. But I don;t know if you need repair work maybe just adding little density will be sufficient.
  5. Hi ringo, an off topic question, from the picture it looks like you got more density. How have things worked out after all?? max
  6. Dreams4me, allthough from the picture it doesn't seem very dense you should wait for 8-10 months before you can evaluate the final outcome of the procedure. I think that you will see a noticeable difference in your appearance. The best thing is wait for the outcome and you don't need to be nervous
  7. Hi, as a hair loss sufferer one wants to believe almost everything in order to fight and reverse the hairloss. I have looked at their website and it provides general information about hairloss and hairloss treatments. This gives the reader the impression that he/she can trust this website. However any before/after pictures are missing also the so called clinical report is not very convincing. The clinical report does not provide any information on level of baldness and increased hair count. Also according to the clinical report the study is conducted over a time window of 105 days (a little more than 3 months) up to now there is no proven hairloss treatment (propecia, rogain and even hair transplantation) that produces significant results in such a short time window. There are a couple of testimonials, I think everyone can write them. Some of the testimonials claim unrealistic results. Within 1.5-2 months they claim to have a major improvement of their appearance. Like every hairloss sufferer I too wish there was a natural dream medicine but it's unlikely that this is the case. So you could purchase this product and see probably no results or you could just try the already proven methods without wasting time. Believe me I tried also a lot of things before I stepped into propecia and rogain (however I was not very consistent with the things I tried before) max
  8. Hi Indigo, welcome it is good that you have found this website. I think the best thing you can do at the moment is try to prevent any further hairloss by taking FDA approved hairloss drugs. Propecia and Minoxidil are the only two FDA approved hairloss drugs so don't waste time and get in contact with a doctor who can make a better judgement of your hair loss. I see that you are not very comfortable with taking propecia, but nevertheless I would recommend you to take (after consulting a doctor) propecia for preventing any further hair loss, since hair loss is progressive and side effects of propecia are serious but not common. And if you should experience side effects you could always stop taking propecia. After about 6-8 months you can evaluate the results of taking hairloss drugs and based on these results you can consider a hair transplantation. There is a lot of information on this site available on hair loss so doing research on this website will help you to find an optimal solution for your hairloss. max
  9. mrkneed, I first started using regaine 2% for 3 months and, not really any change maybe a slight improvement on the crown. I have used xandrox 5% for about 1 year. I alternated xandrox 5% with generic minoxidil 5%. On top and front I didn't see any benefit of the use of xandrox or generic minoxidil. My hairline receded further. I don't know the effect of the drug on my crown, not really a big change I suppose. Recently I started with propecia and switched over to regaine 2%. So basically I don;t know how effective xandrox is. Best thing is to take pictures on a monthly base.
  10. looks nice burt, I have had my surgery done at August 9th and a similar hairloss pattern with about similar amount of grafts (3185). I will try to post some pictures in the near future.
  11. Hey Bushwack, Before I had my HT all my family and a large part of relatives knew about my plan of having an HT. Most of them were positive about it. Some of them declared me a fool for having surgery, but I just laughed at them because I knew they would say stuff like that. The advantage of people knowing about it is that you don't have to hide it from them. One of the disadvantages however is that most of them don't understand the process of HT. After 2 months post op most of them still ask where my new hair is while I already told them that it will at least take 3-4 months to see any noticeable results. All of the people that knew I had a HT wanted to see my head... My personal experience with the HT is that almost everybody that knew about it responded positively and understanding. I think it is socially more accepted in my culture to have an HT, because there are a lot of HT patients they know about. Also there are a lot of people I know who now seriously consider HT... So in a way by being open with your HT you can help hairloss sufferers in your direct environment, this also increases the level of social acceptance. Max
  12. As a fellow hairloss sufferer I think the two things we want to know is what treatments do actually work and what can we expect of these treatments. I think most of us who come to this forum are fed up with products and stories claiming unrealistic results just to make some money. So we have to be critical to new products claiming significant results. Hairloss sufferers can't just use any product that claims to be succesfull in treating MPB without seeing prove. Otherwise there are thousands of products available online, whether FDA approved whether all natural and "laboratorium" tested etc... BeHappy how come you can claim that the laser brush is working great so far by just using the brush for over 2 months. Are you using other hairloss products that could contribute to the results... Untill this moment I haven't seen any proven hair loss treatment achieve great results within such a short notice.
  13. Thank you Bill, Actually the surgery is performed by another doctor of transmed, Dr. Apaydin. I was a bit worried because he is their least experienced HT doctor, but the fact that he had plenty experience as a plastic surgeon and had succesfully followed the trainigsprogram of Transmed made me comfortable. I will create a photo album as soon as possible.
  14. Jobi, thanks for the input, yes I am 2 months post op. I started 3 months ago with Propecia, I wish I started before.
  15. I have had surgery two months ago and at the moment my scalp itches and I have a lot of dandruff. sometimes when I scratch my head small hairs come along with dandruff. Is this native hair that was already minituarized or is it possible that after 2 months transplanted grafts can still shed occasionally? Also I have a feeling that wearing a hat all day increases the probability of having dandruff and itching of the scalp.

  17. I have been following this forum for a couple of months now especially after my hair transplantation surgery in Turkey. It is informative and sometimes even amusing. It also helps get you pass through the hardest time of transplantation suregery (the waiting process). I have had my surgery done in Istanbul at the Transmed clinic (also recommended on this site) exactly 2 months ago. I am originally from Turkey but I live in the Netherlands. During my 5 weeks holiday in Turkey I have had my surgery. I know this is ideal if you want nobody to know you have had surgery. But I had to tell my mother and she made sure everybody else knew about it. Which I didn't care much. Allthough everytime I saw someone after my surgery they wanted to see my head Surgery: 1 week before surgery I had a consultation with the doctor and he told me that he could approximately harvest 2500 grafts. My donor density is relatively low (65-70 grafts/cm tops), but for an asian that may be average. I have relatively thick and (I used to have) wavy hair. During the surgery the surgeon was able to harvest 3200 grafts. Since I already paid upfront for 2500 grafts I didn't have to pay the extra grafts which was nice. The next day I had a follow up and a technician showed me how to wash my hair. Two weeks later on the day of leaving Turkey I dropped by the clinic to get my stitches removed and to get a technician look at my progress. My surgery was almost painless and I have recovered well. After two weeks my scabs were off and no sign of the suregery, so the moment I was in the Netherlands no one could actually tell I have had a surgery. The clinic is professional and made me feel comfortable. I can reach the doctor with my questions by phone. I have also emailed them and got reply within the same day. I know in the end it's about the end result, so I have to wait before I can recommend them. But the surgery and the after care made you feel that they care about you and that you are not just a number. Take care, Max
