  1. Hi all, I have a surgery planned next week on monday 26th of April in Istanbul. I am living in the Netherlands. My flight is booked at 24 April so I hope the problems with the ash won't affect my surgery date. I took a period of 3 weeks off for this surgery so it would be a big disappointment to have to cancel the surgery because of the ashes. The surgery is planned with dr. Kulahci from Transmed by the way.
  2. Hi azn_guy, First of all your transplant looks very good and you are right on track. Growth will soon start. However based on your pictures I would say a surgery for you was not necessary, especially a surgery of 3000 grafts.
  3. I have surgery planned on april the 26th with Dr. Kulahci. Clipper I think you should wait for another few months to fully evaluate the results. When the newly transplanted hairs mature you can judge the angulation better. I do agree however with you on the FUE scarring and the way things have gone is not ideal to say the least. Ultimate: The temple surgery is not performed by dr. Kulahci but by another surgeon of the same clinic. Only dr. Kulahci is recommended by this site.
  4. I have planned a second hairtransplant surgery in Turkey (Transmed) within 3 weeks. I want to perform scalp exercises to add lasticity to my scalp. I wonder if this will cause stretching of the FUT scar I got from the first HT? I also think of getting something done to my temples, but will wearing a hat damage the newly transplanted grafts on the temple points.
  5. Flavio like its752 told liposuction will not be a cure, just a temporary remedy. And also there is no quick fix, if you want to see top results you have to put top effort in it. You could also consider some weigth training, weight training will increase muscle (definition) and more muscles means an accelerated metabolism, so you will loose more fat. Also try to eat 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day instead of 3 solid meals. This will also speed up your metabolism. Avoid sugars and keep on drinking water.
  6. Hi to bald or not to bald, I have no experience with Dr. Civas. I have had my hairtransplant surgery done in Istanbul at Transmed clinic. They deliver a decent job for a decent price, about 1 euro per graft. Dr. Ilker Apaydin was my surgeon , I am pleased with the results. However I think that Dr. Kulahci is a better option, she is more experienced and also recommended on this community. I am originally from Turkey also and I think that there are good options in Turkey to have surgery done. But the only clinic I have experience with is Transmed. Maxzor
  7. Hi guys, I did tell my family and some relatives about it, although I had the opportunity to hide it. I was not working at the time and had enough time to go for months on holiday. Nobody would suspect something because I often go to Turkey to spend my holiday. I did not have any problems telling people about it. However a few times it was pretty awkward, while I don't care family knowing about it, not everyone should know it. A few weeks ago my mother just told it to relatives that did not know about it in front of me, and I felt a bit uncomfortable. I think the thing is that people who have not had hairtransplant are not aware that it is a big deal to us. So the only person that can tell other people that they had a HT should be the patient self. The more people you tell about, the less control you have to decide people to know about your HT.
  8. Hi Andre, Some of the members here have given you good advice to consider the surgeons who are in the "coalition" and in the New York area. There is one member ( his blogname is Ringo) who did have a transplant surgery done by dr. Mollura that I know of. Check out his blog: http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=245. You can find quality surgeons in New York with a proven track record. Do your research and don't jump into surgery right away with a MHR surgeon Max
  9. Hello daw721, 1. Flying in 2 days before and leaving 2 days after the operation sounds reasonable. It gives you time to discuss your situation with the surgeon. Also the day after the surgery you will have time to go to the clinic in case of any complications or questions. After my surgery I took a bus back to my hometown for 6 hours and did not have any complications because of the journey 2. everybody heals differently however within 2 weeks the scabs should fall off. Avoid the sun, that way the redness on the scalp will disappear sooner. Depending on your level of hairloss you may cover your transplant. However when shaving is required it will take longer to return back to your normal appearance. 3. After as early as 3 months you may see some early hairs sprouting. However you will have to wait at least 5-6 months to see a cosmetic difference. The transplantation needs about one year to fully mature, it may even take upto 18 months. 4. google 5. SMG is highly regarded and performs ultra refined work. Using this sites Find feature you will see tons of information and patient photos of SMG. From the work I have seen online they truly belong to the top. In general do your research on these questions, these are frequently asked questions by hairtransplant patients on this forum.
  10. why do you people keep showing balody's scar? Apparently he is happy with his result and his scar is not stretched. This way it only looks as you want to find something negative about Farjo clinic. It is nice of Balody to want to help fellow hairloss sufferers by creating a weblog and showing pictures and taking part of the community. But this way he may regret his decision to put his pictures here. It is good to talk about the science of taking a scar. But in my opinion it is a bit useless to keep showing one picture of Balody where we can't see the placement of the scar for sure. max
  11. Hi MP96, Like the majority of the forum members I think your hair looks great. The reason dr. Rahal densepacked your hairline can be because you already had a lot of hair in behind the transplanted area. If he would use less grafts it would maybe not look that naturel. I think 99% of the forum members would want to trade places with you hairwise. But it is possible that you are unhappy with the result and I hope you can be helped. max
  12. A variant on Shakespeares: to be or not to be. I just want to share two hair related experiences that I had with girls, with you guys. 1st story: About 5 years ago I did not had a HT and my hairloss was about a NW2-NW3. Because I kept my hair short I wore a cap when I met a girl. She liked me and was very attracted to me. After our first date she wanted to meet me again as soon as possible. So the second time we met I went without cap. And I noticed that she sought for excuses to leave. She mentioned to me that she didn't care much about looks when she saw me without cap... The following day she phoned me to tell me that although I was 4 out of 4 stars to her, she didn't want to be with me because of my hair. For someone in his early 20's, suffering from hairloss and insecure it was quite a shock and made me depressed. 2nd story: Last year I met another girl, I had not have HT. I was actually a NW5 but with the use of Toppik I looked like a NW3. After I saw her a few times I didn't see her for a long time due to other circumstances. Last week I saw her again (now I am 9 months post-op and with the use of concealers look like NW1-NW0). But she didn't notice that I had a surgery. Later when I told about it, she told me that she actually didn't look at my hair before and didn't care that much. So it all depends on the people. maxzor

  14. Nucklhead, having hair on top of your head is certainly not the most important thing. However restoring your hair can certainly give you a boost. There are a lot of hair loss sufferers who are depressed with only looking at their decreasing amount of hair on top of their head. A good hairtransplant certainly can increase your confidence. You are right that a lot of men look good with shaved heads. But you feel like it's always other people looking good and not you... Also sometimes people can be cruel , friends and familiy making joke of you being bald. Maybe because it is the confidence but since my hair surgery I have the feeling that girls are more interested in me. The reason many of the transplant patients don't/can't style their hair in a certain way is that they are lacking density. A person in the advanced stage of balding can only restore partly of his lost hair, he has to sacrifice density for coverage in order to have a full look. So it is actually the appearance of density and not real density. By the way there are plenty of examples of patients that can style their hair and have a full look.
  15. Dr Mohmand the results for this patient look very good considering his hair loss. His hair characteristics are in his favour.
