We can do 1000 grafts split between two consecutive days.

In this video, we demonstrate how Shapiro Medical performs the non shaven FUE. Grafts/hairs are selected, then the hairs trimmed 10-15 hairs at a time. These grafts will then be extracted before the next set of grafts are trimmed and extracted. Depending where the grafts are placed, the patient usually leaves with no sign of having surgery. It's a time consuming technique. We like to do 500 grafts or less in a single day.

Dr Paul vs Dr Ron... Yes, Dr Ron initially taught Dr Paul but take into consideration that its been 16years. By his own right, Dr Paul has come into his own. Hi, The following answers to your questions are what we inform our patients at Shapiro Medical: 1) Yes, you can treat your scalp normally, however, we strongly advise to not get your scalp sunburned. You'd never want to sunburn any part of your body whether you've had a ht or not but since you had a ht, be especially careful to not burn your scalp. You can apply sunblock or wear a ball cap to avoid risk of sunburn. 2) Any mild shampoo is fine. 3) If your scalp is oily or itchy, use over the counter Nizoral shampoo 2-3 times a week for 3 weeks. 4) If Rogaine foam isn't irritating your scalp, yes, continue to use it. 5) Rubbing your scalp isn't going to harm the follicles inside but if you're rubbing the scalp vigorously while the fine hairs are starting to grow, you could cause the fine hairs to break off. If your scalp is itchy, refer to #3. You'll be able to feel the growth with the pads of your fingers before you see the growth. Not too long before you get to the fun phases. Best of luck!!

How long have you been on hair loss preventative meds? It wouldn't hurt to consult with several clinics to get their evaluation and recommendation. Some may recommend you to stay on meds only for now while others may recommend the conservative approach considering your donor supply. Best of luck!

I'd advise against going for such an agressive density of 60/70 per cm2. I believe there aren't too many top physicians who would consent to that. You have native hairs in the frontal core,1500-2000 grafts in the thinning area should give you a good transformation, imo. Let us know what comes of your consultations.

Hi Jmt2005, Shapiro Medical's FUE cost is $7 per graft minus $500 travel allowance so that will put you right around $10k for 1500 grafts. Are you asking if transplanted hair fall out? It'd be very, very rare and probably due to skin disease. If you decide on hair restoration route, best wishes!

You've been given some good advice here. I'm inclined to think 1500-2000 seem sufficient to address the frontal zone. No doubt you'll get differing opinions and recommendations but with enough research you'll find the right physician who you'll trust to restore your hair. Best wishes in your search.

I echo above statement. There are many choices in NYC so try to visit 4 or 5 clinics to get their recommendation. I would think if they practice both strip and fue well you're more likely to get their unbiased opinion as to which is better technique is better option for you.

Orangehair, This patient is healing up extremely fast. We love the Liposomal ATP spray for graft survival and post op healing. When I visited Dr. Jean DeVroye's clinic last October he mentioned that Dr. True had just been there to try out his FUE extraction device. Hi, I'd like to address few of the comments you heard.... 1) "FUE is better than FUT" - Well, this depends on who you talk to. FUE eliminates the linear scar, however, it's not a scar less procedure like some clinics make out on their website. It's just a different kind of scars. As for the recipient area, the physician you talked to would have a hard time convincing anyone in the hair industry that FUE gets better yield. It can sometimes get just as close to FUT yield but there have been many instances where clinics have come short on delivering just as good yield. Clinics who do not have much experience in FUE are the main culprits of producing low FUE yield (this is true no matter the device - neograft, artas, manual, drills). Also, clinics who don't have much experience with FUT can produce low yield as well. So it comes down to which clinics continue r to produce natural, great results on a consistent basis year after year. We've had first hand experience with the Artas for about a year and can attest that it's not more gentle on the grafts than manual punch unless you happen to be really, really bad at extracting. It is important to find a physician who is skilled and experienced in the technique you want. 2) BS? Yes!! Shapiro Medical have used needles on few occasion but rarely. We've used custom cut blades for many, many years. We are also experienced in using lateral and sagittal incisions.
