  1. I would think that it would be okay. I dripped vitamin e oil on my head after surgery and it felt wonderful!
  2. You are right about the 50% rule. The ability or artistry of the doctor is what allows for a lower density than was originally there yet giving the "illusion" of fullness. This is commonly stated about hair transplants--the "illusion" of fullness. Plus, remember that you don't have enough donor to get back to your density of your youth. A great doctor can give you a result that makes it look more dense than it is. I am not sure what my density is at, but it looks excellent whether riding a motorcycle or getting out of the ocean. Would I like it to be denser, sure...would I like not to age, yes. Does it look thin, no.
  3. That is a great plan! Work with Rahal and make sure you let him know what you want as well and he will definitely give you his professional opinion.
  4. Going from a NW5-6 to a NW2 is a great transformation. We are not in our teens anymore, so at least today, we will never get back to those thick/no thinning hair days. Having an age appropriate hairline that considers the level of hairloss a patient has is of utmost importance. Remember, you will not have the same density you used to, but with the artistry of the docs recommended here you will have a result that will be significantly better than being a NW5-6.
  5. No one has said that my hair looks thin on top. My current girlfriend thinks my hair looks great and when I show her pictures of me with my head shaved or cut at a #2 clip, she much prefers my hair grown out . Remember, I had very little hair in my front 2/3's prior to surgery and now I have a good amount of hair in that area. It is not nearly the same density as when I was a teenager, but I would say I went from a NW4+ to a NW2, which is more than appropriate for someone in their 30's. If you choose the right doc for you (recommended here of course) and come up with a plan, you will be on the right path to getting a head of hair that you will be more than happy with. But if you look good with your head shaved, I would say continue doing that. I shaved and my head is simply too big and not shaped well for that look.
  6. It's great that people ask about clinics and doctors on this forum. That is one of the reasons it is here. You are in the RIGHT place!! Research the name of a clinic or doctor you have questions about here on the forum. Then ask questions about the clinic or doctor you are interested in. If there is very little or no information, then begin to do some in depth research about HTs and the recommended doctors on this site. Here is a start to find recommended doctors: Hair Transplant in Canada and USA Please make sure to do as much research as possible. It is surgery--so don't take it lightly, the affects will last a lifetime (kind of like a tattoo--both good ones and bad ones), and only choose a doctor recommended here as they have a solid history and reputation behind their results!
  7. Paul- At 35, you have a beautiful head of hair. I would hop on fin, give it a couple of years and re-evaluate. No sense in messing with what you have (trust me--it looks worse to you than others) and my concern with a small FUE session for you would be further loss down the road and needing to constantly have additional sessions to fill in the gap. It is surgery, it is a big deal..even with FUE. Love your hair now as it looks great from the pics!
  8. alexj4--not a single regret! I love having hair again. I am no longer the bald(ing) friend, my forehead is not as big, I rarely wear hats (I don't need to), and frequently get compliments on my hair. Overall, I love it and it does make me look younger. People always thought I was older due to my hairloss. That is no longer the case. It was a great decision for me!
  9. If you look good shaved or have a good shaped/sized head--shave. Shave and Save!! If you don't like the way you look, research a ton, find a doc you love the results of and go for it. That is what I did and many others here. But, if I could of gotten away with shaving--which I tried and it didn't suit me--I would have shaved
  10. I am confused or maybe not understanding, but was this a scalp reduction?
  11. I went grocery shopping and had enough food to last me for a while, as I didn't want to shop or worry about carrying anything up stairs. I ate healthy, including fruits, veggies, yogurt and natural items--very little processed foods. I tried to keep my diet & cleaning of the recipient area as chemical free as possible so as to get as much growth (and no graft loss) as possible. Did it help...you could probably eat McDonalds everyday and still have great growth?! Would I do it the same way if I were to go in again...Yes!
  12. It's a tough decision. I think you need to sit down with a doc and come up with a good plan. It looks like your crown may be an issue years from now, so that needs to factor in in your decision. Personally, I would attack the front 2/3's with 3500+ (or whatever the doc you chooses recommends), so as to strengthen up that part of your head--that is the first thing people see when meeting you. Saying you have 10,000 available, I would attack the front now and then worry about the crown down the road. That is what I did. I was a NW4+ and have comfortably built up my front 2/3 and could not be happier.
  13. Looks great! You've come a long way and the difference between 6 and 9-months shows you continue to have good growth.
  14. Thanks for the update and the pics!! Looking good. I can definitely understand why you went FUE. Shaving down definitely works for you and you will always have that option. Let the fun begin!
  15. Welcome to the site!! You came to the right place. You will learn a ton here and find answers to most of your questions and ask any question! If looking for doctors names, here is where I like people to start: Hair Transplant in Canada and USA. And then do searches on them on the forum. I too made the decision to have a HT in my 30's (which I still am in) based on similar reasons to you--thinning on top and bad receding hairline. And thank goodness I found this site prior to going to a non-recommended doc. Choosing the right doc for you will be key in the success of getting where you want to be in terms of your hair. So research a ton and you will make the right decision for you.
  16. Crown- Your most recent updated pics prior to going into your 2nd HT with Feller look really good. They look better than the 14-month mark, which shows you had additional growth and maturation of the hairs since those 14-month pics. I know it bothers you, but from the pics, in my opinion, your crown looks good--again, we are all our own worst critics. And if you are starting to recede, have low funds...personally, I would wait. It is not as though you have a huge bald spot in back. You have coverage, albeit thinner than the rest of your head. I know the feeling of wanting thicker hair all over, trust me. But I would really take a more conservative approach and enjoy your hair now and give it some more time. Save your donor for what may happen down the road in your 40's and on.
  17. Just a personal preference, I would take some time and really do some research on this forum...that is what it is here for. There really isn't anything about the Colorado Surgical & Hair Institute at this time. As with any medical practice, I am sure that they would encourage research and second opinions. Colorado Surgical & Hair Institute may do great work, but I would wait until they are thoroughly reviewed here with documentation and history of results before going into a HT procedure with them. Maybe get a second opinion by one of the recommended docs (on this forum) in your georaphic area if you don't want to travel or do a phone consult. Take your pick of docs, send in your pictures and do a phone consult--they are free. Research the forum for docs that pique your interest. Here is the link to find a doc and then search this forum: Hair Transplant in Canada and USA A HT is a huge undertaking and you want to find yourself in a better position hair-wise than you were before. Research first...you'll take away a lot of heartache in the future that way!
  18. Dr. Hasson is one of the best!! Age appropriate hairline...just look at how much younger he looks with his locks! What a transformation.
  19. Conrats mattj! Looking forward to the pics and like Hariri asked, which system of FUE did you have done? What level of NW were you? FUE vs. FUT--what made you go the FUE route Questions you probably have answered somewhere else, so I apologize, but would love to know more about your decision making process. Thanks and looking forward to following your journey!
  20. Raphael- Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate it, as that was my goal through the whole journey--to be as transparent as possible and let people know what they are truly signing up for. Your posts are fun to read, super informative with great pics and comments, and you are helping others...taking up the cause so to speak. It's been fun for me to catch up with your progress and I look forward to more (especially these next couple of months!). It is great to see you giving back and helping others in making such a life changing decision. Anyway, The hat days will be over soon and with summer around the corner, you will be in awe of how much fun it is to be outdoors in the sunshine and no longer being that balding guy, swimming and your hair looking totally natural, riding a bike and having the wind through your hair. You will be there in no time!
